    I don't mean to be awkward but even though I have been a sewer for many years, I found this video very difficult to follow, and believe me, I really wanted to. Looking at the comments there must be something wrong with me

      Thank you for your comment and struggle to understand the video. The focus in this video is how to make curves using my topstitched piecing technique. As a an accomplished seamstress you already know how to sew, but this approach of topstitching and creating a fabric is probably very new to you. This particular video was done for a PBS TV show, so it really only touches on the topic. I have several more videos that I have made that introduce my topstitched waves and how to add them to a jacket/vest (they can also be used to make quilts and landscapes too -but that's another topic and other books!!). Just google Karen Eckmeier RUclips Channel for more of my instructional videos. Also I have a book entitled Wearable Waves available on Amazon that covers every little detail. I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns. I'm happy to help so that you can have fun making waves!

      My demo board is a trifold foam board (purchased at Staples) with a white cotton batting glued to the front. As you can see the fabric sticks really nicely. Totally simple! Thank you for your kind words, they brightened my day!!!

    Similar multi curve block on utube is "blue onion" videos. more complicated to cut with special ruler, and lots of curves too. More blocks from one stack, but I think this one is prettier. Another commenter mentioned using scraps for less waste. Good idea. Worth making )))

    • @karen.eckmeier
      @karen.eckmeier 7 месяцев назад

      Thank you! I agree that this is a great project for scraps. Save the "wasted" fabric (aka the trimmed fabric from the back) for collage projects, then it is put to good use :)

    I still don’t care for the mesh overlay, there must be a different way to quilt this

    • @karen.eckmeier
      @karen.eckmeier 9 месяцев назад

      It's the best solution since the fabrics are so tiny that if you quilt on them they fray so much that they kind of disintegrate. Another option you may prefer is to use a paper backed fusible to stabilize your fabrics and hence the edges, then you don't have to use the tulle (fine netting....not mesh). The result is a flatter look and a little harder to quilt through, but many have been happy with this approach. They key is to have fun!
