Wild Goose
Австралия
Добавлен 2 янв 2018
Hi,
My name is David and I am a water person at heart.
I was a professional sailor for the first half of my life racing skiff and focusing on going fast. Those days are left behind and I own an 11m(37') sloop called Wild Goose. I purchased her back in 1998 as a wreck and have spent my time ever since looking after her. She has done 5 Sydney to Hobart Races in her time although I converted her and along with its owner put her firmly in the cruising pasture!
Please join me as I follow my passion for all things sailing. I would love for you to subscribe and please leave any comments or feedback or fire some questions at me to try and answer!
If you are enjoying my videos and would like to contribute to the maintenance and upkeep of the Goose and the equipment needed to make these videos I would super appreciate any donation no matter how large or small.

Stay active my friend. It helps. Managing loss is tough. I actually enjoyed seeing you riding that foil you made it look so easy. Awesome and thank you sir.
Thank you so much. The foiling is a great distraction! Appreciate it. 🙏
get yourself a better mike then it will be perfect
Thanks mate- I had some mic/ battery issues!
yamba is a terrible place. dangerous. stinks. rotten joint. wouldnt bother visiting meself.
Ha! Terrible😳
Hey, you weren't supposed to spill the beans.
Sorry, but it’s just too nice not to!
Great to see you back on the board . Lovely video.
Thanks mate- keen to leave these issues and get back to doing what I love most!
💪🏽🙏🏽🤙🏽 inspirational
Nice smooth surface!! 🛹💪🏽🙏🏽🤙🏽
I’m a seasoned sailor and I an so sick of people sprinkling salt and pepper on me !😡
Love the setup Dave… It is looking great. What a way to travel and see the country.. You have everything u need :)
Thanks mate- definitely feeling comfy! Hope your well. Looking forward to catching up!
Magic scenery and very peaceful ambience!
And so many places on the way we have ridden!
my mum is gonna get me one for christmas maybe
Be especially nice!
Well done mate, I hope the legs aren’t too bad today?
Thanks, getting on to ride to erbaccas this morning I could feel it!
Beautifully Shared David🥰 I recall very vividly my first expererience on a real sailing vessel when we went over to the basin and checked Rogers 'new' yacht... an S&S 30 and the plug to any 30's. Full moon heading out of Box head after dropping the mooring in Pretty Beach. Fascinated by you hitting a button and seeing the main unfurl out of the mast...and in turn unfurling the headie and handing me a coffee and saying "This is what I love to do and is my passion". In that moment a switch was flicked and a metaphysical shift occurred and in that sharing... I was hooked! It was a moving experience and will never forget it. Thank you and I acknowledge you for sharing your adventures and life with so many and imparting your knowledge and wisdom with me and many others. I get the pain of parting with The Goose and really got the gratitude for the extordinary experiences she provided. Looking forward to chatting on the phone as there's much to share and catch up on over the past 24years. Cheers Rob
Hey David, told you would enjoy it.
Thanks for the tip!
Beautiful ride David! Love the lush green ferns and pristine , peaceful lake .
Thanks JM. Looking forward to riding in this new era together!
Good on you shippo yewww 😛👍

Wow, some really great footage of an amazing rider Dave… Love it!
Thanks mate- getting plenty of practice in!
Love it mate, great to see you have guests come in and share as well
Loved it Dave. Looks like a great trip. Not where I would take the tesla, lol, but looks like a great trip. What Drone were u using for the tower view?
Thanks mate- fun bringing in the experts!
Not in this rain!
Nice review! Can XPS 6.1 be my first wings, I just started, have 100 kg and board 110l. Can I use it from 13 knots? What is your advice? Or maybe to start with some bigger wing?
No, it’s a great wing to use, easy to handle and love its performance.
you do know you cant have fires on fraser island right
Can’t now 😎
Thank you shippo for introducing me to foiling it was a lot of fun to learn and I can't wait to try it on the water!
Your a natural- can’t wait to see you on the water!
What foil setup were you using in Port?
Fanatic 1750 with 82cm mast!
We found this to be very helpful thank you 😊 we will be there later this year via boat
Thank you. So pleased it’s helpful. Let me. Know if you have any questions.
Watching your vids atm as we plan our trip from Bribie to Fraser ❤ newest Subscribers 😊 PS very informative thanks mate
🙏
Great video thanks for sharing 👍🏄🏼♂️
Thank you🙏
Promo-SM ✅
I love the description and understanding of apparent wind, very cool. Thanks for sharing Dave. Keep it coming.
Thanks mate, appreciate it.
Great breakdown, thanks for sharing
Thank you.
Great video David. Curious about how powerful the wing is, say compared to similar sized Unit? heard the XPS suffers from poor low end, though it shouldn't given the higher canopy tension.. Cheers!
Thank you🙏. Horses for courses probably! Honestly, it handles differently but once used to it, not a problem!
@@WildGooseAdventures Thank you David!
Looked like a good time !
Brilliant. The key to getting good footage with 360 cameras is getting the camera further away from you, else it gets horrible fish eye distortion. Your mount does just that. I've ruled out the 360 for this very reason until I saw your solution. Good on ya.
Thank you. I like to try different place!
Thank you for the video 😊. I was in Port Macquarie around 5 years ago with my family and met a guy who told me about South West Rock and that it was worth a trip. Next trip to Australia gotta check it out 👍
It’s well worth the visit! Lovely spot. Crescent Heads is also nice! Thanks David
I have a 5.5, 6.1 and and 8. This was the 6.1.
great video mate! You ever foil in hervey bay area? Wondering if its deep enough.
Thank you🙏. Haven’t for a while but yes. Plenty of water!
@@WildGooseAdventures nice, what size wing do you use?
Holy crap I live on a boat as well. Sorry for your loss.
Thanks mate🙏
Loved the tunes
Shame man, you ride fone foil on Armstrong gear 👎
Ha mate, keep watching- the switch is undergoing 😅
Keep riding…life is short spend it fully and goodies…fair winds!!
Too true! Thank you 🙏same to you!
Actually as I kept watching your review…I like the way you present it..seems personable..
🙏
Great vid. Why you say not good for first wing? I already ordered the 5.3 as my first wing.
Great-have fun. It has a lot of drive for ire
Sure. I just found it very fine tuned and perhaps lacks the general all round qualities when learning. If you don’t know anything else it may be helpful and once your flying it exceptional! I’d love to hear how you get on.
Hi Jesse, with these rigid wings it takes some technique to get low-end performance. Especially when the profiles are flatter than on comparable wings. It probably just takes a bit more wind to get going. I already love my 4m XPS after two days of winging. I probably get a 3m and 5.3 as well. Have fun with the 5.3, it#s a great performance-wing!
Good footage man
Thanks stone🙏
Awesome video Dave, can’t wait to see you give a review on the roof top tent. It looks amazing. Loving the Foiling, you’re a champion at it :)
Thanks mate🙏
Great review. How does it compare to other deeper wings like f-one CWC 6m?
I probably need to do a comparison! I do appreciate the extra tension in the canopy and certainly the radial design will give longevity to the structural integrity. I’m really looking forward to north launching a 3d wing- I suspect that will be a game changer!
Nice review thanks.
I hope it was useful 😅
We are there right now . My son is a videographer and had to film the region for a developing company . It is so scenic there . There were whales swimming in the water and that is priceless .
Glad you appreciated it as well! Whales would make all the more special😎 enjoy!!
How many liters of the board on the video
135 ltrs
@@WildGooseAdventures Do you think you could have sized down to the 115L board and had as much fun? I'm trying to decide between the 135L and the 115L. I'm only 170lbs, but think the 135 may be a lot more stable due to the larger dimensions.
@@bmrbca3658 definitely, the board is stable and once going would be great! I have actually been playing with the 90ltr board to compare and it’s really good although in the waves the smaller board is much more difficult to manage!
@@OrlovAleksandr 135ltr!
@@WildGooseAdventures Thanks. Have you tried the 115L to see if there is much difference in stability between that and the 135L board?
