NOT A BLADE OF GRASS, Really made a hit, in dedication to his country of birth, Guyana. This song was on everybody lips, singing away the truth. Venezuela, leave Guyana alone.
Rest in peace my friend. Thank you for the entertainment.❤
R.I.P love his song!!
Mr. Dave was a Man Wid Backbone and spoke it through his 🎵🎶🎶
😢. Rip Mr Dave Martins, I remember wen the trade winds band 1st came to the Cayman islands, d performances @d Agriculture Shows, Pirates wk district days. 😢🎉❤
Condolences to Dave Martins family and friends, he's a legend. My favourite songs from him are HONEY MOON IN COUPLE and Caribbean man. I always look forward to his visits and performances in Barbados. May he rest in peace, he live a full and enjoyable life
RIP David Martins! You are Guyana legendary dedicated son! The Lord has called you home to rest. Condolences to his beautiful beloved wife, children, friends and fellow Guyanese far and wide. I do hope the President will honour him with a monument on the Essequibo Coast. I left Guyana 1968. Last year as we drawn to the threats from Venezuela, claiming our beautiful and resourceful Essequibo coast, David’s most fitting and catchy song “not a blade of grass” brought me back home and my early childhood days living on the Essequibo Coast picking those tasty fruits and tried unsuccessful to catch small birds and those colourful parrots with my brother as they swarmed our mango tree. Those were fun times. High school in Georgetown was not the same. Coming home soon!
Rest in peace Dave Martins
Really Garden city , for me its a FFFFFING GARBAGE CITY . TIRED OFTHE PNC AND PPP CANT GET ALL THE GARBAGE OUT INCLUDE THEMSELF
SIP misic legend
R.I.P. Dave Marten
My favourite number of this singer is Chinese bluss and mrs Macmillan, rip mr.Dave
Isn't there a scheduled municipal trash pick up for both residential and commercial streets? With feral dogs roaming the place, sturdy trash receptacles are needed. Loose bin bags will get ripped open.
It's simple a sustainable SYSTEMIC problem requires a sustainable SYSTEMATIC solution. SYSTEMIC vs SYSTEMATIC.
Ask your pppee govt
WHAT should the people do with their garbage. Should they be keeping it in their homes or backyard..?? The most they should be asked to do is Put it on the roadside for pick up. BUT NOBODY collecting the trash budday !!!! As a matter of fact it is BETTER is everybody bring their garbage to a central location, ( like they did by the hospital), and have the authorities pick it up, one-stop from there. BUT NOBODY collecting the trash budday !!!
Racist govt! Mocha🙄
EG, hope you got more than box cook up for doing govt suk🙄
Wuk
Well I don't see portable public garbage. Maybe putting Big Garbage containers within every 2 block radius would make a difference.
it's a dirty culture Guyanese ppl develop have back home, ministry of education need to stop litter in school curriculum
Guyanese will never learn, they're stayed dirty, but if the laws would have would have been more severe and enforced ,but no
Want to solve the problem, pay the garbage collectors a bank mangers salary, then all those throwing garbage will be funding and gainfully employing someone enjoying a lavish lifestyle. Guyanse would hate the success of the garbage man in his fancy car and ting, that would stop them throwing garbage.😂😂
Put camera an charge them big time
The Guyanese people when they go overseas don't litter, they fall in line of the laws.
It's both government and the nasty and indisciplined citizens to be blame and my question is when they bring the garbage there who they expect to dump it
Implement a system to activate their conscience as well as to facilitate effective daily sanitary routine. Nationwide surveillance is an effective way to expose and hold accountable the culprits.
It needs a nationwide educational program on personal and environmental cleanliness and hefty fines for littering and illegal dumping of garbage.
We loved him in St. Kitts too. RIP Dave.
Can someone explain why so narrow?
U will never get that explanation I myself need the explanation because it's looks so wrong

Dave Martins had his own unique style and phrasing with his music. I will continue to enjoy his inspirations forever ! 😇
I grew up in the Northern Caribbean and could identify with your music. Thank you Sir for all the wonderful memories. RIP.
Most guyanese may never know that you recorded "-the blade of grass"in 1980 during the kabaca era probably at the Terry Nelson recording studio on the East coast of demerara. MY BROTHER MOSES SAW YOUR SHOW IN TORONTO WITH THE TRADE WINDS.
He lived a full and rewarding life. He was a son of guyana 's soil and guyanese to the bone.RIP from your fans in Toronto canada.
I used to go to his club in Toronto in the early 70's. It was called "We Place" . It was a great place to party in those days. RIP Dave.
Dave Martin will always remain a Caribbean legendary iconic artiste. He gave us so many classics that are played to this day. A simple humble soul - he now has returned from whence he came. I cannot speak TO him as he has exhausted his lifetime here on earth, Neither will I speak about him since he is not here to defend any statements made on or against him - but rest assured - they're all good. It's people like him who give me my own pride as a singer. Love to DM from Trinidad and Tobago and The USA❤. Peace
❤❤❤... long forever will live great music ty sir amazing music ..not that other music guyanese people follow who dont even understand the songs they listening to.😂...ty
Dave is the Gandhi of Guyana may your soul rest in peace you will be walking in heaven the angels are waiting to welcome you to eternity

RIP dave martin will live in our heart as a hero of guyana .his song will live on forever
My condolences to the family, may his soul RIP in Jesus' name, Amen.
I hope someone could do an in-depth documentary on the life of this guy, if it hasn't been done as yet, as a reference/teaching guide for future generations. A buddy of mine, Lloyd Budhram, "The Man in the street Guy" during the 80's, did a documentary on the Radio Announcers and programs on Guyana's radio from the 60's to 90's. There are two parts so far. Hopefully some one uses that as a guide to do a documentary on the life of Dave Martin. It sure would be history preserved.
There has to be a street in Georgetown named after this guy. Also, I remember Dave's nightclub in Toronto(We place) in the mid 70s, a really nice lime on Saturday night for the early Guyanese migrants in Canada.
@@maxb6057 That would be nice but the Street should be over West Demerara where he was born and raised. Hague, Vreedenhoop or Pouderoyen are all good places. Maybe a piece of the new West Coast Demerara highway should carry his name. I prefer something more like an in-depth Documentary. Something for the record books. As for Toronto I didn't make it to Toronto until the Late 80's/early 90's. San Francisco Bay Area is too beautiful and vast not to explore before going other cities. I got a glimpse of his band in 1974 at the Pegasus. The Tradewinds and the Dominators band on stage. I prefer the 3 guitar band. A few years later he replaced the Rhythm Guitar with a Keyboard.
Thanks for Richard for such of wonderful Interview. The Picture on 3:06 counter has a beautiful Picture. Is there anyone who knows what's the names of guys? They're most likely are Julien, Gerome and Jeffery. Jeffery, most likely is far left at the back. I am from Vreedenhoop and I played guitar with these guys at a very you age and they were older than me and I find it hard differentiate.
R .I.p. peace Dave Martins ,
Hope Guyana honour this national music treasure .
Honour him when he was alive!
