    I have never seen the Chris Rock movie, but I will be watching it soon. I currently have sisterlocks, and I love them. After years of cutting, dying, weaving, braiding, and wigs I finally find what was good for me. My thoughts on good hair is whatever hair is good for you as an individual is good hair. There is no bad hair.

    I just want to start off and say thank you to Dr. Cornwell for all that she has done for the black community. Her story is unique and inspiring. It made me feel more love for myself and it is a joy to see how more black people are embracing their natural hair.

    I see this video is over ten years, my question for the Dr. Cornwell; I am a hispanic woman that have 3a to 3C curl texture. Would sisterlock be held up with my hair texture? Do I have to cut my hair for installation?

    Hmmm. The movie isn't about natural hair. It's about the black woman's pursuit of "other" hair that we have been taught is good hair. My mouth was on the floor at some parts. We're putting $1000 weaves on layaway but our children have no college funds. Still not over that.

    I wanted my hair to be natural, and sisterlocks was my answer to my prayer. I was willing too let a student do it, five days later it was tormenting, but it was good. Praise God! Then the virus lock us up for two and half months. Her teacher said she could fix it, she tried but I got a total mess. Now l just want too cut it off. Maybe one day I will try again.

    I just got my sister locs 8 months ago, I love them, but honestly they cost way to much to do and get retightened. I’ve seen RUclips review on doing your own micro locs and you would save so much money. I’m going to start retightening my own hair because it’s just too much. But I love that a black Woman started this business it’s not something other races can go out and copy to try and look like us. This is a style for us.

    Why cant we learn this simply with a tutorial? I understand the patent technique but..why keep the ones who cant afford the consultations in this hair crisis?

      Then other folks will try and steal it and claim it like they do for everything we invent. No way with our sister locks.

    Thanks for your comment. We've been looking into the whole range of hair loss issues and there are so many factors: medication, genetics, hormones, pH imbalance, fungal infections, autoimmune issues, and yes, traction. While it is possible for a Sisterlocks consultant with poor skills to inflict stress on the hair follicles by pulling too tightly, this is not an inherent part of the Sisterlocks system. I'm with you, "Your hair needs to be loved." Even when it is though, there might be other factors at work that can produce hair loss. Respectfully, Dr.C

    While all you women look beautiful, I am noticing some of you are thinning. Just be cautious ladies that method can cause early baldness, and I am speaking from experience. Your hair needs to be loved, not just retightened. My sisterloc journey was one that left me with low self esteem. While I trusted this method was best for me, I had to cut my locs off. Now I have to hide my baldness under wigs. I only paid for consultants to be my re-tights and I did not do the damage myself. I also noticed an inconsistent method for caring for the locs when dealing with various consultants. Glad you can laugh Dr. C, I am not laughing so much lately.

    I met her at a natural hair fair in the late 80s or early 90s. I was one of the first ones to get sisterlocks in my area. Black women used to "slide" up behind me in public and try to check my roots.

    This is so exciting, I wish Dr. Cornwell would train her consultants how to be professional, like cleaning their work area, finding daycare for their children, not overtightening the hair, and how to exactly care for the hair. If she does train in these areas, I know so many consultants who have failed at this. Dirty homes, kids running throughout the house, needing advil after retightening, and hair damage. So please emphasis that yes this is your business, but do it proudly and respectfully.

    • @fayetaylor1998
      @fayetaylor1998 7 лет назад

      Sogo Smile yes I can attest to "needing advil after a retightening". That's not good! I'm thinking of taking the retight class just so I can do my own hair. Aside from that it looks like these ladies really enjoyed themselves. Oh and check out all the black women "wiping" their own REAL hair. ha Got's to love that!!!

    I'm going for it in a yr, I'm natural and had a lot of heat damage from blowing it out. I'm giving myself a yr to fill back in and thicken back up because it became a lil thinner than it was from breakage. I can't wait!

    I'm glad I found out about this, I'm in my thirties and I've been through it all with my hair. The chemical burns from the relaxers the growth just to get dry and break off all the to the gelled down fake pony tails and bundles of Brazilian remy, I'm not saying you're wrong if you like those hair styles they look gorgeous for a while but I'm exhausted.... all of that work for someone else's hair. I'm excited to be getting sisterlocks this month.
