    This is accurate, but I would like to add more information that may be helpful for your audience. The Paralympics is on par with the Olympics. These are elite athletes who compete internationally for Olympic medals. The Special Olympics is much more inclusive of all ability levels, and is not an international competition of Olympic-level athletes. All three of these sporting competitions are important, and I don't mean to say one is better than the other. I'm just clarifying the differences, because it's common for people to think that Paralympics and Special Olympics are the same.

  • @resourceress7

    All of the conditions under the neurodivergent umbrella can be accommodated as needed under the ADA. Some neurodivergent people don't see their neurotype as a disability, but plenty of us know that there are disabling aspects, and we are valid and well within our rights to requesting and receiving any and all accommodations we may need.

    Hi, just stumbled across your channel. May I ask you to describe what exactly you do as a disability coach? How is it different from my care manager? Is it a job covered by SSDI, Medicare and/ or Medicaid? I've obviously followed you 😊

    • @kathryn.hubert
      @kathryn.hubert 2 дня назад

      Yes! Thank you so much for asking those questions! I own a restaurant in Greensboro, NC that has an integrated hiring model - meaning about 50% of our team is disabled and 50% is non-disabled. We are practicing what a true disability integrated workplace looks like & I coach other businesses and organizations who are wanting to do the same! So, yes, I do work with teammates with disabilities and there is coaching involved with my team (disabled and not!), but I'm not getting paid for that! I'm paying my team for their work instead. I do get paid individually by businesses or organizations who hire me as a speaker, workshop leader, or consultant though! Let me know if you have more questions. I love talking about it!

      @@kathryn.hubert oh wow, that's very awesome! I'm in Ohio (and can't work...) or I'd send a couple people to apply, that were very awesome servers (and a barista) before they became disabled. Is there any chance of a video simulating a workshop? Or part of it - enough to give an idea of what you're teaching without giving away so much businesses use it instead... I'm just mad curious (and a bit verklimpt about it - there was a time i COULD still work, but I had _so_ much trouble, I'd get hired by places that would agree to a count accommodations, then they'd ignore that and try to get me to do things I _literally, physically_ could not. I wish you, and people like you, had been around back then! There's been so much movement in disability rights, it's amazing and makes me very happy... just also a little bitter, ya know?) Sorry, I'm having a bad day and this message is more negative than normal. But your job - the fact that businesses _hire_ you to _teach_ rhythm, it gives me so much hope! Thank you!!!!!
