A visit to North Clear Creek Falls, and the Slumgullion Earthflow. Hinsdale County, Colorado U.S.A.
Some raw footage, and timelapse of some Hinsdale County, Colorado locations 2024. - North Clear Creek Falls - and - The Slumgullion Earthflow... a flow of rock, earth and water saturation. The earthflow currently flows at a rate of around 20 feet per year (1.6 feet per month). The flow has been flowing almost uninterrupted for over 700 years (with a slight pause 300 years ago). It is one of the planet Earth's best examples of a process called "mass wasting". The trees try to grow on this ever moving and writhing landscape and so they grow into bent or wiggly shapes as they slowly surf down the mountain. The flow is still being "fed" by water and the degrading "headwall" at the top....

    Came here after watching measuring SG of silver and gold coins. Coin guys use a square tank and a BASKET suspended into the water. The basket is easier to use than the string. Would be nice to see an experiment that shows how much results change if you drop the rock lower (more wet string). Rig a suspension over the cup to make it more stable, and don't dangle it from your wavy hand. Great video.

    Mount the camera/phone. Handheld shooting like this, is annoying. The viewer can't look at something interesting because of all the shaking and continuous left to right panning. Otherwise, somewhat interesting.

      Most of the "shaky" footage was captured by my camera sunglasses, they are "mounted to my head". It is a hands free way to record. I'm very proficient with the gold claw and believe me. Nothing gets out of it and you can do Uber a quarter of a 5 gallon bucket with the gold claw. You're just not using it right. Just like most other people that I find that have problems with gold claw. They're not using it right? The gold cloth gold pen is faster and better than my sluice box. I have given up all other Pans even the Turbo Pan that I used to use for the gold claw gold Pan. As well as giving up all of my slow sluice boxs.

    The washing machine agitation before the counter-clockwise motion looks like it gives the smaller gold particles the extra time they need to sink below the wash-out point after starting the counterclockwise motion that keeps dropping the gold and clears the lighter material . If your gold is 1/4 or 1/8 minus... I'm wondering if pre-classifing will be faster and speed up the process or be slower.

    • @paranorml1
      @paranorml1 11 месяцев назад

      I classify to 1/2 inch. I have tried pre-classifying with smaller mesh, but most of the time it is just extra work or time. There are some gravel/clay types that work better if you use fine classification first.

    • @WardCampbell
      @WardCampbell 11 месяцев назад

      @@paranorml1 for me 1/4 worked better than 1/8 for slucing (because it was faster)... so now I will try my new 1/2" xp classifier next time out and try to best fit the classifier to the pan or boxes I'm using. Thanks for the share! I am just learning about SG and have filled my head with a lot today! Your video helped put it all into perspective. A few years ago I purchased several hundred gemstones from someone who was buying jewelry just for the gold. I stopped in one day and for $100 he sold me all of the stones (only a small handful of very small diamonds). You would be AMAZED to know all of the gemstones I’ve found (I went back one more time before he went out of business) some worth over $10,000! A 3mm purple, color changing, oval sapphire! Now, it’s time to test them I’m a silversmith and truly enjoy making jewelry but some of these gemstones are just too special for my style of jewelry. I’m grateful for your video and the knowledge that you’ve shared with me. It will definitely help me in determining if my $200.00 (total of two trips) investment in these stones is going to be a FABULOUS investment!!!!

    First you need to go counter-clockwise, so that when you stratify your material... it will be within the circle, then you can go counter-clockwise to spin off all the junk off the top,... then you repeat the whole process again until you're left with nothing but your concentrates, and no you don't need a second pan, if you do it right you can get it all done correctly the first time and you're done!.... by the way nice video thanks for cheering 😀👍
