Freebird - Flex Series Head Shaver Review
Просмотров 2065 месяцев назад
This company used to be called Freedom Grooming, they changed the name and recently drastically lowered the price ($40 as of 5/17/24). We paid a lot more :( Solid option for thinner hair. Currently very low price. Cons: 1) Really small shaving head. 2) They push hard on the subscription, so watch out. 3) Accessories are low quality Check out more head shaver reviews at: trimmermanual.com/ one o...

I've been looking for a beard/mustache trimmer for weeks now; so many to choose from, but your clear, concise review helped put this Andis model at the top of my list.
Would this be an ideal trimmer for maintaining short stubble (1-2mm) and lining up of cheeks and neck?
yes, its perfect for stubble with the 1mm guard and the adjustable blade.
@@TrimmerManual How about using it without a guard?, I’d just use the adjustable ceramic blade 1.0 to 1.9 in increments of .3mm for maintaining stubble. And use zero blade for cheek/neck lineups.
@@Adamas11 Yes, that also works really well. 1.0 - 1.9 is definitely in the stubble range. I would suggest starting off around 3mm then going lower to see what looks best for you. Here's a video that shows what the different lengths can look like. ruclips.net/video/Jg2cPlWgwX0/видео.htmlsi=rmrsJyXSOSSV-zD-
@@TrimmerManual My stubble is 2mm or less, so probably wont use any guards. I will just use the adjustable ceramic blade in the 1.0-1.9mm range. And zero blade for cheek/neck lineups. This sounds like the perfect combo for me.
@@Adamas11 Agreed. Most trimmers don't have this range.
Great video. Ordered mine today
I’ve had mine for about a week. Delivery was a nightmare. I had to email a couple of times. Finally received it after telling them to cancel order. Works well so far.
How do you know when it’s fully charged?
Does it come with a charger?
Yeah
Full charge time plz ?
Full Charge in 1 hour with 100 min of run time. This is a big improvement over the 3 series which uses the NiMi battery and takes 10 hours to charge and gives you 50 min of run time.
How wide is the blade width itself with no guard?
its 1 5/16" edge to edge
(one and five sixteenths) if that wasn't' clear :)
is the 5 series faster than 3 series?
I believe they run at the same RPM.
Does it shave your neck/cheeks well without getting super hot?
The Braun doesn't get very hot. We have found that most trimmers don't get too hot. Adding oil can help reduce friction a lot if your trimmer is getting hot. Also, ceramic blades stay a bit cooler. If your trimmer blade is getting too hot, try adding some mineral oil and make sure not to rinse your trimmer under water.
@@TrimmerManual cool. But it does shave close right?
Its about average for trimmers like this. Somewhere close to a half millimeter. If you want to trim shorter you would need a specialty blade like the Phillips Oneblade or Beardscape Zero Blade
@@TrimmerManual cool. I need one for line work around my beard & have very thick hair. Might try one of those out
@@tgonzalez1983 I avoid using a razor at all costs, so the specialty trimmers can be helpful! You can also use tweezers on your cheek line to keep that sharp.
How to use it for balls
is series 9 detail blade bettler than 7? it looks a little different
Good stuff thank you
You need to put a bit more effort into this. Show people that you've actually used it. Compare it to other trimmers in the same price range. Discuss the noise level, the charging time, etc. Also, the Philips trimmers don't require any oiling and that's a big plus for some people, and a big minus for the Braun.
Thanks for the advice! It can be hard to remember what items to touch on when talking about a trimmer, we really need a check list to make sure we touch on everything. On a side note, I wouldn't believe what Philips says about not requiring oil. Their blade is not different than other companies and does work better with oil. They just want to say that it doesn't need oil so they can sound better :)
@@TrimmerManual You're welcome. I'd recommend watching other reviewers and compiling a check list of the things they discuss. You can measure the loudness of the trimmer, in decibels, with a phone app. I disagree about the Philips not needing oil. I own a the cheapest Philips MG3000 series which I bought four years ago and it works as well as the day I got it. I paid $20 directly from them and it works as advertised with no tugging or pulling.
You know what… I’m just gonna say it I’m a Afro American man looking for clippers while I teach English and South Korea and I came across these so I’ve been looking at all week deciding if I should get them or not. Senior video popped up a few times and I skimmed over it because of just the demographic. I just wanted to see if sharp lineup at first. Wrong I was because this was the most helpful video I’ve seen you made some really good points I’ve decided to go ahead and order them. What’s that old saying about book covers?
HA! Thanks for trusting us. Brian (the guy in the video) is also a teacher.
Oil for the machine?
Yes, just for the blade.
I didn’t notice no struggle
Can you use it for your balls?
I just ordered this during the Memorial Day sale. I was supposed to get it next day using Amazon pay, which would've been Sunday, but they didn't even bother to ship it until Tuesday, and I won't get it until tomorrow. I have a very long beard, but I mostly plan to use this to shave my head, line up the hair on my cheeks, and maybe (depending on the other attachment) the boys. I worry about that specific sensitive area getting knicked because it doesn't look like there's a screen covering those fast-moving sharp blades, so that might end up still being a job for a standard Razor. I also ordered the style detailer precision trimmer for the mustache and stuff. Both cost me $70 on sale, so it wasn't crazy expensive, but now I wonder if it was money wasted. We shall see, I guess. Anyways, thanks for the review, I wish I would've watched it before ordering.
The small equipment with the holes is it a shaver? I think they call it a detail trimmer but can i use this instead of a razor blade?
A review without actually demonstrating it... I'll pass!
what is the oil you refer to for?
Generally its mineral oil.
I use Wahl clipper oil
is it good for shaving balls or nah
Not our top pick for that. I think trimmers with snap on guards or adjustable blades work better. This does have a different blade for body hair that has a few snap-on guards. The blade overall is not high quality and a ceramic blade would be a bit better for pubic hair trimming. Again, you could definitely make this work for pubic hair trimming, but there are others that are better. On the lower price end, check out the original Meridian trimmer, on the higher end, check out Beardscape.
can u explain the settings what numbers are for a closer shave
yes - just pull the guard all the way off. The guard on the Braun trimmers is adjustable, but it can also be removed. Completely removing the guard will get you the closest trim. If you have the guard on. the lower numbers are the closer cutting settings. This one goes down to 1 mm. Turn the dial all the way counter-clockwise.
Great!
can you tell me if it will also charge on 220V? usually written on base or power supply like 110V-220V. I travel and do not want to carry transformer just an adapter
yes, the charger has the standard USA plug but also works with 220 volts.
Great review!
Can i use it under water?
yes, the Braun is fully waterproof
😅 "promo sm"
Are there attachment combs available in more lengths than what it comes with? I would like more granular control over beard length, but love this trimmer’s cut.
unfortunately there are not other guards for the slimline. That is a limitation of this "short only" focused trimmer. Most people only use it without any guards at all.
Great review! Could you please share your opinion about how would this trimmer suit someone who wants to keep the beard below one inch? Would the basic trimmer guards be enough to smooth out the beard by shaving with the grain?
The guards on the Slimline may not be long enough for a 1" beard so it depends on how much below 1" works best for you. You may want a trimmer with more length options. Check out the Phillips 9000 or the Brio Beardscape.
Just a heads up there is a travel lock feature. You hold up on the power slider.
Noted! Thanks for pointing that out.
