The history of Contessa Yachts and Jeremy Rogers
Просмотров 9 тыс.5 лет назад
Jeremy Rogers built model boats as a child, dinghies as a boy and by the 1970s was one of world's most respected boat builders and yachtsmen. At the heart of his vision was the desire to build beautiful boats that sailed well. The proof of the integrity of this vision lives on today in the Contessas sailed and loved by their owners the world over. RMP filmmakers tell the story.

C’est marvilious! BZ.
How long do you find Silic One lasts?
Amazing yachts! We have delivered many... The owner of Confusion, a beautiful Contessa 32, takes us through the highs and lows of his AZAB campaign: ruclips.net/video/Wp9_MuJ4H5s/видео.htmlsi=gyti7jBBEkmqVx8h
This interview is pure gold. I laughed about the water tanks. I sure don't use my built in water tanks!
What's the base cost of such a boat?
I was loving this boat before.... But holy sense of direction am I smitten now.
Este é um barco que agrada muito, mesmo sendo pequeno é muito valente em mar aberto, só lamento não poder comprar um e registra-lo no Brasil, aqui as leis são muito diferentes a importação..Belo vídeo!
Thanks for sharing, great trip
Beautiful video, nice sailing and good music!
I want a Contessa 32 so bad such a seaworthy vessel very wet in hi seas
7:27 I can say with total certainty, that's in Newfoundland. Really enjoying this video.
Absolutely beautiful interview about sailing high Latitudes. Sailing ⛵️ the most beautiful education. Greetings from beautiful tropical Hawaii islands ⛵️ 🏝 About 40 living in paradise island 🏝 Kauai, one of the most peaceful places on the planet .Thanks for sharing video I m watching already second time this video. So beautiful to listen interview.
Would love to see a longer documentary which includes more history and pictures along with special ones they built
Sterling stuff, ruddy inspiring for fellow adventurers😆 We need our children to follow in this delightful adventurer's footsteps, it will strengthen their hearts and minds 😆
He did not have GPS or IAS
How long it took you to get there ?
This guy is amazing!
Another british touting discovery even mastery of lands already explored and known buy our Indigenous Peoples for thousands of years. The river's name Kuukpak. You may be able to BS yourselves but we are ashamed of you as fellow brit ex-pat. descendants now Canadian proud of our land and resourceful and welcoming First People. So much for the boat.
They didnt claim discovery nor mastery of anything...and, no natives didnt solo any long trips nor were they capable of long solo trips like his. They had open boats and traveled in groups so yeah, he did accomplish something the natives hadn't
"...but we are ashamed of you..." Oh, kiss my ass, you ass.
How did you avoid icebergs at night when sleeping? do you just pray you don't hit one?
I would love to sail a 32. My dream boat!
I love Contessas and have sailed many a mile in them. A fine pedigree in racing and seaworthiness. My only gripe is the total lack of imagination on the interior. They are all the same across every yacht size with only the dimensions changing.
My dream boat is a 32.
Contessa 32 is one sexy sailboat.
Lovely video, beautiful boat and beautiful scenery. Greetings from the garden island of Kauai
I think I saw this guy (and this boat) in another sailing video, of people who get to Greenland and this dude is there. They tour his boat during the "episode"
Yes that's on one of Drake Paragon's videos while he still in Greenland. Believe the video is called something to do with Contessa 26.
Yes, I seen him also ! You are correct. They were amazed with his boat, and it's simplicity
👍
Saw your boat tour on Drake paragon. nice boat.
Exactly!
Awesome
Lovely man. (And boat) Met him in Horta, in the early 90's.
Great video, annoying background music but some fab video of beautiful yachts.

How come canuks all have contessas?
Because JJ Taylor built them in Toronto, they're very well made, and they had a very long production run with close to 400 boats made. So, that adds up to a lot of good quality used boats on the market in Canada.
I like this vid very much...thank you
Love this video. ⛵
Very nice feeling and just charming. Thank you for that.
Now that's proper sailing! Here's a guy soloing around the world in a 26 that's worth subscribing to: ruclips.net/video/9C5NdhpXlWg/видео.html Nice simple straight up videos, not all T&A clickbait.
Not clipped on a safety harness...not good judgement.
Looked like he was most of the time. Otherwise, nice pictures, deft sailing, but prefer a little commentary on the trip, conditions, destination, etc.
@@richardernsberger5692 Yes, caught that in the subsequent video. When in USAF in 1963 went sailing down the Kangerlussuaq Fjord bumping small bergs...wind blowing snot out of your nose. Tough sailing anywhere in Greenland. Yes, the skipper ought to shared his experience. Thx for the note.
Great song , many thanks ! Contessa one of the most greatest boat for sailing around the world. I am looking to get Contessa now
Have one here in Newfoundland for sale....
@@gregbutler6622 Is your ad online? Why are you selling?
Had the boat for just over a year and a 32 came up for sale locally. Currently the proud owner of two contessas and a somewhat annoyed wife! Trust me, a contessa collection is nice but I can only sail one...
Rimas!
Rimas???
For a small boat, it moves really well upwind.
I wonder what he did with the kayak when sailing upwind--it disappears.
Them albatrosses are always swooping down and nicking canoes off people's decks😆
Do have a heating system.. Does it work good... If so what's it called
This boat had a solid fuel burner but most often we put diesel heaters like Eberspacher in the Contessas
Ive been watching Erick Aanderaa’s RUclips channel he has a 76 Contessa 35, it’s very inspiring and a great testament to your yacht building. I highly recommend watching if you haven’t already. He’s on an epic trip next year, I’m sure he would appreciate your help if you’re able too. ruclips.net/user/kjolevannspumpe
omg get a jackstay.. i had to look away..
I think you mean a jackline. And he was clipping on the lifelines instead of a jackline when needed.

Very interesting listening. I am hoping to be headed to Greenland next year in my Rival 32 and always love learning from those unsung heroes who have been there. Thanks for sharing. Andy UK
Cool!😃👍🏻❤
🙏
Gorgeous !
