I was stationed as an allied soldier in West Germany during the end of the cold war and the CCCP, during '89-'90. It was a very real thing... If you broke up with your ex girlfriend you can't kick in her front door after 30 years, claiming she is still yours an have your way with her. That's criminal! Yet that is what Russia is doing. Yesterday I saw a part of a documentairy series on people of Estonia, Lithuania etc. Their fear is real in the whole region, and the issue is especially hard to talk about among families living on both sides of shared borders. Furthermore, if Russia had overrun Ukrain, they also had more borders with NATO. It's just an exuse for Putin.

NATO is a group of countries in treaty to defend each other, Russia stays out of NATO then Russia has nothing to worry about from NATO. The aggressor here is Russia.
