Summer League, last night of sporting clays
This was the last night of Summer League sporting clays for the year. A sad occasion, but it was a beautiful night and good to get out with the guys. We are always racing the daylight at the end of the summer, so almost everything is true (simultaneous) pairs.
This was a very hard course for everyone (except Adam, sho CRUSHED it).
Adam was high gun with a 44. Next best was a 33 (several way tie)! That's a big margin! I was THRILLED to hit 30!
Then we had a sausages and beer, so call it a good night.
I am way behind on the videos, so I went newest first (LIFO) rather than try to catch up by doing the oldest ones first (FIFO). I will try to get a move on the rest of the videos now that we are...

I am a few weeks behind posting videos. I have been pretty much straight out between dog training for the VGP, and shooting, and working, so not much time for post production. This is kind of a long video, but it was a great group and fun day of shooting, so I included a lot of footage of us shooting and goofing on each other.

Shotkam video off our sporting clays summer league. Pak took the chicken from Kye this week. Pak has a great youtube channel, @fishscookseats he does a lot of kayak fishing videos, and has some great recipes. Hopefully one for rubber chicken. Check it out!

This was our second go at the rained-out course from Wednesday's summer league. There were a few changes because of where the sun was. This was a good course for me. I shot a 42, which was high gun. That was the first time I ever got high gun. Of course it happened on a day when Mark, Greg, Scott, Ty, Ron, and Ross didn't shoot. That was probably just a coincidence.... After I shot on #11, I no...

My friend Mark, took me to Minuteman Sportsman's Club in Burlington, MA for my first go at 5-stand. It was a great experience and a little humbling. If you haven't tried this, you should. It is great practice. The targets come at you fast though. Much quicker pace than the sporting Clays I am used to. It was also 95 degrees and humid. Pretty much all of the shots were against the blues sky, so ...

Sporting Clays summer league at Westford SPortsman's Club. Scott set up this course and said to expect some long shots. He wasn't kidding. Still working on sticking with the plan through 3 stations. I inevitably end up shooting sustained lead but the end, especially on the second bird of a true pair. This is just a lack of focus, and confidence. If I can break them shooting pull away/swing thro...

Summer league sporting clays at Westford Sportsmen's Club. Before we could shoot though, we had to unload a trailer truck full of clay pigeons. TONS of clay pigeons. Did I mention it was during the first heat wave of 2024? Sorry, I'm whining... My goal for today's shooting was to formulate a plan for each station, BEFORE I stepped into the box and to stick with that plan throughout the station,...

Saturday's Sporting clays course, at Westford Sportsman's Club. It was largely the same as Wednesday's summer league course with a couple tweaks. This was a HARD course, set up by Ross. I shot 29/50Sat, which was better than my 22/50 on Wednesday, but still pretty poor. Oh well it was fun, it was a beautiful day with no humidity or pollen, and we had a cameo from a hen turkey who walked up with...

I am falling behind with my posts, because I shoot twice per week, and I don't have time to do the editing which I am very new at. Nonetheless, this was a fun course set up by Ron. I have been killing the first pair, and then falling apart, which, to me, says that I am not sticking with a working plan. That is not a good policy. I need to work on that. Thanks for watching, and let me know what ...

Sporting Clays shotkam video from this week's summer league. I am a few shoots behind because I was working on the Turkey hunting video which is quite long. I will try to go back and post the last 2 shoots but I wanted to get this one up so anyone trying to see what the targets would be for Saturday could get a look. This was a tricky course set up by Adam. I was over-leading targets (and shoot...

Hello friends! Here is my latest "video." It is a full turkey hunt, from set up (shortly after day break) to kill, almost completely in real time. I edited out a few clunky camera moments as I am a rank amateur with the cameras and the editing software. There is VERY LITTLE turkey video here, so if that is what you are looking for, try something else. There is a TON of audio. The birds I was wo...

Here is the latest sporting clays video. It is the same course we shot on Wednesday's summer league, except this time, I am shooting Mark's Browning O/U. He loaned it to me because he said I was shooting well enough that I should get a real sporting gun. All my guns are hunting guns. I haven't shot an O/U since I was a kid. I had a cheap Marocinni (sp?) for a couple years, but couldn't hit ANYT...

Not a lot of post production in this one. I wanted to get it up before tomorrow's shoot so people could see Scott's 50!!! That's a perfect score. A rare Feat indeed. Also, it should be a similar course tomorrow, so I wanted folks (like all 9 of my subscribers. Hi mom.) to see the course. Enjoy, and congratulations Scott!

    You have pretty good technique. Your main issue is you’re not reading some types of targets properly. When you do watch these videos don’t pay too much attention to how far in front/behind you were on some targets. Make it easy to think about. The only material factors in determining lead are speed and angle. Wider angle - more lead, narrow angle - less, and same thing with speed. Distance isn’t nearly as big of a factor as people think. And make sure that browning fits you, best of luck and keep grinding

    • @jamesbarabe578
      @jamesbarabe578 4 месяца назад

      Thanks, Man. Easier said than done! I am trying very hard to do exactly that, but my brain is not always my friend. If I start thinking about lead while I am in the box, guaranteed miss. I am trying to formulate a plan before I step in, and to stick with it. I agree with what you say about speed and angle. I try to think about the target path in 2 dimensions, rather than 3 . Part of my problem is that I am still pretty new at this, so I don't have experience with all of the presentations yet. The Browning SEEMS to fit me. I have never been formally fitted, but it feels like It comes right up to where I want it to. Both beads stacked like a snowman (I don't see the gun when I shoot, just when I am practicing my mount). It was loaned to me by one of my shooting friends, who is about my size.

    Yeah too much recoil. It will definitely affect you. Need to lower that speed. I use AA 1180fps 1oz at tournaments and barely feel any recoil and break stuff out to 65 yrs.

    • @jamesbarabe578
      @jamesbarabe578 5 месяцев назад

      I forgot to put in the "data sheet" with this video, but I was shooting AA's with 1-1/8 oz. #8's at 1250fps, They were quite "kicky"

    • @Maybenxt_time
      @Maybenxt_time 5 месяцев назад

      @@jamesbarabe578 yeah I used to shoot the Fiocchi 1 1/8 1250 and they were kicking pretty good. So if the goal is that you don’t want the recoil of the first shot to affect the second shot maybe to a try low speed 1oz for your first barrel and then the kicky stuff for your second. I have tried that and it works well if you really want that extra speed and shot
