I am assuming this channel is all AI generated as some of it is wrong. x86 CPUs didn't have a NPU until Intel Ultra 100 and AMD 8000 both are not out yet for desktop and both came out in 2024. Qualcomm's only chip with a NPU are the Snapdragon Elite X and Snapdragon Elite X+ again came out in 2023. So not years but year the before chips ran this on the CPU cores for qualcomm and the GPU cores for Intel and AMD. TOPS is Tensor Operations per Second. So nVidia and Google cards were the only way until qualcomm came with their NPU and soon with Intel and AMD with their versions of it. I do agree counting the number of Tensor Operations a chip can do isn't that meaningful as it is alike to counting GPUs in Trillions of Floating Point Operations per second. It is useful but it isn't the full picture as the rest of the system also matters. The problem with the ChatGPT-4o and OpenGPT-4o is that they still work like LLM AIs not data retrieval systems. So want to RP with your original character? It is great but want reliable information or code that will do what you said or a building plan that will make sense then the data retrieval model is better. Yes data retrieval will require the human to read and understand what they are reading to get to the correct result but it will also be correct if the sources it i given to pull from are correct. Copilot is just Microsoft Phi 3 mini but it seems it is recoded to run on the NPU instead of the GPU. Yes it has to be recoded to run on a Tensor processor instead of a general propose graphics processor unit. The recall AI is also a feature i will turn off. It is just to big of a security risk taking screen shots every 5 seconds and the 25GB to 100GB of storage it reserves for itself to store said screenshots. It is good in marketing as all examples are of general web browsing, word processing, and drawing. In reality people also do accounting, banking, filling their taxes, and other stuff they will not want a 3rd party to know. Yes Microsoft claims it all is local but Apple claimed the same. The part Apple was telling the truth just still had your phone keep 2 copies of everything you ever copied and/or sent to anyone ever on the phone is not the point. Microsoft is also known to be pushy about getting people to use their cloud storage which will be said sensitive data into the very insecure cloud that has at least 1 data leak per year. The problem with them using stable diffusion is SD3 is having the CSAM problem that SD1 had. SD1.5 got rid of it SDXL beta until 0.9 had it too. SDXL 1.0 doesn't. So here is to hoping they are using a fine tuned model of SD2 and/or a model we can just replace with 1 we want it to use. It is just a file so it should be replaceable. If Microsoft puts it in and it has the already solved in SD1.4 through SD2.0 CSAM problem it will make Microsoft look bad and will open them up to law suits. The reason why SD3 is still not available to the public other than through an API is to keep the filters in place until the problem is fixed. If it is like SD1 it will be on SD3.4 before allowed to go out to the public for random people to take finetune and merge models together. The reason why is there are things that the research and devlopment organization that hosts runs and improves the txt2im and img2img AI of Stable Diffusion does not want to have their model able to do. With how flawed co-pilot is and how it doesn't show you how it gets to the information but tells you it i do not think it will be that used in anything besides a ChatGPT replacement. As everything both LLMs spew out the AI also includes that it might be wrong i do not think it will be a good human replacement. 1 part i never hear in these videos is how does the NPU at 40 TOPS compare to lets say the RTX 4070 using the ONNX framework? The reason why i say "ONNX" is that is what the 2 AIs i know of are coded in before trying to go to a NPU based version. So as ONNX runs on your GPU as long as it is AMD, nVidia or Intel anyways but the NPU uses Tensor programming having a program to compare that has a version in both would be useful. For AI PC taking over i think that will happen not because the consumer wants it but because it will be the only thing sold. In the 1990s you could make calls from your PC with the first few laptops you had the same ability. The cited reason why it is no longer a thing is it wasn't used enough to keep on supporting. Still with some tablets you still have wi-fi calling in their custom OS so enough people used their tablet as a phone for phone companies to keep it or just that phones got physically big enough that they were almost the same size as tablets before they started getting smaller again.
