Takashi Yoshimatsu - [吉松隆] - 'Dorian' - for Orchestra - Op. 9 - 1979
This piece is Yoshimatsu's 9th work and it is one of the composer's early orchestral works. It is extensively chromatic and extremely atonal at times unlike many of Yoshimatsu's other works such as his 4th Symphony or his Piano Concerto - 'Memo Flora'. The piece was premiered on the 21st June 1980 by the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Kazuyoshi Akiyama.

Takashi Yoshimatsu - [吉松隆] - Bassoon Concerto - 'Unicorn Circuit' - Op. 36 - 1988
Просмотров 8 тыс.6 лет назад
This piece is Yoshimatsu's 36th work and the music depicts a unicorn, a mythical being, prancing through three of the four seasons. A unicorn (or 'Kirin' in the East) is a divine animal which is said to bring about signs of good luck, equally with the Chinese mythological creatures phoenixes, dragons, tortoises, etc. It also possesses invincible aggressiveness together with peerless tenderness....
To me this is fire genius, imho
very colorful piece
この曲好きすぎる
初めて聴いた時は衝撃受けました!
what a beautiful bassoon concerto! amazing! i enjoy it very much! thank you for sharing!
Interesting piece- I wonder if it might be a kind of sister or companion piece for "The Age of Birds" of two years prior.
It is a companion piece but not to 'The Age to Birds'. It's actually the second installment in Yoshimatsu's trilogy of pieces that revolve around mythological creatures, the other two being his Guitar Concerto - 'Pegasus Effect' and his Violoncello Concerto - 'Centaurus Unit'.
Where can I buy the music for this?
The score is available for purchase on a Japanese score website, but I have tried to obtain said score and it is extremely difficult because the website is tailored specifically for Japan. :(
Rory Craig, maybe I can contact someone in Japan to buy it for me and send it to me.
It could be worth a shot.
