I have found it necessary to increase the saturation for landscape images or increase the vibrance if people are in the photo. The colors are muted when they print, but once they are sublimated they are perfect. I watched because I am having mirroing issues. I'll watch your next video to see if it helps.
I had no problem with the volume. I did turn it up some. I really appreciate your method of teaching. My Skitch is on its way, so I hope to learn all about Artspira. I also have a scan n cut, but have only used Canvas Workspace with it.
Thanks for watching Mary!
Thank you for showing the app and the tip on storing the frame!
Audio is sooo low it’s EXTREMELY DIFFICULT to hear, even though I put my volume up all the way!
Where did you get your sewing machine at please let me know patty’s in Westminster md
This is available to purchase online from many dealers and companies. Amazon, Best Buy, B&H, and Brother dealers too!
❤where did you buy it at patty’s in Westminster md
question is there way to install a zipper with this serger
is there a zipper for this serger?
So no bobbin needed while sewing ?
A bobbin is always required when sewing, on any sewing or embroidery machine!
This is an extremely helpful video! I'm in the market for a serger and truly appreciate your easy to watch and concise evaluation of this machine. Thank you!
I'm so glad it helped!
Thank you for this very well explained video. I was able to thread my machine on the first try with your video.
Amazing! Thanks for the feedback :)
I can get an image to print from my HP desktop to the Brother Sublimation printer. However, even if my image is mirrored/ flipped horizontal and saved that way and showing as such on the desktop, it will not print as such on the Brother sublimation printer. Do you know why this happens and how to fix it?
Hey! That's so annoying! I'm not sure why that's happening but maybe someone over at Brother can help troubleshoot with you. Check out support.Brother.com for product manuals, trouble shooting, and to chat with support staff. Hope you can get this figured out.
Thanks for the videos on the SP-1. They are very helpful. I have a few questions. Are you supposed to preheat your fabric area for a few seconds before placing your design on the area for sublimation? I believe I read that you should wait 24 hrs before washing anything you have sublimated on. Is that true with the brother's ink? Have you tried any of the sublimation coating sprays on all cotton fabrics & if so, how did that work for you and did the design colors last after a few washings?
I'm glad! I suggest referencing the product instructions for the printer and any sublimation blanks you buy. You should be able to find more detailed instructions about pre-heating and washing there.
Thank you so much for sharing this video. My husband bought me one of these about two months ago & I haven't opened it yet. Seeing how easy it was set it up makes me want to try it today! Thank you!
Thank you for this most excellent video! Do you know if Schmetz needles will work in this serger?
thank you for the unboxing big help!
Glad it was helpful!

Thanks for this review! I'm considering purchasing the Air1800. I have other Brother products and Brother has good customer service and they stand behind their products.
I got mine today I can’t wait to use it thanks for making it look easy
Yay! Congrats!!! Thanks for watching.
Cnet says the ink cartridges are too small. Sounds like it could get expensive unless there are cheap replacements on the market.
They are standard size cartridges and so far they are going a long way for me. I've printed a lot, made many different projects, and my ink levels have not dropped down at all.
Hi what needles do these take? What bobbins?
Hi there! The needles are 130/705 #11. A set of 6 replacement needles comes in the box with the machine. Bobbins are Fil-Tec Magna-Glide M Poly.
Thanks for making this video! My Brother 1800 air flow serger arrives Wednesday and I’m so excited!
Yay! Congratulations :)
Printer doesn't locate wifi hotspot tryed everything i don't have home wifi im using my mobile hotspot doesn't even look like theres no usb port on this printer
Thank You!!
You are a miracle ✨️. Thank you for doing this. I look forward to you doing more video
This was such a helpful video. Thank you
I'm so glad! Thanks for watching
RUN AWAY FROM THIS AS FAST AS YOU CAN! This machine is Brothers way of giving customers the finger. It only works with the app. After downloading the app you access a website to get patterns but you pay a monthly subscription on that site. There is no USB port so you can't plug in a flash drive or your computer with designs. Apparently Brother hates people by the way they've created this POS machine. After I bought it I sent it immediately back to the company.
put me on!!!!!
Please come back one month from now and share your updates. They’ve been more consumer PP1 returns compared to a sponsored videos. It seems you paid for the PP1 and not sponsored by Brother (A good thing,) which allows you to give an honest updates. Looking forward what your PP1 experiences been like. Thank you.
Thanks great instructions
Glad it was helpful!
Great video! Thank you!😊
Thanks Amanda! So glad you liked it.
Great information and demonstration. Thank you!
So glad it was helpful!
just bought my PR680W and this was the best set up video I found!!. I was completely lost in where to start when I opened the box!! Thank you so much!!
I'm sooo glad! Thanks for letting me know and congrats on your new machine!!!
Excellent ❤
Thank you 😊
I bought a Skitch a couple months ago now and it has a lot of issues
sublimation inks are heat activated, once its activated by the heat the colors much more vibrant.
I had no idea until I sublimated for the first time!
Good video! Seems like a fairly easy machine to set up
Thanks! It definitely is :)
You have to turn the volume up so people can hear you you’re talking too low
Pp
Thanks for your video. FYI the paper does come off the top where a scanner is located. As to how to use it I’m still trying to figure that out😂. Also the printer can print legal size paper. There is an extension in the back to print on larger size paper. Happy crafting!
Paper not fitting for me
Thank you!
So cute. The scan n cut is awesome. Maybe you could line the box with paper or fabric. She’s sure to love it!
Can you show how to change the foot to the embroidery foot?
Love this concept for the new Brother's Print Moda Studio. Question. Why are the rolls so expensive? There is only so much you print with just 5.4 yards at $100 each. Cotton fabric is so inexpensive to buy per yard, but Brother is charging $100 just for a tiny amount of yards, 5.4 yards -crazy. I hope to hear your feedback.
Hi Lou! I agree that $100 is a bit of a stretch, but unfortunately that is the price for now. One of the benefits of buying the roll from Brother is the special treatment that the fabric receives to enable ink absorption. This produces vibrant color prints, which I'm especially grateful for when printing personal photos. The roll also features a backing that allows the material to feed through the printer with no jams or wrinkles. This feature minimizes messed up prints and allows you to get the most out of the roll!
The brother website doesn't provide the technical specs of the machine. What information do you have about that? 01) Print resolutions in pixels 02) ink volume per color 03) print speed in color and black only mode based on print resolution and size 04) are the inks water based dyes or pigmented inks for longevity, waterproof, highly fade resistant? 05) What is the recommended drying time before the material should be handled in a crafting / manufacturing use? 06) Are there weird odors from the ink (Epson's DuraBright pigmented inks have a strange smell)? 07) How many times can a printed piece of fabric be run through the washing machine before wear & tear start to show? 08) Will the inks bleed into other clothing in the washing machine? 09) If so how long until that stops being a problem? 10) Are there special instructions for washing and drying? Some inkjet printed fabrics require you to turn the item inside out when washing and drying. In the dryer they also stipulate that it be set to a low or no heat setting and to remove it promptly from both types of machines. 11) How long will the printed fabrics remain vibrant and under what conditions are the best for longevity? 12) There was no mention of what the top tray is for, how is the USB port used on the front of the printer? 13) Can it be used to save projects to it or is it simply for loading files? 14) Can I use the printer as a standalone unit by adding an external video display or connection to a tablet for viewing and selecting larger files (without the Artsira software)? 15) I ask because the small screen on the printer itself will be barely useful in choosing files off the USB Flash Drive. 16) Can the USB port on the printer support a USB powered hard drive like a Western Digital MyPassport hard disk drive? 17) What is the maximum drive capacity that the printer supports from its USB Type A port? 18) What format should the USB drive be formatted for (FAT, FAT32, exFAT, NTFS, something else)? 19) Being an inkjet printer how often do you need to print to prevent clogged print heads or print lines? 20) How long can I go without printing? 21) When a clog does develop or broken lines start to appear in the prints what is the cleaning process? 22) Does the machine use the ink to "clean" itself? 23) Some inks have a certain shelf life before they "go bad"...does Brother inks have this problem? I used to sell technology solutions to customers. Not that easy when the manufacturer refused to provide technical specs of their products.
Wow! Brother tech support will be happy to provide answers to these technical questions. For now I can answer a few: 3) A 16" print out will take about 1min and a 36" banner takes 2 or 3. 4) The inks are standard CMYK ink jet inks. The same as you would find on any Brother inkjet office printer. 5) 15min of dry time. After that I recommend heat setting with an iron or heat press. 6) No weird odors 7) This is still being tested, so far there was a bit of fade on the first wash but nothing more after that. 8) The inks may bleed. It's recommended to wash alone for the first wash and wash with like colors in cold water after that. Air dry only. 10) Wash cold, air dry. It's important to note that this fabric was not designed for use in garments or items that are worn or washed frequently. 13) The USB port is meant to be used to print photos on photo paper. Like you would on a standard inkjet printer. 14) PrintModa was designed to be used with Artspira. There would be no point to buying this printer and using it without Artspira. 19) It's recommended to always leave the printer on (it will enter sleep mode) so that the self cleaning feature can run. By always leaving it on, PrintModa will self clean to prevent ink tubes from drying up and prevent ink waste.
I like your work space! You have so neat and organized!
Thank you so much!
Wow!!! Possibilities are endless!!!! So 3 yards if continued fabric until ink goes out? Or…? Only woven fabric?
It can print three yards continuously. One set of standard ink will last an average of 7 rolls of fabric (5.5 yards in each roll, totaling over 35 yards)! For now there is only one type of fabric available, and that is the white woven cotton.
Wow you really rock it!
Nice video! It seems to me you know this machine from left to right! Happy I found your channel! I have a multi needle machine, not Brother… but one day!
Happy to have you here!
Did the stand come in the box? Or separately?
The stand is a seperate accessory! Not included with the PR680W.
