Aircraft Piston Engines - Part 1
This is the first of two lessons covering aircraft piston engines. This lesson focuses on the main power producing parts (crankshaft, pistons, etc.) and the induction system. The induction system is the engine system that a pilot has the most control over. The lesson covers how air is provided to the cylinders - natural aspiration and turbocharging. Then, it covers how fuel is provided - carburetors and fuel injection systems. The discussion of carburetors includes a discussion of how carburetor ice forms and how to prevent or remove it. The lesson wraps up with a discussion of air to fuel ratio (AFR) and how the pilot should set the mixture control (a.k.a. lean the engine) in various pha...

Limitations and Performance
7 часов назад
As a pilot, you need to know, before taking off, that the airplane will be sufficient performance to complete the planned trip in the expected conditions. How much runway will the airplane need to take-off? What cruise airspeed will the airplane achieve? How much fuel will it consume? How much runway will the airplane need to land? In this lesson, we will talk about how to determine what the ai...
Becoming a Pilot

This is an introduction to my ground school curriculum. The curriculum covers material that you will need to learn to pass the knowledge test and oral portion of the practical test for a private pilot certificate or sport pilot certificate. The ground school curriculum is intended to compliment the ground and flight training provided by a Certified Flight Instructor. This video covers the proce...
Stability and Weight & Balance

A stable airplane will tend to return to straight flight at a trimmed airspeed. This lesson covers causes of both static and dynamic stability about each axis. One of the crucial factors for pitch stability is the center of gravity. This lesson covers calculation of the center of gravity to ensure that it is in the approved range.
Airplane Instruments

You need to be able to interpret what your instruments are telling you and understand their limitations and potential failure modes. This video covers the magnetic compass, the inclinometer, the air data instruments (airspeed, altimeter, and vertical speed), the gyroscopic instruments (artificial horizon, directional gyro, and turn indicator), angle of attack indicators, and communication radio...
The National Airspace System
Просмотров 721 день назад
The nation’s airspace is divided into a number of different types. The rules vary considerably between these types. We need to be able to identify these types of airspace and be aware of the rules that apply in them. In addition to the various lettered classes of airspace, this lesson covers special use airspace and TFRs.
Navigation
Просмотров 1728 дней назад
When we are flying, we need to be able to determine where we are and which way to go to get to our destination while avoiding obstacles and airspace that we don’t have permission to enter. This lesson covers pilotage, deduced reckoning ("dead reckoning"), VOR navigation, and GOS navigation.

Tailwheel Landings

A different lesson covered landings with tricycle landing gear. Tailwheel landing gear calls for some different techniques. This lesson focuses on landing techniques that are specific to tailwheel airplanes. Prerequisutes: Standard Landings - ruclips.net/video/4_NRGCiiqRk/видео.html

Other lessons cover the way that an airplane is controlled on the ground and the way that an airplane is controlled in flight. A landing is about transitioning from the in-flight regime to the on-ground regime. This is one of three lessons on landings. Other lessons cover specialty landings and tailwheel airplanes. Specialty Landings
Просмотров 51Месяц назад
Once you become proficient with standard landings, your instructor will introduce several types of specialty landings to teach you how to vary the standard technique to adjust for special circumstances. This lesson covers dead stick landings, short field landings (with and without an obstacle in the approach path), and soft field landings. Prerequisutes: Standard Landings - ruclips.net/video/4_...

Other lessons cover the way that an airplane is controlled on the ground and the way that an airplane is controlled in flight. A take-off is about transitioning from the on-ground regime to the in-flight regime. Standard take-offs, short field take-offs, and soft field takes-offs are covered for both tricycle geared airplanes and tailwheel airplanes. Prerequisutes: Primary Controls - ruclips.ne...
Controls on the Ground
Просмотров 10Месяц назад
When taxiing on the ground, the airplane is controlled in an entirely different manner than when in the air. The pitch and roll attitude of the airplane is dictated by the slope of the ground surface (usually pretty close to level). The altitude is dictated by the airport elevation. Since the airplane was designed primarily for flight, designers don’t optimize for controllability on the ground,...
Secondary Controls

Another lesson covered the primary controls. With a few exceptions, all airplanes have the same primary controls and they all have the same main effects. This lesson covers secondary controls, which are intended to optimize the airplane’s performance. Some of these secondary controls may not be present in simple aircraft. Prerequisites: Primary Controls ruclips.net/video/mnq6j1NuYzY/видео.html
Primary Controls

A pilot needs to control several aspects of aircraft behavior to safely arrive at a destination. That would be easy if each aspect (airspeed, direction, altitude) were directly associated with a single control. However, each of the controls may have side-effects that the pilot must anticipate and compensate for. The pilot must use multiple controls in a coordinated fashion. The control rules va...

Lesson 14 Maintenance Records and Misc Regulations
A truly gem of YT on Aviation! Thank you algorithm !
Thank you. I hope you enjoy the other videos in the ground school series I am in the process of producing.
Huge respect and thank you! I’ll watch all of them and will invite my son to watch them too. Both of us are student glider pilots
@@vanlife4256 There are two ground school playlists on my channel: one for gliders and one for airplanes (which is still in progress)
This is a great video that goes over from start to finish on how to plan a cross country flight.
Ohhhh, you sped up the video… that explains it; I thought you were having anxiety,…fidgeting up in the air like that :{D lol
Wow… Fully functional 360, great video… I’m surprise I need it was a hoodie… Was it a little chilly up there?
Temps were in the 30s on the ground and a few degrees cooler at altitude.
Really cool!! Lost the sound part way into the broadcast
I sped up the middle part of the flight using the video editing software to keep the video a reasonable length. Apparently the sound is muted when the speed is changed. There wasn't anything interesting to hear.
@@reidbaldwin4555 oh, ok. It was fun to watch!
