Jon Carter came out to spray glyphosate on the Lucy Land food plots. The DJI T40 AGRAS is a fascinating machine. If it gets a good kill on the weeds, it's faster and lower cost than spraying with the tractor.

We're FINALLY getting to work on habitat improvements. That work begins with selling some timber, which means logging crews will be on-site for about a month.

These were all planted back in May. May 2024 was odd with more rain than typical. So I planted what I could but was not able to crimp. By not terminating the previous crop, I didn't get the weed mat from crimping. From the sky, these all look green. But there's enough Johnsongrass that some plots will need to be sprayed in early September.

The 24 Port Pro UniFi Switch in the Barn has failed again. So we must relocate that switch to an air-conditioned, low-humidity room. Hopefully inside the Butcher Kitchen works out great.

Myers Timber Company sent a dozer over to get access to the timber along the north 90-acre bowling alley. The loggers will access this from Clowney Road. Once they're done, we'll close off that blacktop access and still have an internal road for Lucy Land.

This is a 10-acre plot that takes all day long to drill.
In my opinion, a second loader to just load trucks and the truck driver loading himself... Delimber needs to be deliming and not loading .that second loader will pay for its self, I promise
HA! First of all, what these guys do is very impressive. Granted, I don't really know what I'm watching when they're working, but to see all the heavy equipment operators doing their logging thing is quite fascinating. Now having said that, watching some of the truck drivers maneuver around the loading decks, man, I wouldn't let them drive a video game, let alone a loader that doesn't belong to them!
I have been a logger in the northeastern US for 30 years. From that perspective, I am impressed with this job. The spacing of the residual stand looks great. My only concern would be runoff into water body adjacent to the job. Maybe some erosion control measures in order.
