Multi thousand dollar designer bags, flights to parties in Singapore and vacations in places like Al Burj in Dubai where you can dine underneath the ocean in a 5 star restaurant. But she had it all. But when we were on a car ride to pick up my jacket at a house we helped build for a poor family in Mexico, she said she thought to herself "Is this it?" She went to all the most extravagant parties in France and she has seen in person what most people can only dream to be there to see but she said she was hoping there would be more. What she didn't expect was that a real genuine old friend of hers was praying for her and when she was ready they reconnected and her friend shared the Bible with her. The verse from the Bible she said stuck out to her was "What will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?” - in Matthew 8:36 She was an extremely successful, favored and well liked major flight attendant and tourist for billionaires in their private jets. Yet when she spent her days, months and years learning about this Jesus from Bethlehem, she was captivated. She expressed her reading on the Gospel was more like the Gospel was reading her, and who she was. She knew what Jesus was saying was true the further in depth she read, And she found that she didn't like who she was. But she said she wanted to trust Jesus to take her by the hand and lead her because in due time she was convinced of sin. But she felt drawn to give what she had up for Jesus. She left her prestigious job as a private flight attendant / private tour guide guiding billionaires and she found a place where she utilized her incredible organizational skills for leading Christian and non Christian volunteer teams to build homes for the working poor of Mexico. Today she is using her skills for God to lead these teams to work great together and I had the pleasure of meeting her and becoming good friends in the process. She says she now lives in Mexico to work full time with the organization "Baja Bound". She says she's faced her obstacles that she had in her way from following Jesus and living the way He wanted for her, but "It was worth it". Her life is today what some might think a crazy decision, but if you ask her she would be more than glad to expound on the journey she's had and is having today. The cartel in Mexico where she lives is kind of busy but she had so much to learn as an Asian lady with multiple languages in her repertoire like Mandarin, Japanese, Korean and Bahasa Indonesian but not Spanish just yet. From personal experience she is humble and bold which is an interesting blend. Humble when it comes to herself but bold to build volunteer teams and break down the rules and doing excellently with kindness and the utmost respect everyone around could tell from her. From the volunteers lodging to safety of everyone under her charge, she executed everything with diligence and through the relationships she made in the process. We reached the home we helped build and there was my jacket where I left it and we greeted the happy family with much much love and warm affection. On our way back to meet with our group she told me about about her life here in Mexico. It was the adjustment for her to say the least but she said she learned to let Jesus help her make decisions along the way and the ones that stand unclear she said she would make plans but she would wait to see if they were what He wanted. She met her husband through a Christian dating app. He is a U.S. Navy veteran. He said he tried looking for people outside of his country and set his geo location to Indonesia while she went on a vacation to visit her family in Indonesia. It was crazy,I don't remember all the particulars into the depth of the specific story but today they are happily married. Not everything is roses for her, Mexico is still a torn down country by government corruption but she is there because she can use her gifts for Jesus. She counted the cost to follow Him and so does everyone who follows Jesus but it is worth it. And our lives have never been the same since. The same can be true for you. You may not have the same exact situation happen to you but God will help you through those obstacles. And with God's plan for the Bible teaching local church in the believer's life, you will have encouragement around to press on forward with all their stories of how God helped them overcome various and daunting odds. You're not alone. Seek Jesus while He may be found. Today if you hear His voice do not harden your heart. Follow Him. Read His word. And May God bless you.
