I reached a point where I wanted to post a video every week. My channel isn’t about one topic, but just whatever I feel like doing that week. Unfortunately I was injured at work. Tore my shoulder up pretty bad and it required surgery. It took six months before I was able to return to work, still on light duty but I was able to do some things. My third day back at work I was returning from picking up some parts and was rear ended hard. My shoulder is torn again and I have new injuries. I won’t be able to post much for a while.
I’m making this channel to learn and share what I’ve learned. Everything I post is done to the best of my knowledge and may not be the right solution for you. Please don’t try to reproduce the projects if you do not understand 100%.

The only thing organized in my life are the drawers in my tool box. Not the top of the tool box, just the inside of the drawers. When working on projects at home I have the really small parts organized but not so much the other stuff. When I can't find anything I end up buying more and then finding them later. I'm glad I finally wanted to do something about it and got more organized.

Do you know where the control box one is for the large slideout that has dinnet an recliner.
@@mr46ford1 if it’s a Jayco they usually put them by the power center. Other brands put them in a compartment under the slide out. When all else fails I trace the wiring to the board.
Thanks!
Can I use this t-stat to replace the newer touch screen stat?
@@bullboss7698 I’m not sure which touch screen you are referring to. I do know that with Dometic the t stat has to match the circuit board.
Great job, Thanks Don

Great Information - Thank you for sharing!
That Sperry, along with APC surge arresters that have a similar bad-ground detection circuit, was probably wrong because their bad ground detection circuits don’t match the values set forth in the National Electrical Code. I missed my chance to set up a Red Cross Disaster Services Technology team headquarters in the former office of Eddie DeBartolo Jr.’s office at the 49’rs training base in Redwood City, CA, because I trusted the “bad ground” red light on an APC power strip instead of asking for a multimeter, a hundred feet of copper wire, and a big-ass alligator clip. This was an epic fail because DeBartolo’s office had a full wet bar, a bathroom, a window onto the field, and only one door for people to enter the office.
Looking Great. Job well done. Being a more experienced carpenter and wood craftsman I wood have done a few things different. But all together a fine cabinet make would say it is a great job.
great explanation on using the multimeter for finding to correct polarity. Don
According to Sperry support bad ground is > 10 Ohms
Hope your surgery goes perfect! Drawers and shelves were among the greatest early inventions. I was going to get the Milwaukee pack out boxes and just before I did they came out with the ones with drawers and I love them.
Great video!!! Thanks for sharing.
So great to see a new video!
for this to work do you need a relay with two 87's or with one 87 and one 87a. I tried it with a 5 prong that has two 87's and it is a dead short
Huh? It works perfectly… ruclips.net/video/JL4b2xnx9CU/видео.htmlsi=o06z_rv3-vgqpxJg
Mine is white. It has fan, cool, furnace LEDs only. Plus and minus buttons. On/off mode. Fan runs constantly with a/c. Furnace exhaust outside blows hot air. Inside not hot. Doing something wrong on furnace?
Watch starting at :26 seconds. I explain why the AC fan is coming on while the furnace is running. Turn fan mode to auto to stop the AC fan. If the AC fan is running while the furnace is on warm/hot air does not come out of the AC ducts. It just pushing air around the coach. The furnace air only comes from the furnace ducts which are usually in the floor or down low. I recommend that users only set the fan to auto so they don’t get confused.
Hi Mik Master I am working on wiring in a motor into my car in the exact same way you have. The motor controls a small valve which opens and closes my exhaust. I purchased a genuine switch that fits in my car perfectly. It is a momentary switch which rocks upwards and downwards and then returns to centre. However it only has 2 connectors and not three connectors how you have demonstrated. Is there any way at all to make this work? (I apologise if this is a silly question, I am a novice when it comes to these things. Just doing projects to learn). Thanks
I never assume how a switch works. Most of them work how I expect but I always check them with a meter. Do you know the actual details of the switch? In this video you need to be able to apply power to one of the relays at a time. I’m not sure off the top of my head how you could do it with only one output signal from a switch…
@@mikmaster63 I'd love to tell you about my issue in more detail, with images included. Is there anyway that I could reach out to you? through and email or social media profile perhaps?

You just answered my prayers on wiring an extractor/blower fan in the bed of a pickup!
Hi Mik, hope the shoulder is doing better your videos are great.
This is amazing great work. Do you have a parts list for every thing you needed? Was about to build a ranger box but i might just build your box. I was going to use a Milwaukee m12 battery as the power source. Would that be enough power for the slide outs?
The parts video has the parts I used. The next video coming out on Sunday is a video where I bench test some tool batteries. I did not test them on slide outs. It would probably work on in wall or small draw slide outs. Personally I would not use tool batteries for that purpose, there are other options that I use.
Exactly! the damn modes,... easy on/off if the people making these things actually used them for one day,... they'd know,... on... bright and off all anyone needs
I’m using Milwaukee now. It works well except battery time is short and it’s thicker than the band types. I just bought 2 to deal with the short time. Been using them for months…
hi there! is that mean the heavy load does not pass through the switch, but only through the relays?
Yes
@@mikmaster63 Thank you. I have this problem with my kayak's trolling motor that uses 6-pin rocker switch for doing reverse polarity on-off-on. The problem is that this switch is rated 30 amps, but eventually it fails (melts) every few months in the middle of the sea. the motor is "only" 12v DC 20A (max). No matter how many different switches brands I have tried, they all fail eventually. some on the handle, some melts from the inside, nothing lasts. Also, there aren't many high AMPS 6 pin switches. they all range 20-30 amps and they all fail. I think this solution will solve the problem. Thank you!
It’s sounds to me that there is another issue. Most of the relays I use are rated at 30 amps also. Check what amp draw the motor is actually drawing. It could be loose connections or a bad motor. Also, try a marine type switch (something water proof) maybe the moisture is corroding the switch…
@@mikmaster63 When its 95 degrees Fahrenheit outside with intense usage of few hours twice a week, the plastic parts of those switches get distorted. It happens every 5 months in average. Tried some metal switches they also falied with some plastic pin inside. With a relay THERE IS NO PLASTIC INSIDE. The switching is done with metals alone.
Sounds like you got it figured out 😀

Can you change out the switch with the light with a momentary door bell switch so that you push and hold down for two seconds and release then the motor will move the magnet from the bottom switch up to the top switch and make the motor instantly reverse making the magnet move back down to the bottom switch and shut off. The set up you have in this video is almost what I need only difference is the motor would stop when the magnet gets back to the bottom switch and it's activated by a door bell switch. Thank you very much for posting your videos they have taught me a lot. Your channel name makes me think of Mc Master Carr where they have everything electrical mechanical. Can I use a typical volt multimeter?
Not sure what a typical volt meter is, but I think any meter that can read AC voltage should work. I typically use fluke meters and don’t have very much experience with other brands. Hope that helps.
thank you, I have a momentary rotary switch thats two independent NO switches underneath. I had expected it be similar to a rocker switch but it doesn't work that way. Seems like I can use two relays to reverse a DC motor with this method. appreciate the video
