Hi there! Welcome to my channel. I’m Jon. Originally from the UK, I'm situated on Shikoku Island in Japan and spend most of my free time exploring the nature here by hiking, cycling and finding places off the beaten track. I occasionally set foot off the island - The Japanese Alps, Kyushu and the Chugoku region too. There is so much beauty here so I hope you'll enjoy coming along with me (and friends) on the journey!
Akaboshi mountain - winter hike | 愛媛県 | 赤星山 (4K)
In this video I take you on a winter hike up Akaboshi mountain (1453 metres / 4767 ft), which is located in Ehime Prefecture, Shikoku Island, just south of the Seto Inland Sea. It's quite a technical hike due to the deep snow drifts and icy bridges. If you come here in winter, please make sure to be well prepared with snow spikes and clothes suitable for temperatures down to -10 degrees Celsius.

Great video! I'm planning a trip to Shikoku next Spring and plan on doing lots of hikes. Your video was very inspirational :) Did you by any chance come across a campsite during the hike?
Thank you and thanks for watching! I'm glad it inspired you. Shikoku has so much to offer in terms of beautiful mountains and nature, so it's pretty much a hiker's paradise here :) There is a small campground at 一の森 (Ichi no mori), which is nearby the first mountain hut you saw in my video. I just added the Google Map link to the video description.
The bus fare of 500yen is the weekend fare, weekdays maybe 200 yen 😀

sorry that you hiked in not the perfect weather but actually i really enjoyed "hiking on screen” this time!(as always though!). many more mystic & beautiful sights than on a clear day in nature. all the way towards the top looks the goal this time. love the photo highlights at the ending too! happy to find some scenes i also found it was beautiful!
