    Maybe it's because I'm a Sachs' fanboi, but your praises of the Shimano surprise me. Nothing to say about the quality (of the 80s Shimano eh!), but the Sachs' simplicity is still a winner for my taste. Winner for sure over the Positron, just because of that bloody solid cable:-)) Thank you so much for the very interesting video AND for the service you offer to the Community of crazy people we are part of:-)

    Hi, My name is Bob and I am 81 years. When I was 8 years old I changed the sprocket on my coaster brake and I have been building and riding vintage bikes ever since. About 15 years ago I found a rusty Mifa with a like like new Renak and beautiful chrome. I restored it and it is a wonderful riding bike. Many friends think it is my most interesting bike. Yet. I couldn't find information about it. I knew the bike was from East Germany and that's all. I love the crank and I had to modify a gear puller to repack the bearings. So, it's no wonder I love your videos. I also collect coaster brakes. I often find them missing parts and I restore them. I have a super Granat and I didn't know where it was from. I Know my Favorit and Velosteel were from Czechoslovakia but that's all. I loved your history of torpedo and clones. I have never seen a vintage Torpedo coaster brake here in Arizona only clones. In my youth I only saw English Perries and Resilions. Later a lot of Schwinn approved clones made in Germany. There were other clones unbranded or like the Excel Mark IV from who knows where. I also have a like new Durex bicycle coaster brake that I know nothing about. I love the German engineering. I love the way the three speed torpedo shifts. So, I didn't know about the two speed torpedo until I saw your video. I ordered one and it will be my next bicycle build. Thank you Cheers, from a fellow bicycle lover, Bob. I

The next video is about the Universal 3 speed with a drumbrake. This kind of hub was build arround 1940, and the most of this hubs was sold to Netherlands an Belgium. In Germany it was not easy to find one. A friend from Hungary has bought one in Netherlands fro me and if I visited him in his town Szeged, it was a present for me. Dann soll man Vaseline nehmen?

    • @don-torpedo
      @don-torpedo 3 месяца назад

      Hallo, der Öler kann genutzt werden um Öl als Service einzubringen. Das ersetzt keine Wartung, sprich Fett erneuern und ölen. Das vermischt sich wieder, deshalb macht es Sinn die Nabe wieder zu warten, wie bei einem Auto in regelm. Abständen. Bremsmantelfett ist für Stahlbremsmäntel, Vaseline ist für Messing-Bremsmäntel. Getriebeöl kannst nehmen, ich würde harzfreies Fahrradöl nehmen. Auf meinem Kanal gibt es ein Video, wie ich eine Torpedo 1gang überhole. Das ist hilfreich zu schauen. Dear Jens, I hope you are well. I want to thank you very much for the videos you have uploaded to RUclips, they are some of the best about the Sachs brand. They are helping me a lot to restore a bicycle that I was able to buy in Argentina (a Dahon 3). And about this I would like to ask you if you could please help me resolve some doubts. The first thing I can't identify is the year of manufacture of the bicycle, nor the year of the torpedo model since it doesn't say it anywhere. It only has a number 28 on the rear hub, but with that I couldn't tell what year it is. The second question is that I don't know what model of the sachs torpedo system the bike comes with since it doesn't say it anywhere, it is very similar to the Torpedo Model 415 without brake, but when I opened it, it is not the same as the 415. So I don't know what model it is, to try to find some video with that exact model to be able to disassemble it, clean it, reassemble it, grease it and oil it correctly. ACTUALLY I took it apart, cleaned it and all that, but I don't like how it turned out and I guess it was because I wasn't able to see a video of the EXACT model that I have and I just did what I could. I am attaching some photos in the email so that you can please help me if possible to identify the year of manufacture of the bicycle, the year of manufacture of the torpedo and the exact model of the torpedo. I will be very grateful if you can give me some guidance. Have a nice week.

    is it easy to "shift"? And has it got a good "range", meaning that it has a real benefit over running that gearing without the Gearbox? I am considering to integrate a Duomatic into my old folding bicycle because it is really hard to go up inclines in the current state with only one gear. Do you think this would help?

    • @don-torpedo
      @don-torpedo 5 месяцев назад

      The second gear is a fast gear. Ratio 1:1.36 If you use a larger pinion at the back, you get a mountain gear in first gear. A new hub shifts a little bit harder if you kickback, a used hub shifts easy. Good luck for your folding bike with the Duomatic.
