    How do I in another scenario, after ticking a check box (Example row 20) then it will proceed to move up to row 2? The scenario is that I will have lets say 30 row of random data, and a check box on each row, after I check, it will rearrange to the top. So if I check row 20 now, it goes to row 2, I check row 15, it goes to row 3, I check row 21, it goes to row 4 and so forth? Cause I want to keep track in order the task I did after checking everything.

    Hey there - this was a helpful video. I have created a group as you showed in the video in Google Contacts. When I open up Google Calendar and try to create a meeting, I click on Guests and put in the group as I named them and nothing comes up. In fact, none of my Google Contact show up (there are almost 2000 in Google Contacts). Any idea what I might be missing? Thanks.

      If a timestamp is what you are looking for, Insert a check box in A2. Then enter =IF(A2=TRUE,IF(B2<>" ",B2,NOW())," ") in B2. When you check the box in A2, the date and time will display in B2.

      Just replying late in case anyone like me is watching this is 2024! The correct formula in relation to checkboxes is =AND($C2=TRUE, $D2=TRUE). You can add as many checkboxes as you like and the formula won't format any of your selected range unless ALL of them are checked.

    I have a checkbox in column E I know how to make check boxes and I know how to make it so if I check it I can turn column c red. What I dont know how to do is if I have a checkbox in E and also in F if just E is checked it is red if just F is checked it is blue but if both E and F are checked it turns Green. I have the checkbox values set to 5 so E=5 and F=5 but both E and F = 10 what is the formula to change the color of a column when 2 or more check boxes are checked

    • @OfficeTechEDU
      @OfficeTechEDU 3 года назад

      Hey Duston, It took me a minute during free time to figure out what you need to do. Ok, you have E set to Red, F set to Blue with the validation set that the value will be 5. Go in and set a new conditional format highlighting E and F Columns. Under Format cells if select Custom Formula. Enter in: =AND($E2=5, $F2=5) and select your color. Now if you check both E and F, they should change to Green for you. Hope that helped. Beth

      @@OfficeTechEDU thanks yup it worked, now im trying to find a way to check a box and have the link in a cell open with a download program. For example the link is in column A checkbox is in column B if I check the checkbox have the link open in download manager to download the link selected

    • @dustonmeyer3770
      @dustonmeyer3770 3 года назад

      Here is a better example. column A has this link ruclips.net/video/IKZSOnZIRes/видео.html "it is a link to your video for the example" column B has the name Checkboxes with Multiple Conditional Formatting "the name of your video that the link is to" and column C has the check box. What I want to do is make it so if i click the checkbox in column C it opens the link in download manager and when it comes up to save it is the video name in column B automatically so when you click save it saves the title "Checkboxes with Multiple Conditional Formatting" not link number "IKZSOnZIRes". I have 1000's of links and dont want to have to rename everyone one 1 at a time

      @@dustonmeyer3770 Unfortunately, you can't add a custom formula to a checkbox.I know you can formulate that =If(B2=5, Hyperlink("youtube.com"),"") Or if it's for direct websites, you could have the name in the column so the URL auto generates =IF(B2=5,(C3&".com"),"") . but it'll only display it for your users when they click and only show the links they want. To auto-open a link I think what you're looking for is coding or script and that is beyond my scope at the moment. Wish I could be of more help. Sorry.

    Hi, do you know if you can insert text into the same cell as the check box? I'm wanting to create a calendar within Google Sheets wherein I can create events with checkboxes directly to the left hand side of them, similar to how Google Calendar used to be before they introduced their newer tasks. Cheers and thank you for the video

    • @OfficeTechEDU
      @OfficeTechEDU 3 года назад

      Not that I've been able to find. You can resize your column to be to the left of the box, that might work. I know now you can insert the checkbox and go into data validation and select use custom cell values and then you change the words for checked and unchecked. Example, checked could be Event. Unchecked, Not an Event. You could also formulate it that =if(A2=TRUE,"Event","Not an Event") Sorry if that wasn't the answer you were specifically seeking.

      @@OfficeTechEDU Thank you for the speedy reply - i’ll go ahead and test out those functions but yes what I ended up doing is resizing the column so that it’s not much larger than the size of the box while keeping it centered. Also added time and merged cells looks pretty good. But again will test out those functions thanks again!

    This doesn't work. My google shows a date 12/31/1899 for whatever reason when I ask it to just count checked checkboxes in a column. I triple checked the syntax. I looked at Google's own manual on COUNTIF. Google Sheets has a long way to go before they get anywhere close to the power of Microsoft Excel. Hell, I dumped a Russian dictionary into Excel, then filtered to find 7-letter words that can be constructed of only Latin characters. It took 15 minutes. Trying to count checkboxes in a column has taken over an hour already. Too dumb to be useful, Google.
