@@MrPista I’m a singer, and I was doing a show in Hollywood and I met a woman from Innsbruck, Austria. After the show, she stayed with me in L.A. for a couple of weeks. When she left, she invited me to come and stay with her in Austria. I intended on staying 3 months, but when I did a show in Munich, I liked it so much that I decided to move there. I’ve also lived in Frankfurt, but eventually moved back to Munich and I’ve been here ever since. Now I have an 11 year old daughter here, so I’m not going anywhere.😉

But we just drove through there on a Trip to Austria. And it was beautiful... But the best Part about Munich I think, is the landscape and Nature around it, because it's all so close but so different

Best Option would probably be to insure it through your parents I guess, as insuring your first car in your Name is damn expensive. I mean, I just turned 18 like 1 and 1/2 months ago and my parents gifted me a kind of family insurance policy. So I can drive all cars in my family circle (even Cousins and Grandparants cars that are insured by different companies) for like 400€ a year👀 Sadly it only Covers cars up to 20 years of age... So I can drive 3 cars and the other 7 or 8 not🥲 So that example also wouldn't work for your case with a Miata🤷‍♂️ So I suggest you to talk to your parents about it and just do more Research fitting your situation, yk?

How expensive are they to maintain?

@@Birl well, it depends. There are some rather common quirks they can have (some cheaper than others) and there is a lot of age related maintnance that comes up at some point in time. So stuff like bushings or seals can just get Bad over the years. So if you get a well maintained one, you will save yourself a lot of money and time (if they were kept up with maintnance). But if you get yourself one in Bad condition, it can get really expensive if you're unlucky...

@@MrPista 205.000 Got it last Monday, already nearly 500km on it from my end It’s a long commuters diesel…. Purrs like a kitten, but the chassis isn’t in the best shape and it has a little service backlog because he had a new car and didn’t want to pour money into this anymore I’ll do what needs to be done, it went in today for a new rear tire that had no profile anymore (all 7 other tires are basically new) and an overdue Oil change, and they’re looking at the brakes to see if it needs calipers only or also disks which will be done after I know how expensive it will be together with a couple other things After that I’ll look how expensive it is to get it through TÜV, it still has it until December, and I only need it until November when I’ll probably get my dads current company lease (2019 Volvo V60)

@@elytus8245 also in Deutschland ist Winter ja sowieso "relativ" haha Aber mit guten Winter Reifen und einiger maßen vorsichtiger Fahrweise (wie mit jedem Auto im Winter) sollte man gut klar kommen. Man muss aber trotzdem im Kopf behalten dass es eben ein sportliches Auto ist! Sicherheit ist leider kompliziert mit dem MX-5. Alt, klein, leicht... und somit im Falle eines Unfalls weniger schützend (ältere Autos sind häufig so, schon allein wegen Sicherheitsstandards zur Herstellungszeit). Und da die Karre einfach was kleiner ist, kann man für andere schlechter sichtbar sein. Demnach sollte man defensiv fahren, wie man es auch in der Fahrschule lernt, nh? Also das sollte alles kein Problem wirkliches Problem werden, aber man sollte bedenken dass der Wagen eher für Freude mit Budget entwickelt wurde. Also muss man allgemein etwas achtsamer sein beim Fahren. Hoffe ich konnte dir weiter helfen!

@@MrPista it only had one owner. I find it on the internet, it was a bit expensive (18.500€) but it like brand new. And the low mileage was worth the price.

@@MrPista yes i agree with you. i got a super deal on mine from a rich guy in south florida for $6,700 he had 20 super cars and needed the room for another and this was his wifes grocery car basically and had souped it up big time but i got super lucky finding this cash deal and this was before covid happened and he had replaced the timing/water pump and all maintenance records/upgrades. you also want to make sure the timing chain/belt has been replaced at 70k i find on the newer models you will see all of them for sale at 70k ish miles because they are avoiding replacing the maintenance of the timing belt trying to sell it to an unsuspecting buyer who are not educated on german cars, not realizing it costs 4-7k to pay a shop to do it. but for the price the mk1 tt is one of the cheapest entry sports cars. but it needs to have been taken care of at least half way or it can be a nightmare. i have still spent upwards of 10k in maintenance in 5 years and mine never missed a service.

My plan was to use an E39 BMW 5 series as a enthusiast practical daily driver for errands and taking my dog and parents around when needed and then use my MB SL more as a fun weekend sports car. The MB SL is horrid on gasoline and putting miles on it will result in expensive repairs down the line. So i wanted the fuel efficient e39 525i … im not into acceleration or power on a 5 series… my SL has that.

@@loordgabriell5694 well, a 328i vs 525d is not really a fair comparison I think... A 530i would probably be a better Follow up to your E36. The Extra 40HP or sth should cancel out the extra weight, aber in terms of going fast

@@MrPista hell no. 6 speed manual. E90 335 x drive, e53 v8 and f15 50i. The e90 was fast as shit but kinda tight inside. The e53 was a good suv but the ergos bugged me and the auto trans took a shit. The f15 is decent but has a lot of rattles.

And I'm nearly scared by insurance and Gas prices here🥲 So I don't even know if I should buy a car (looking at manual BMW E39 528i and 530i for 2-4k) or just get my motorcycle license (costs like 3k) and look forward from there... I mean I looked at some insurance quotes a few months ago and Landed between 1.8-2.5k € a year or sth, if I get an E39 soon after my birthday. And that's not really worth it when my parents have 3 cars and I'll stay with them for a few more years

@@Mel12722 that Argument about roads focus is not great I feel like... Even though I guess I understand her thought. 🤔 Driving a manual, you have to focus more on the road than in an automatic car. Becauese you gotta Look ahead and think about where to drive at what speed in which gear. Also you will be so used to changing gears that you don't need to Look away from the roads or anything at all🧐 At least that's how I'm driving haha In Germany, as I'm 17, I can only drive in Company of my parents. In my dads manual car, I have a feeling for how fast I'm going and need to put more thought into reacting to what's ahead of me and when to shift to be at whatever needed speed... In my mums automatic car, I hardly get a feel for which gear I'm even in and feel less concentrated driving it. To be fair, I have way more seat time in my dads car and I'm biased becauese I think manuals are also way more fun to drive... But I still stand for what I said And apart from that, I feel more Comfortable driving a manual, especially at lower speeds and parking, becauese I have more Precise control using the clutch (instead of waiting for what the car decides to do with it's clutch in an automatic)

@@SchroederLPs I'd actually be very happy to work on my own car :) The cool think about it is that I got quite a bit of mechanic knowledge throughout my family, so I have access to basically all the tool 👀 523 and 525s actually make more sense so I'm always thinking like... Idk, a 528i is faster... And we have the Autobahn...

Oh wow! The E34s are amazing, so congratulations my guy! A 530i of that era is basically perfect... Fun to drive, sounds decent, rather reliable etc I'm actually looking at getting a 528 or 530i as my first car rather soon, though I think I'm leaning towards the E39 as they are a good bit cheaper hahaha

Have 2 e39 530’s currently and use to have a 525 i. Maintain them properly(reasonable costs) and they will always pay you back.

@@MrPista long story I have 1 in one country and another in another country(both auto) the one that’s in the Uk is an individual in Swartz black with white leather. I use to have a manual 525 which I loved to sling around 🤪

Maybe 😂 You can really find a lot of great Deals here... We have a lot of E39s and I actually spent quite some time the last few weeks looking at prices etc. And I came along a lot of 528i and 530i models with 200-250k km (~120 to 150k ish miles) for 2-4k € and they sold super quickly👀

I mean I didn't really know about that, living in Europe yk But it makes sense I guess... Some have rust issues and people who own them often don't sell them. And there are way fewer in the US anyways... So thanks for the info! It's quite unfortunate though Here in Germany, I See a lot of them around. There is a street close to me where literally 4 E39s are parked basically behind Each other, on the side of the road💀 And what feels like every time driving around, I see at least one on the road...

And how much work does it need to work with the car? 👀

Sounds quite interesting... I mean it makes sense, but I personaly have never heard of that before 🤔 About the oil, try finding one where the plastic hasn't gone anywhere and is perfectly fine so you can preserve it that way haha But it's a good point regardless! For example to check how well a previous owner trated his car or to preserve a freshly repaired, rebuilt or refurbished one. I mean they are pretty Reliable engines in general and a ton of the ones for sale here in Germany are quite high milage (like 300-400k km aren't rare at all) And their electrical faults and quirks are super annoying and can get expensive quickly, but I don't think most of them are too bad or f*ck up the car entirely
