The 1923 Tokyo earthquake and murder of 6,000 Koreans

    Do you know if it's the same process for a car with expired shaken? I bought a car at auction and am planning to register it. I know you need to get temporary plates if you want to drive the car to a test center. Regarding the insurance you mentioned: Do you need to prepare anything beforehand or can you just walk into the place you mentioned at 5:40 and purchase it?

    • @vareast
      @vareast Месяц назад

      To be honest, I don't know, but the transportation office takes care of registrations and shaken so pretty sure you can do everything at once. I never prepared anything re. insurance but my previous insurance hadn't expired. Again, that's where things happen so I'm sure you can do everything once you get there. Obviously for registration you have to prepare certain things, like the parking space. You might also need a certificate of residence (juminho) from your local government office. If you can speak a bit of Japanese, the helper offices should be able to take care of you.

      Sorry, I don't know the answer. I think you have to re-register the car because it's tied to a parking space in Sapporo (unless it's a K-car).

    • @vareast
      @vareast Год назад

      For my car (2009 Mazda Axela), it cost 56,000 yen. If you fail on something (it's nearly always headlights), you have to get it fixed first. There are one or two places nearby that can fix certain things (headlights) and you can retest your car another two times (I think) on the same day. I think if you have to come back on a different day, you may have to pay extra. Most of the cost is taken up by insurance and tax, not testing. I can't remember how much a new test would cost. The separate offices there that help you fill out forms (for a small fee) are very helpful, so you could always ask them.

    I have never seen such a close frequency of waves before, the amount of horizontal lines in the water is scary! But luckily the run up looked quite shallow which would have slowed the wave and absorbed alot of its power. Also because of this I think the defence system was able to cope a lot better than some other places fared, but still a scary thing to see from ground level I'm sure. A lot of the coastline didn't even have defence walls, so I think the authorities knew that the bathymetry of the area would ensure a good natural defence. That or this was either far north or far south, before the end curve of the wave which I hear can carry a bit more power. Good upload👍

(About to move in to Japan) I usually maintain my car such as engine/brake oil, ATF/differential/power steering fluid, etc in my country and I’m also going to maintain my own car in Japan as well (planning to purchased used Nissan Fuga or so). Will user shaken require me to fix/replace even unnecessary parts although car’s condition is good and well-maintained if they see me as a foreigner? I heard many bad stories about shaken..

      You shouldn't have a problem. They're only interested in the car passing its tests. They've been quite friendly when I've done it. If you buy a Fuga (which I like) or some other Japanese car in decent condition, you rarely have to change anything.
