Wild About Utah
Добавлен 6 июл 2020
We catch fish and critters while exploring new places. My goal in creating videos is to inspire others (especially young families) to spend quality time as they explore the outdoors together. I have also discovered that there is great satisfaction in being educated on our surroundings. Therefore, another aim that I have with this channel is to help others learn more about some of the things that we frequently encounter while exploring nature.
Activities that we will focus on in our videos include, fishing, herping, Utah geography, and visiting destinations.
Please feel free to reach out with any questions or business inquiries at WildaboutUT@gmail.com

Why Are Fish Slimy? (It's not what I thought)
lol your brother ever tell you about the time I caught a cat fish and while I was getting the hook out it flipped out of my hands and stuck into my shoulder?. Hurt like crazy. His spike went at least an inch or so in and wouldn’t come out. Your brother had to run over and help me yank him out!
Yes! Canyon told me that story and I have thought of that often haha.
Nice! White bass, and I believe those other two were a blue car and a channel cat? Awesome fishing out there.
Where abouts is this? Looks like a nice area
Where is this place where you fishing i live in salt lake city utah
I hope that catfish was given a drink between clips😂
@@Ridge_Fishing haha of course
This is great to know if you’re thinking about targeting catfish for the first time. I’ve been stuck more than enough, and this would’ve been great to know starting out.
Knee high snake boots are a great investment. A rattlesnake bite can cost you a hundred grand.😥
Very valid point!
Rare leopard lizard extremely. Hard to catch
Awesome video!
Great video
Thanks!
I’m still pretty new to Utah. Where is this place located? I’ve only been to Lindon and American fork marina.
Sick!
I love your videos. I caught a "rainbow trout" the other day as well as a brown trout and a regular rainbow trout. The "rainbow" I caught has odd coloration. Can't find anything like it on google. It doesn't have solid pigments like a rainbow. All the scales are shiny and reflective, though it bares resemblance in coloration, but no solid markings like the green top and black spots, etc. All shiny scales. Thoughts? This river contains brown and rainbow trout, as well as Bear River Cutthroat, troutwise.
@@hydraxc2478 Thanks! I'm so glad you like the videos. Rainbow trout can be very variable in their appearance. I have caught a few that seem to match a similar description of what you described. Most recently I caught one that was almost completely silver out of Joe's valley Reservoir. My guess would be that you just caught a unique looking rainbow.
@@WildaboutUT That's what I thought too. It just sucks because nothing on google about it. I searched for everything under the sun, even toyed with the idea of a hybrid but it's developed like a rainbow. You'd think there would be something like it out there in the ether. Maybe I'll call wildlife game and see if they can tell me if it's a mutation or something.
Very informative video. Recently I have caught what appears to be Large Mouth Bass in the St. Marys River bordering Florida and Georgia. But, they are rather large and thin, and red tinted. Plus they are hanging out in the shallow rapid running water. I wish I had pictures of them but…
Isn't that venomous?
Nope. Completely harmless
I was there just this Friday and the wiper night was awesome!!
@@fasteddie8225 super fun!
Amazing vid keep it up
Thank you so much! I deeply appreciate it!
I have always been told that near the fall if the temps drop low everything will go into early hibernation. Is this actually true? For example if it was a week of mid sixties to low seventies and then went back up to mid/high seventies to eighties would they come back out.
Yes, that's how I understand it as well. Washington county is always a sure thing if you're willing to go that far this time of year.
Would love to know where to find the pike, havent caught one in years. Would also like to find a good spot for the LMBass. :-)
@@izzlate supposedly Hobble Creek is a good place to find Pike. Honestly, I haven't done much searching there myself but I know a lot of people catch them there.
The kids excitement is gold
Nice Wiper. That storm was pretty crazy.
Looks like a great time!! I’ve never fished that part of the lake.. only by painted rocks and never had much luck.
I'm from Rexburg, I was traveling to Vegas in early July and visited this lake shortly, I was almost fishing at the same spot as you did here. The water level was much higher.
@@Justin-zw1hx cool! How was the fishing for you?
Hey teach
Love your vids!! You willing to say where you caught the blue frog?
Thanks I'm glad you are enjoying the videos! Unfortunately I don't plan on disclosing where I caught the blue frog because it is such a small area that could easily be over run.
@@WildaboutUT I understand, Thanks anyway. My son is obsessed with trying to find a blue bullfrog so I had to try. We live in Utah county, hope to see you around some time.
Whlait do kohe Salmon aren't native!?
Nope. There are no native salmon species in Utah.
Yeah
Nice perch for starvy.
That looks a lot like 5 mile pass. :)
Good guess but not quite!
That’s a monster perch!
@@rightanglefishing I know, I couldn't believe it! Came as a total surprise. I've never even seen a perch that big in Utah.
Thank you for not pulling it out
Where was you fishing?
Cool
Thanks for the tips.
Really loved this. I have seen many of these myself. However, just this year in Box Elder County, I have seen two blue racers. One I caught and examined for a minute. One was sadly ran over.
@@hydraxc2478 Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it. Blue racers can look very similar to the Western Yellow Bellied Racer however Blue Racers are only found in the mid west. Are you sure it was a blue and not a western yellow-bellied?
@@WildaboutUT I guess they were. But they were more blue and black than the pics I see on Google.
@@hydraxc2478 Yeah they are very similar. It doesn't help that there is some variation within the species. Cool!
Awesome!!!
Well said! I appreciate your experience and willingness to share it
@@KellyPrestwich Thank you!
Nice! Super cool you’re working with DNR
Yeah I'm absolutely loving it! It's been a phenomenal experience. I'm getting to do a lot of neat things and learn a lot of cool stuff.
Great video. I’m surprised how many people don’t know this
Where at yuba is this?
If you don't mind me asking where was that location? East or west of the Spanish Fork River ?
Just hangin out watching the sunset with his new catfish friend, he’ll remember that forever.
The time im waiting for😊
Was that a channel cat or a bullhead? You know that little guy will never go hungry. I know it has served me well learning to fish at a young age.
That was a channel catfish.
Dad put a vest on that lil dude. great technique of learning spin cast.
I like this spot for little kids because the water's only about a foot deep.
Little man did awesome bringing that big fish in! Dad’s doing awesome spending that precious time together!!
Excellent job, both of you.
Awe he’s so cute and adorable getting such a big fish and you dad keep up the good work being an awesome father
He is only 2? Great job Dad!!!
@@reneet2897 yep haha. Thanks
Very 1st memory i have is my gramma mortified that my dad let me fight with a 18 pound Northern Pike for like 20 min my dad kept saying good job buddy your battling a fish it pulled me damn near pulled me out of the boat 4 times my dad had rope tied to my rod but i never needed it when i got the fish in i remember my day saying as he cut the rope off my rod "Looks like your strong enough to battle your own monsters" i remember getting home and working out like a crazy person lol by the time i was 16 i was 225 jacked farm boy ...this one memory turned me into a man .....i love that your son wanted the rod back the MOMENT you told him "good job" ...your kids mentality is great
