Random Trip to Maryland and back with Bridge and Concrete Sounds
The day after Christmas I made a quick trip down to Maryland and recorded the concrete bridges and sections along PA Route 581 East, US 15 South, US 40 West, I-70 West, and I-81 North. All of the bridges and sections have been featured in previous videos and are retakes.

Thank you! I'm surprised PennDOT made it that long. Usually most sections in the state are between 2 and 6 miles.
@ConcreteSquirrel ODOT did make a two really long sections as well, US 33 near West Virginia and South Athens, and US 24 to Fort Wayne
I used to live in Tyrone, and we always used this highway to go to my grammy's on Exit 81, and this was always my favorite part of the highway.
Interstate 99 has to be my favorite highway. Used to travel on this highway every two years or so to visit by grandma who lived in Edinboro. It's a shame they decided to resurface the concrete north of exit 81 with asphalt around 2021.
This is my most favorite part of I-99! It's the reason I like highways a lot 🙂
Me too! Always liked this road since I was a young child. Wish they made more highways that sounded like this.
I think De Route 1 has best sounds. And Driving on route 1 in Delaware is like the best at around 67 mph

You deserve more subscribers! The audio quality is just amazing for your videos I have a suggestion for someday: You should do I-80/I-99 Concrete Section in State College, PA. They have amazing groovings there, like Indiana, WVDOT! It's worth the trip there
Thank you Drake! I greatly appreciate that. I've always loved that section of I-99, it's a classic! Used to always go up that way twice a year to visit my grandma who lived in Erie before she passed. I made a video on I-99 a few months ago on the concrete section from exit 73 to mile 83.4. If I ever go back up there, I hope to record exit 73 south to exit 52 someday.

Sorry about not seeing your comment in time. I checked Ohio's DOT website to see if they have any records or map relating to concrete but sadly it doesn't seem so. They most likely have a internal non-published map for keeping track of sections to maintain. I used Google Earth too before finding out about the OneMap tool in my state.

I didn't record the bridge going over exit 161, just the bridges from Emlenton to the exit.
Great Video!! I love that Geneva Section, it was very similar to a section on I-76 between exit 57 and 54 in ohio where I’m at that got grinded. I also love the conneaut/ashtabula bridge sections on I-90! There always a joy to drive on. Thanks for the video!
Thank You! I'm glad you enjoyed the video with the Geneva section and the I-90 bridges. Some of the bridge sounds in Ohio are much louder then in PA.
I never went through this part of PA before, but just by watching this video, the concrete sound kind of sounds like either I-78 west of the NJ state line, or I-81 north of I-78’s western terminus. And the bridges sounds like a very low pitched Florida concrete sound.
I've never been on those concrete sections in PA, so it is interesting to hear about other areas on I-81 and I-78 in PA having similar sounds to this.
Why did you think this was worth recording and posting?
I know this road being grooved longitudinal isn't the most impressive sounding, I just wanted to mainly showcase some of the bridge sounds in this video.
