Yes, for just saving money they aren’t worthwhile for everyone. Vintage lenses are great for those of us who occasionally enjoy the process of adjusting focus and aperture manually (as well as any “character” they may achieve of course). I like the nostalgia as well!

Hi! You need a computer with the update downloaded onto it from Tamron. With a full battery in your camera, connect it to your computer via USB, and launch the updater. It will find your lens, but make certain you follow the provided instructions. The most important thing is that the USB connection is uninterrupted during the update.

Hi! The choice is clear if you have a full-frame camera, then you would want the Sony (if choosing between the two). If your camera has an APS-C sensor, I recommend the Sigma. It's light gathering ability is better (with the F1.4 max aperture), and it makes up for some background blur lost when shooting with a smaller APS-C sensor. The price of the Sigma is also far more attractive.

Hey Brian! They probably could of did something cool here, but maybe next time (I don’t think they’re sending anything next time lol). At ProFusion they did have a phone lens that actually blew me away. It was one of those probe lenses. It wasn’t expensive, which makes more sense for people that wouldn’t be using one all the time. I’d need a bigger phone for that too though🤷🏻‍♂️. Maybe I eat it and start carrying a big phone again lol. Thanks for dropping in, as usual!

Hey Brian! It's a nice one, but I wish it had that lock on it. It's been with me on our last couple of big trips. I had the Sony G version years ago when we went to Costa Rica, and I was ready to throw it into the ocean after the first few days (double the weight of the Tamron, murder on my neck)!

Haha! Thanks for the kind words there😊! The deadcat is just the little furry thing that goes over the mic, but I cheated and used AI voice isolation in my video editor (Da Vinci Resolve). The mic is the Hollyland Lark M2, and it also has it's own built in noise reduction l, but I don't really use it👀.

Hey Brian! Well, your shorts are so nicely done ("crafted" is the word!), and I just throw up a camera haphazard lol. If B&H hadn't emailed me about the firmware, I would of assumed there weren't even going to be any updates. It was spooky that just after I checked for updates on it, they finally came out with one. It's been three years with no updates! I'm off to shoot my first job today with the somewhat new 10-18mm Sigma (APS-C) that came out with... exciting! I haven't bought a new lens in awhile.

@@chosenideahandle I was actually thinking, I need to do what you do, which is set up a camera with an idea in hand, specifically to shoot a short. I still just chop up my longform to repurpose... But I think yours just looks better as well as feeling more targeted. I usually only hear about firmware updates from Instagram (via the lens manufacturer), so I hardly ever catch them. @@chosenideahandle mistakes seem to be the consistent factor in all my videos too... It's just a matter of how many! I actually flew back from London and Lisbon already, did 3 weeks at end of Aug. but had to get back to get my son back into school or else I would be looking for a permanent home in Portugal!
