i've started watching football a lot recently (I'm from Europe) so I don't entirely understand the play at the end. Why on earth didnt the QB just take the ball, kneel and run down the clock? Are you not allowed to kneel in the endzone, does this give up points or what?
@@u.sgrant7526 That is called a safety, being down in your own end zone. It is two points for the opposing team. The better option would be a quarterback sneak forward, where he does not have to hand off and risk the fumbled exchange which happened.
However, after the safety there is a free kick-no rush and they can kick it clear of their end zone…and on a night when there was little scoring it probably locks it up. Either way it’s a better option than the handoff.
When I played high school football we got pre-game pep talks like that, this got me fired up
