Washed rice water (WRW) is often claimed by our neighbors, friends, family, and media that WRW is a beneficial plant fertilizer. This claim originates from the notion that the nutrients washed out of the rice grains during rice washing can be reused as fertilizer. But surprisingly, strong scientific evidence of WRW's beneficial effects is nearly non-existent. In other words, these claims are based more on anecdotes than science. Until now.
