    Great quickie! Lmfao .....seriously though for a quick little set if your fiending for some flame not a bad route. Bolt washers chain without gaps or thick enough to not come apart. As long as all is nice and tight no problems. I feel like ur very aware at this point that they can be made to be more visually pleasing and much more functional. But u used what u had and safely made it work!! That’s what this community has always been about... safety ingenuity sharing and fun! I’ve been performing since 2008 and been dancing and involved with flow arts since 2002 ish. I spin poi rope dart single and double staff clubs and breathe fire now as my extent but I have played around with anything I could make or get my hands on. Every failure is still a success in knowledge accumulation lol I’ve been in and out of financial issues as long as I’ve known what money is haha so making your toys is always a plus. Plus who doesn’t like tinkering with Shit like this?!?! Pay no mind to the elitist fuck heads giving you Shit. In the comments. You seem much nicer then I am so I’ll be shitty for you lol They were born perfect and shit gold. We will never understand them or be of their kind ( atleast I hope we won’t) keep the flame burning and remember to always have fun!!!! One nomad to another! Flame on!

      @onenomadwoman 4 года назад

      I appreciate your kind words, and yes! They do work just fine. I also really love tinkering and creating things I enjoy while backpacking across this crazy planet. I love that part you wrote "Every failure is a success" it reminds me of Thomas Edison and how it took over 1000 attempts before he created the lightbulb :) Concerning those with other opinions, my motto is "Judge not lest thee be judged". Clearly some of the lessons they need have not been brought forth into their experience yet or? Just an observation... not a judgement. ;) Either way, I might never know, nor do I care to waste energy there :) Shit gold. That's funny though. Flame on kind soul!!

    Man I started making tutorials so stuff like this wouldn't happen. I stepped away from the community, thinking my teachings would live on. Boy was I wrong. Please educate yourselves and be safe out there. Just buy poi from the people who do it for a living rather than trying to save a buck.

    • @onenomadwoman
      @onenomadwoman 4 года назад

      @PeZoNeD3N Everyone is absolutely free to do as they choose! I have personally played with this particular set of poi well over 50 times and they still work just fine <3 I usually only play for about 15 minutes and then switch to the LED because the fire poi really is a workout! I taught myself how to make them when I was sailing on a catamaran and the only place to buy hardware was at a marina boat shop so... this is what I was able to create and share :) You are free to share a link here to something you like/prefer <3

    These are good for training. Lighter poi is better for training cause they're more difficult to control. Btw kevlar is too loose and I totally dislike the way is secured to the chain. I prefer much to sew tight the kevlar, using different kind of screws and washers to set it locked and secured to the chain.

    you need to shorten those if you want to do more with poi. Cant do many patterns if they that long. Rule of thumb is they should not touch the floor when you are holding them with your arms down by your sides.

    • @onenomadwoman
      @onenomadwoman 7 лет назад

      Thank you for the feedback. Yes, I also learned that when holding the handle and extending the arm, the fire pod should be at the armpit. I was told that makes for the best size and creates more range of movements and tricks. Perhaps its the same thing but different way to measure?

    • @togosisspam4346
      @togosisspam4346 7 лет назад

      I do not know but my way is for extensions. If you do extensions with those poi they will hit the floor. Post more poi vids and enjoy the flow!

      onenomadwoman I used 3 foot dog chains, 3/4 inch flat tip eye bolts with the same set up with nuts and washers. Used locktight red and hardened it with a lighter. I used 2 full 3ft rolls of Kevlar tape; now the hard part was using an ice pick then having to shove those thick bolts through a solid roll of Kevlar. (Lol that took a serious feat of strength). Took some finger loops off my practice poi and just sew some leather onto the inside of the loop. Used some small screw on quick links for the finger loops and large screw on quick links to attach the poi. I used galvanized steel for the bolt, but and washers then sprayed it with high heat grill paint. Side note: Because I used so much Kevlar , I have huge fire poi with super long chains and it's very heavy when swinging, but I'm a weight lifter so it's not too much of an issue I just have to be careful not to castrate myself or knock my head off. (It happens from time to time). But for real I purposely overbuilt my set so that there would be a lower chance of something breaking or flying off. The only 2 draw backs is the weight , and length (adjusted by spinning around my hands). Have to check everything before and after use. I've lit them up about 15 times and they don't show too much wear. The only trick I've learned is to use Naptha fuel, it's low heat and Burns white and doesn't put too much wear on the poi. Sorry for such a long comment; and thank you again for showing how to make poi on the cheap end. (Kevlar isn't cheap though)

    • @onenomadwoman
      @onenomadwoman 7 лет назад

      There are many ways to light them up- the hotter the stuff used burns though, the less life your kevlar or jean material will have. I like to use cool burning lamp oil :) LEDs are also awesome! I love to play with LED poi as well in more crowded areas ;) So the LED pipe dream.. is that like an LED strip of some sort? How do you use it?

      @matthew kemp Hi Matthew! That is probably mostly true, as I was quite an amateur when I made this video. I wanted to play fire poi while sailing in the med, and was only able to buy material from a boat shop, sooooo this is what I made. They have worked wonderfully for me <3

    • @onenomadwoman
      @onenomadwoman 4 года назад

      @pinecone Well, that has not been my experience while playing with this particular set. They are quite heavy actually and give a fantastic work out for the chest, shoulders and arms! I have played with these many, many times, and always check them before and after play, and haven't had any issues. Sure, every now and then I give them some tightening, but not that often. They are - perhaps surprisingly, quite secure.
