Boston SciFi
США
Добавлен 10 янв 2014
In the cold reaches of a New England winter comes a film festival that has become the oldest genre fest in America - The Boston Science Fiction Film Festival and Marathon. It's 10 days of premieres, features, shorts, guests and parties. Situated in the comfy confines of the Somerville Theatre, a vintage 1914 vaudeville cum movie house situated in the uber cool Davis Sq, the Festival is near Tufts, Harvard, MIT, BU, and Boston College. The festival's reputation earned it accolades from Film Freeway as one of the top 100 film festivals in the world - that's Boston SciFi.
We Approved This Message: Presidents On Film
As this crazy election draws to a close, Boston SciFi grabbed some clips from film where US Presidents are featured. There's Fifth Element, Idiocracy, Independence Day, Escape from New York, Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai and more. Listen as film programmer Melissa Starker quips with director David Giancola as they hail the chiefs and veto the dogs. Host Garen Daly tries to keep things politically correct.

Science Fiction and the elderly would be a great topic! Especially because of the amount of science fiction devoted to retarding / preventing aging.
Nice idea. Thank you.
Thia movie was genius. It did not have a big budget but still a great movie.
Okay people I will take one for the team watch the movie leave a comment so you too can know if this movie is worth your time because your time is so precious I love you I will be back

😂@@happymood888
I can't wait for this to come out - keep us all posted and if review opportunities come about 🍿
28:40 MARK!!! Damn. Couldn't help myself. Seriously, though, I enjoyed the hell out of this. Harlan and Edgar Allan Poe were my favorite writers as a teenager. Thanks for the insights and reminiscences.
Когда?
Funny thing that R2D2 is arguably more “relatable” than the humanoid C-3PO. Then there’s Huey, Dewey & Louie from Silent Running. Bipedal, yes, but not humanoid, or at least only barely so. Still, we *feel* for them.
We're big fans of SILENT RUNNING. Douglas Trumbull worked in Western Mass and one of our team was on his staff. He came a couple of times to the Fest. Delightful human being, and sorely missed.
Hi, where is the movie?
Tim was here 2024
Thanks for having me on the episode. it was a fun time. 🙂
LOVE IT.
Love it!
There are two bottles in the vast ocean of the universe with a story in each one of them.. They, in a billion years' time, may be the only evidence that we exist or existed,at one point....
I was recommended "Coherence" years ago by a film-buff friend. Saw it in the middle of the pandemic, loved it, and now today I hear about "Shatter Belt". Please let us know when and where we can watch it.
When can the public start watch this
Not sure. I think they are still looking for distribution. If we hear we'll announce of social media. Thanks for asking.
Loved chatting so much! Really can't wait to get to Boston and enjoy this amazing festival again!
We're looking forward to seeing!
awesome film fest
Some might say that Radical Jack (2000) was a bomb on film.
Omggg!!!
OMG that was so pumped up good! Perfect editing
Thanks, We had fun putting it together.
Where can i watch it?
Definitely want to see this movie!
Count me in. Brilliant. Was that “Mighty Joe Young” in B/W? I have seen nearly all of these but honestly never connected any dots with the whole “primate-centric” casting lol. I agree with Todd Sheaffer, “we never should have developed thumbs.” Looking forward to the PC.
Yes that was the 1949 version of Might Joe Young with Ray Harryhausen doing the SFX and directed by the folks who made King Kong. I was totally enthralled with it back when I was a kid, and of course had a school boy crush on Terry Moore.
I was almost certain "Chaka" from Land of the Lost would be in the mix. Gotta love the ending!
Good call, and a miss on our part. ruclips.net/video/Ya0584JcJhs/видео.html
Thanks for inviting me, Garen! It was a fun conversation.
Any time! It was fun

Same here as well my friend
I just discovered it's available on RUclips movies and Apple TV
I hope it becomes more widely available. Can't seem to find it anywhere so I can watch it.
Epic
What was the marathon line up of movies?
Will there be English subtitles?
Yes. and this is a very good film wit excellent acting. We often screen international films before they have had a chance to make a subtitled trailer, but they always prove su with a subtitled print. Thank you for asking.
this is great!
Getting psyched.....🛸🚀
Love it!
My first time was the second marathon. It was at the Orson Welles I went every year for the next fifteen years!
This looks absolutely insane. And incredible
🙌
Looks Good! Can't wait to watch.
