And Adrea sank because of a large hole that made it sank
And it's because everyone on the doria left. While the ms stockholm didn't have danger
Something happened the ms stockholm and Adrea doria collide and the ile de France came and then ms stockholm was going back to port because of damage they needed Repairs

A ship longer then the great eastren
wow
Ein bewegender Moment
I hope she was preserved... Even in the configuration of SS Norway(excluding the massive forehead she had after 1990), she looked good. She was definitely a ship to preserve..
Hardly. She’s scrapped. We have had the internet for 30 years. Why is it hard for the young to actually use it and find things out.
@@xr6lad i know she was scrapped. I'm just saying that she was a ship to preserve despite the decision to scrap her
I've never seen a whistle release so much steam in my life.
1:18 SS UNITED STATES
Fracassou em ser o mais veloz e foi vendido. Agora é o Noruega.
Why do the children of the 21st century totally unable to research things. It was scrapped in 2006.
Sailed on the Norway years ago. I can say the grandeur and beauty of her French design were everywhere. She was magnificent, smoothest ship I've ever sailed on, and I've been on plenty. It never ceases to amaze me, some of the most beautiful things built by man are cast aside like yesterdays garbage too be destroyed. Pray for the SS United States!!!!
He was tall, he was magnificent, he was majestic, he was the representative of France and its know-how... And France abandoned him. 😢
Isn’t S.S France a female ship instead of a he?
‘She’ is the embodiment of France. ‘She’ will be the mistress of every Frenchman. ‘She’ contains the spirit to restore Frances pride.
She*
0:21 this can be a mess if that bottle was stain full 😳🤢🤮🤧
Wdym? That's the tradition of ship launches. They always smash a bottle of champagne onto the ship's hull
They do that just to test the ship if it's sinkable or not I think
No, it’s a blessing, it’s for good luck. Usually it’s superstitious if the bottle doesn’t break, which has coincidentally happened a few times@@LocalBlueyFan-ob2nb

@@atlantis0v-104 probably, but isn’t she a turbine powered ship? And turbines don’t have reciprocating parts.
1:18 The SS United States
Yes i see
At this time the France was a country ...Now there is this shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii Europa utopia .
Why this ship giant?
She was designed to be the flagship of not just her company, but of her nation’s merchant fleet. And while she wasn’t the largest or the fastest, she was the longest and perhaps the most luxurious. Unlike cruise ships, ocean liners were built as symbols of national pride to represent a nation’s standing in the world.
Why you find it hard to think?
Ocean liners are basically ocean busses, cruise ships are often used for a nations pride, ever heard of those mega hotels the icons? @@Daniel_Huffman

Yes
No. It’s a Frenchman speaking.
Yes, the ship speaks fluently french
1:22 you can see either ss United States or ss America
That's the Big U.
@@ChiehHsuanYing2000 What do you mean? They are talking about the ship.
@@ShipsandGames I mean the ship that can be seen at 1:22 is Big U, nickname of SSUS, not SS America.
@@ChiehHsuanYing2000 Oh ok, thank you for the explanation.
Why does her whistle sound completely different here than it does in the 1949 black-and-white footage?
This video has better audio and the 1949 footage was taken farther from the whistle
French ship
I didnt know it sounded like that
It sounds like rms olympic and ss normandie with 1.2 pitch
We should get more ships based off the France's design. Not the ugly boxes of today.
Ugly boxes are here to stay, unfortunately. The more balconies a ship has, the more marketable and desirable it is to passengers.
@@johnbergstrom2931 the modern industry sucks
Ironically, the _France,_ in her guise as the _Norway,_ inspired many of these problems in design, particularly after her 1990 refit.
By sucks I assume you just mean the style, the more we advance, the more we have to drop the “cool” looking shit, even the ugly boxes” (which I don’t agree with, some cruises look very cool) are eventually going to be outraged by more “uglier” modernized ships.@@koltp1909
It's all ker-ching, ker-ching, today. The France was about national pride. Her building was subsidised at a time when airlines were already eating in to transatlantic traffic. The writing was on the wall. She was a revenue loser.
0:24 France anthem
For it's time it was pretty fast and one of the first for it's unique funnel design
Does anyone know if this footage is in the public domain? I'd like to use it in my upcoming video on Ile de France if possible.
Didn't expect to see you here...
@@aerofiles5044 Same, don’t know why there aren’t many likes.
I know its been Two years, but no, not yet. The footage was recorded by Americans, which means It Falls under American regulation. Since the footage is definetly less than 70 years old, that means its producer has obviously died less than 70 years ago. So no, its not on public domain.
I can see the blue riband
can we get the full one
