Phil's only mistake was greed.
excellent video
You only need to win a few million dollers. If thats not enough. It's not the money you want.
But i don't understand, he sets up special rules like the suffler and guests at the table and the Casino AGREES then they get mad when he uses the equipment THEY gave him WILLINGLY, to win money from them: How is that ilegal???? He did not even touch the cards, how is this diffrent from just normal card counting? How is that breach of cantract but not normal card counting?
50:15 could've just used a different clip
Honestly, I've thought about it, and I kinda disagree with the narrative this video's top comments are promoting. I do think this WAS cheating. A total scam. It was smart, but in no way a legitimate way to play the game. But fuck the casinos. I root for any individual to get away with scamming a casino like this from pure ingenuity. The fact that Sun is still edge sorting because casinos won't even fix the flaws in their cards despite crying about them getting exploited is fucking hilarious. Hell, the casinos are guilty of this too. As you said, they actively socially engineer you to lose more money. They give you the hard to resist offer of free alcohol to make you lose more. So fuck them. (That said, Phil was kinda dumb to not quit while he was ahead lmao, I gotta admit that)
I Goddamn hate casinos so much it's unreal
Casinos really are the worst losers
This could have been at least 5 minutes shorter. There was no reason whatsoever to waste all the extra time with the mini-documentary on Moneymaker.
the song at 14:02 is Undertale OST: 010 - Ghost Fight slowed down a bit.
It's somewhat baffling the UKSC opted to hold the ruling because getting the casino staff to rotate cards fixes a deck. If the casino is willing to do that, it's on them. Ivey cooked up a masterclass in social engineering and it's hard to argue that he cheated from that. He exploited a weakness in the game, and more importantly, in the casinos themselves.
My main takeaway is that court rooms are like casinos. It feels like they are also just using chance and maybe thats why they felt they should judge in the casinos way, they felt a conection... I love such love storys! ❤
I like this channel a lot, but it feels very similiar to emp lemon, the re-colored simpsons clips and the storytelling.
12:48 "Advantage players" is such a stupid word, the advantage you gain by card counting is legal and then their reputation get dragged down by getting genreralized with the cheaters and thefts.
Im too deep in the poker rabbit hole, I just watched Emp Lemons video on Mr. Moneymaker
Make more vids boss
An ad every 4 minutes? Way to ruin your own video
someones a hotline miami fan... 2 consecutive soundtracks? on top of a good video? someones also earnt a subscribe.
You have a Philadelphia area accent. It's slight, but I would bet you grew up in south Jersey, Philadelphia, or thereabouts.
casinos are shit bags
23:31 what is that card trick card called
If you lose, you have to pay the casino or go to jail. If you win, the casino can refuse to pay on suspicion of cheating.
Millions of people win at casinos everyday. The hell are you talking about? They were cheating plain and simple
To all the people who yell “I’m not resisting” while resisting…this is what not resisting looks like!
It's crazy how people will still gamble when they know the house will always win. Even with the courts.
That's not true
I don’t understand how them making requests like spin the card around or use this deck of cards etc goes un noticed? That SCREAMS we are cheating! They have to know they are cheating right?
It didn't go unnoticed, they were just taking advantage of a design flaw no one was aware of. It maybe out of the ordinary, but how does rotating a card indicate cheating?
Not only should Crockfords and the Borgata have been forced to pay out, advantage play like Ivey and Sun did should be legally protected. Casinos should not be allowed to kick you out for advantage play nor should they be allowed to discriminate on if you can return or not on the basis of advantage play. If what they do is legal and protected, advantage play should be too.
What happened to your other videos?
How is this the only video on this guy's channel? He really came out SWINGING. Incredible stuff, great production quality
As crappy as it was, I do get the point that the UK Supreme Court judge made: If you get someone to give you access to a database through social engineering, that is considered fraud. They used social engineering to get the casino dealers to do things that, if they had done themselves, then it would have been considered cheating. It's not the edge sorting that was the problem. It was the social engineering. Casinos are not a monolith. They're not an infinite money glitch. They are a business. Casino employees need to be paid, as do contractors and partners and people who get lucky. They specifically targeted a struggling casino, one that was at risk of going under. And they knew that their actions could very easily be the tipping point when hundreds of people lose their jobs, businesses lose important clients, etc. All for the benefit of two multi-millionaires. So even the "Well, what's the harm?" argument that completely ignores all ethics and legality falls short.
>Phil Ivey >Best poker player of all time Eh... He's good. Definitely one of the best there is, but I wouldn't say the's the best of all time. You just claimed that he's better than Stu Unger of all people. Which is insane.
Ok that gengar sounds both awful and like it would be super funny to play
baccarat is "unbeatable"? Could you explain what you mean by this?
This lagged way to much with pointless info
amazing story telling good video
Great video thanks for taking the time to make it ❤
Phenomenal video. This whole situation is ludicrous. Unbelievable that casinos can use tactics to get money from players, but players can't use tactics to win. I wonder how much these judges were paid to make these verdicts
The law is a weapon, and it is pointed at you.
Good story. Never heard of any of it.
The casinos cheat in all there games and lower the pay outs
Believing that you can beat the casino, is like believing that this story needs 75 minutes to tell it. I'm glad I worked that out within 15 minutes.
NGL, the high court ruling that he effectively fixed the shoe via social engineering changed my mind. Not criminal, certainly, but enough to deny payment in a civil context IMO.
It's hilarious when you think about how much money Chris made for Ivey by beating em in that hand. Almost worthy enough to be called a damn cosmic joke.
hacking is not a crime
2:11 - Phil Hellmuth turned the video off here.
28:42 that’s clever, reusing the card for the “reuse cards” slide
They broke the golden rule, don't rob the rich. They make ALL the rules.
Must be nice having friends in high places. How much money do you think the UK's supreme justices pocketed from the casino lobby? I'd wager as much as Ivy was standing to profit, or more!
No music credit to Sunny Day Real Estate? Huh
The lesson is - just never give your money to a casino.
