This is using the most recent firmware dated 3/30/24. Enjoy!
Dr Sbaitso Sings MMM MMM MMM MMM by The Crash Test Dummies
Просмотров 1402 года назад
In the early nineties with limited entertainment opportunities I spent countless hours messing around with whatever games or software I had access to. A favorite way to pass time became using the packaged-in software that came with my STATE OF THE ART Soundblaster card, specifically Dr. Sbaitso. His AI was questionable, and his pronunciation was equally bad, but by using the "say" command I cou...
Arcade Button Wiring Tutorial
Просмотров 1372 года назад
This is a short video where I show how to assemble and wire arcade buttons for use with either a raspberry pi or PC. My setup is an arcade cabinet that is using a raspberry pi to emulate arcade games with the buttons connected via USB 'Zero Delay' encoders. I use 2 encoders, one that controls the button presses for player 1, and one that controls the button presses for player 2. Building a MAME...

RetroFlag PiStation Case First Impressions
Просмотров 4812 года назад
This short video covers my first impressions on the brand new RetroFlag PiStation Case for the Raspberry Pi 4. Retroflag has designed it to look like an original Playstation console and I will be reviewing what I like and what could have been improved. Feel free to comment on your thoughts! Thank you for watching RetroGame Purity!
So fan goes label side towards the board clearly?
It has been a LONG time since I posted this tutorial, so honestly, I don't remember. Ideally, you want to cool air from outside blowing directly onto the CPU. The nature of these SBC boards is such that you don't need active cooling unless you are overclocking, but if you bought this case, chances are you are planning on gaming on it!
🎉❤
Thank you!
Have you been able to get the safe shutdown script working? I tried just using the same one they provided for the older cases but the Pi seems to go into a constant loop of rebooting whenever the button is pushed, and only sticks to staying on when the button is pushed again.
Yes, I have the script working. First, make sure the "safe shutdown" switch inside the PiStation case is set to "ON". Then, boot up to emulationstation and Hit F4 on your keyboard to get to the command prompt. Next, run this code: wget -O - "raw.githubusercontent.com/RetroFlag/retroflag-picase/master/install.sh" | sudo bash This should install the proper script to enable safe shutdown. Of note: When the safe shutdown switch is set to ON, but before the script is installed, the red power LED on the case will not light up. After you install the script, the LED behavior is as follows: Upon hitting the power button, the pi will turn on and about 3-4 seconds after text appears on the screen the red LED light will turn on. Once emulationstation is loaded up, upon hinting the button a second time, the pi will exit to the text screen and the red light will begin to blink until the unit powers down. Then the LED will be off. I do not know how the unit behaves with the safe shutdown switch set to "OFF" because I didn't test that. I hope this helps. Thank you for watching RetroGame Purity!
@@retrogamepurity6239 Very helpful! Good to know that it works fine for RetroPie, however I was doing it on Batocera, so maybe the operating system here is to blame. I'll look into it to see if I can fix the issue myself, it might just be as simple as Batocera not sending through the right signal. Thanks for the help!
I have never used Batocera, but they have published a separate script for that OS. Try this: Example for batocera: Make sure internet connected. Make sure keyboard connected. Enter terminal. How to enter terminal: wiki.batocera.org/access_the_batocera_via_ssh User: root Password: linux In the terminal, type the one-line command below(Case sensitive): wget -O - "raw.githubusercontent.com/RetroFlag/retroflag-picase/master/batocera_install.sh" | bash From this web page: github.com/RetroFlag/retroflag-picase
@@retrogamepurity6239 That's what I did, hence the "I tried just using the same one they provided for the older cases but the Pi seems to go into a constant loop of rebooting whenever the button is pushed." With your information, this makes me think this is just a bug specific to Batocera (unless I just got an unfortunate faulty case?)
If you have a spare microSD card try flashing retropie and installing the script. If the case behaves properly then it is a problem specific to Batocera. If it still doesn't work using retropie and that script then it would be a hardware issue.
Excellent video comparing which makes the better replica!
Hi, Does the raspberry pi 3b+ work on this?
No, this case is only compatible with the Raspberry Pi 4. If you are looking for a retro case for the raspberry pi 3b+ you may want to check out the SuperPi case. It is made to look like a Super Nintendo console. It also has access to 4 USB ports and features a safe shutdown switch. There is also the MegaPi case made to look like a Sega Genesis that looks good, but I have not used one myself.
@@retrogamepurity6239 So if I mod the case to fit the pi 3b+, it won’t work?
I am not talented at modding cases and such, so I wouldn't try it. I would say either use a superpi case for the raspberry pi 3 if you already have the pi3 set up or save up and get a raspberry pi 4 to use in the PiStation case.
