Ku Ka Ilimoku by Christopher Rouse - BYU Tangents
Просмотров 2,7 тыс.2 года назад
Ku-Ka-Illimoku, by Christopher Rouse, is an iconic multi-percussion work for four players. Rouse wrote the following about the piece’s origin: "In Hawaiian mythology, Ku is perhaps the most fundamental and important of gods, occupying a place similar to that of Zeus in Greek mythology or Odin in Norse legend. Ku is manifested in several forms: as Ku-Ka-Illimoku he represents the god of war. Thu...

Remarkable! Thank you for sharing your talent!!
Just as impressive as the music is the fact you could all play without nose-plugs!
I love the harmony and acoustics. Keep it up!
Gorgeous video. Well done, all.
Where in the world did you record this? Getting all that equipment out there is insane! Lovely video, inspiring.
Thanks William. It was filmed at the Great Saltair on the south end of the Great Salt Lake. Yes, it was tough. : )
I love everything BYU but sincerely what the heck?

cool!!!
cool!!!
Fantastic I was dancing around little snowflakes and creating a beautiful spell
Fabulously creative video for this composition - Chris (who I knew well and was at U of Michigan with when he composed this) would have loved this, I think. But the massive (and unwritten) ritardando at the 2:40 mark is inappropriate and feels quite contrived. Also, the two higher pitched gongs/tam-tams at 3:34 (I can't remember but I think Chris preferred button gongs for the two higher pitches) are not rhythmically audible in that repeating 2/4 two-bar pattern.
I want to shout out the Tay Steele for making this video so entertaining. The group killed it in the recording. The shot at 4:56 is epic.
wonderful
