La substancia física de la música es el sonido. Para que no parezcan una suma de sonidos aleatorios que acompañan una imagen inexistente, la música serial contemporánea debe sustituir el orden melódico y armónico tonal por el atractivo tímbrico y rítmico. Recuerdo haberle dicho esto hace años al maestro Gabriel Brcic, chileno, tras un concierto con obras suyas en Buenos Aires. A lo que agregué que me gustó lo escuchado porque "el sonido" mantuvo mi atención de principio a fin de la interpretación; cosa que en este caso solo me duró unos minutos, tras los cuales no escuché "nada novedoso" que no se repitiera. No conocía a la autora y buscaré otras obras, siempre con una disposición limitada a contemporizar con la estética post dodecafónica, que cuenta con un bajísimo porcentaje de público fiel a su escucha.
