I've been a collector since the mid 80s. They don't make Rookie cards that are portrait like anymore. I HATE action cards except for a few players with unique batting and pitching stances. For example: Kevin Youkilis or Craig Kimbrel.
I agree. I started collecting as an 8 year old in 1980. Portrait cards made the box scores I read every morning at breakfast come alive by placing a face with every players’ name. It was certainly a different time when the only players you could see daily were the home team.

I think it's some kind of warning system. My gerbils did it when they heard a noise they didn't like. I think in the wild it would warn the other gerbils about possible danger.
