1937 Packard Twelve Model 1506 5-Passenger Touring Sedan
Very nice old fella. We “Mature” guys have a healthy appetite for classy automotive masterpieces but only a few are fortunate enough to own one this rare.
My grandmother had a 1937 Packhard 4 door with sidemounts 1 or 2, l can't remember, but it was large enough to wheel a perambulator behind the front seats, and many of us were rocked to sleep while Gran drove through the streets of Johannesburg. The straight had sufficient torque for her never to have used 1st or 2nd gear.
My uncle has one in this exact spec
The red dice? Really?
Real gangster's car! Beautiful piece of motoring history
Real gangsters would have had Lincolns or Cadillacs. Packards were for 'old money' and business elites.
Absolument splendide ! Quelle classe !
Great idle sound :) The best, signature, soundtrack :) You could've opened the hood, for engine view? :(
Putting the music at 7:00 ruined it. People want to hear the natural sound while its being driven.
This is the same model used in Godfather I for Paulie's death car.
What a beautifully designed car!
salute made in England 👮👮🇬🇧🇬🇧🚗🚗
Engine photos? Is this still available. I see it is a no AC car. Does it have any options PS, PB, ????
An honest car. So much better than cars today.
An honest car. So much better than the crap they sell today.
Totally agree with you. Kinds Regards.
Needs a better muffler. To loud for luxury. QUIET!!!!
The exhaust is actually pretty quiet in real life, the microphone amplified it in the video.
I have One,that 460 under the hood moves it Effortlessly, car flies
Ditch the music so we can hear the car.
👍👍👍👍👍.
EXHAUST IS WAY TO LOUD FOR A 41 PACKARD, SHOULD BE WHISPER QUIET ! VERY NICE CAR HOWEVER !
Good video. Next time, show us the engine and trunk. Thank you.
goofy ahh car 😭🙏
If I was in Packard Advertising, I'd say- " Introducing The Packard 180.. Impeccable beauty with Poetry and Grace at each turn."
F music is not necessary at all.
It's a shame Packard's post- war styling was allowed to veer so far off- course. This '41 is gorgeous and the equal of any Cadillac of the same period. Once Packsrds started resembling overturned bath tubs, the end came fairly quickly.
That Cadillac has presence. Really, really annoying music.
The red does nothing for me, some will love it,
Barca
I was born at the wrong time (1949). I feel that I was a generation and a half too late to be able to enjoy all the fine cars that were available, and which I could easily afford. My mother's very first car was a 1941 Packard designed by Howard "Dutch" Darrin. This was the first year of the streamlined Packards. My mother's car had the 356 CID 180 HP straight 8 engine, the most powerful 8 cylinder engine from any manufacturer at that time, and synchromesh 3 speed ("on the tree") manual overdrive transmission. This Packard was fully equipped with all the options available. She climbed Mt. Washington and drove to Washington D. C. (before the National Highway System was started in 1956) in this car, prior to and during World War II. Because of her job, she had a level C gasoline Ration Card and could get an unlimited amount of gasoline.
You are correct. This one of the finest Packards produced. The Darrin like you Mom's is beautiful as well.
Trailer it down to Athens GA. A Bulldog fan would pay handsomely for it.
The "Cannoli" car in The Godfather was a Le Baron.
😍😍🤯🤯🤯🤯❤️❤️❤️❤️ beautiful, just beautiful 🤯
I was born 40 years too late!! If I were a wealthy man I would have a building full of these amazing automobiles!! Cars today all look like cookie cutters with very little beauty and artistic form!! Stunningly beautiful!!
this company was America's version of Rolls-Royce, if fact Rolls-Royce of GB was so impressed with the Packard company they handed over the plans of the V12 Merin fighter plane engine so it could be built in the Packard Plant during WW2 and the engineers at Packard improved the design and build quality of the legendry V12 Fighter plane engine.
That rumbling inline eight and the mechanical sounds are all the soundtrack this video needs!
This car is for sale for a cool $750k, and the listing shows it has only 99 miles, Not 99k, 99. Very unusual for a 1935 car.
99 miles since restoration. It's not unusual for the odometer to be reset when a car is fully restored.
Beautiful car, great color combination and contrast with the shiny chrome. They did not have curved windshields back then, so the only thing I'd change in the design is to make it "V-shaped" like in your Packard 180, which, with the right woods on the dash, would add a nautical flavor to it. You drive this car on an early Sunday morning on empty streets (No god damned suvs in sight!) , you time travel to 1935.
I checked this car on their website and it is on sale for less than $100k ($98.5k). Depending on its mechanical and underbody condition and issues, it seems very reasonably priced for such an excellent interior and good exterior.
Thanks for your comments. See the car on our website:vintagemotorcarsusa.com for more photos and details...Truly a wonderful classic
@@vintagemotorcarsusa701 As you can see above, I had already visited the site and got the price info. But one cannot shop cars on the Web. One needs to test drive them and check their mechanicals. Where is this vehicle located exactly?
Outstanding car! Excellent combination of colors inside and out, the wood matches the blues and the grays, and the dash has no accursed plastics, just wood and metal.
Art. Stunning.
Just again PROVES: The absolute QUALITY of this and previous era's of American engineering and style, if cherished, can literally LAST FOREVER. My '36 Olds with dual side mounts never ceases to AMAZE. This is exactly where I want to be - finances permitting. What GRACE and NONE of the GADGETS we erroneously feel we NEED and certainly DON'T.
Beautiful and the engine sound is music!
NO American car has surpassed THIS vehicle in styling, quality, elegance, refinement and performance, which ended with the 1947 Custom Super Clipper. The overdrive is available in 2nd and 3rd, making the transmission a 5-speed. THIS is the car Rolls-Royce aspired to build.
What a sexy looking car! Looks almost like a Rolls Royce. My late dad loved Packards and drove them❤😊
No Rolls Royce was rubbish British borrowed the suspension engine from Packard.
@TS-mk7cu Wow, I didn't know that. Those uppity British, shame on them.
Proper Rolls Royce.
That color looks sharper than it looks
Beautiful car. I love how the cars built by the original Rolls-Royce company have superb quality without being ostentatious. Something that BMW has forgotten with the modern range of excessively vulgar cars. Rolls-Royce was famous for refusing to build anything that they thought wasn't Rolls-Royce style. Now, anything goes, the more vulgar and bad taste the better it seems. As the second owner of a 1965 Silver Cloud III I wouldn't touch the modern cars. Rolls-Royce have forgotten about their traditional clients.
You mean you saw the video of the RR Dawn with the two-tone pink interior? I personally thought it was beautiful, for a pink grapefruit.
@davesmith5656 There are any number of hideous cars. It's difficult to narrow it down to one 😕
Fully agree that modern BMW RR are ugly as hell. Worth pointing out, as I am sure you know, that Rolls-Royce did not build any of their own bodies before WW2. That this car is beautiful is due to the era it was built (the 1930s being the best era for cars), the skill of the coachbuilder, and of course the magnificent proportions of the PII chassis.
@stephaneaderca7948 No of course. I'm probably biased against the modern cars by owning one of the proper ones.
Hello how are you doing? I love your Lincoln continental ❣️💙🍷🌈 love to own this Lincoln are you saleing this Lincoln?
Awesome cars... always wanted one!! Alas, red is not the best colour. This one looks tight!!
Tough act to follow
Wonderful!
