Loved this one too. Issue for me was the inflexible character building. Ended up going for the same things every time because trying to get other stuff is too random and will clip the whole run getting refreshes. Esp at Alert 8 where refresh is twice as expensive and you only get two options per refresh.
Sheesh that sounds like a doosey to look forward too haha.

If you put tactics in all other slots before picking up fire, then you'll have a higher chance of getting rings of fire. I'd say just try to fill every slot except the evotype spot.

Nice, GGS!! I have been working on this too. Triple Dash and Triple Jump should just always be options lol. I did a no-hit on Nan with Ragna without Triple Dash and it was pretty cancer lol. It's fun because it forces you to nr precise but man it's punishing.
Yea Trying to do anything without triple dash makes me want to eat myself lol. Tripling your I-frames is just to good to pass up
@@Yappatron_Prime Exactly. I saved the Nan fight on my channel if you want to see it. The laser part was so cheesy because it glitched and would keep hitting me before the lasers show up. Fortunately, that run I got her to skip it.

Actually one of my favorite things. When I look at some of the stuff like, wow I remember getting hit by this, or doing it. Though I am kinda confused why they didn't have Rachel Alucard instead of Kokonoe because the whole setplay stuff kokonoe has in this game is more similar to what rachel does in the fighting games.
i beat my 55 entropy with mommy mai best character in the game in my opinion.
she is a waifu for a reason
found out earlier that mai might have the best single target dps in the game, her stance (hold attack) has an upgrade where you hold skill to spend mp, a full bar can do around 30k without tactics and mai's recharging time feels very fast, i managed to beat nan-fire in under a min without a good tactic build

Hey, I'm new to the game thanks for the videos. Could you explain the tactic choices a bit more? I never know which ones to pick
Well you see, usually It depends on what type of potential build I am doing. I usually decide based off of what potential I get, what tactics my evotypes have, and what is available at the start. For instance, if I get a light attack potential in the beginning, I will try to focus my build around light skill, and will try to pick up tactics that have to do with skill attacks with the exception of impulse. Then the second tactic I pick up will be one that synergizes with the first.

Who's the best character now? I just started and want to have a blast with an awesome strong character
Go with jin. While I don't believe his damage is the best of the cast, he has his freeze which makes enemies and bosses alike unable to fight back. Another option would be noel. She has good damage and you can sit very far back a lot of the time and be safe. Just envelope the hit and run mindset or zoner mindset. Lastly I'd suggest hibiki simply because hes simple and good all around. Very stable choice.

Yes at least in early access, I've been playing now that the game has dropped and she still feels absurd but I haven't fully unlocked all the systems nor played that much jin
One thing that drives me bonkers in this game (and many other 2D combat games) is that melee characters can't attack without moving DRASTICALLY forward AND move through and behind the enemy that they are hitting which makes ZERO sense at all. Again, the idea of the mechanic not harmonizing with the way the game is meant to be played. I love the near bullet-hell nature of traps, projectiles, and enemy attacks that make positioning so important, but when I'm playing Ragna and I'm trying to attack this enemy right next to me but I CANT because if I even tap the attack button he will lunge 3 feet forward and not only swing past the enemy but step on the trap behind him, so you just end up standing there or jumping away just to be able to hit the enemy. It's bullocks. Or I'm attacking this enemy with armor right next to me and the second and third hit whiff because Ragna steps past the enemy while swinging but doesn't push them with the first hit because they are armored. OBVIOUSLY he should just stay in place if he can't move the enemy in front of him!! How does it make sense for him to move past the enemy if he can't move the enemy?? Oblivion Override does the same ridiculous thing which leads to so many moments where you just stand next to the enemy awkwardly because you have no way to attack them without moving into a hit or falling etc. Absolutely bonkers. /rant
I feel this the most playing noellers to be honest, but I loathe ranga simple because he has negatives returns on using his special. An unnecessary gimmick if you ask me. I'll have to mention this in my review if they dont fix that on release
@@Yappatron_Prime Agreed. You don't feel the reward... At all. Again because it doesn't match up with the way the game is played. I honestly think this game would get better leaning away from traps and projectiles and leaning in on souls-lite combat. Fewer but stronger enemies that really reward you for breaking guard, doing combos and setting up big moves. They're fighting game characters... Did you know Ragna has like 6 complex air combos? I've yet to pull one off without the enemy dying in the first two hits AND me flying into some trap, explosion, or butterfly. It's really fun as is but could really be so much better for the mechanics that are already in the game.
Yeah, tbh, I'm pleased with minor adjustments to freshen the game up. But I won't be ready for new content for real until April lol. Granblue gonna bury me. The coop mode sounds interesting though. Above all, hard agree that the tactics in general need to be rethought. We'll see though, because I imagine if they made any drastic changes like that it would defeat the point of EA to not test any of them out before releasing.
I've been working on no-hit lately as trying to get builds is a little too RNG to keep my interest. It's like it wastes your 40 minutes just by getting the thing you didn't want or you get it right before killing the boss which doesn't feel all that rewarding. I'd love to see rogues have a progressive mode in addition to the standard mode, where you have the highest stat/difficulty enemies but you keep one or two skills/tactics from your build each run. The goal being to eventually build a specific perfect build actually really compare one thing with another. That's the opposite of roguelite but I can't see it not being fun for people that enjoy the gameplay to have the option. It would def keep my interest longer past beating the highest difficulty with each character so it seems like a good way to add worthwhile content without needing new assets.
Yea exactly. A lot of roguelikes that have "overwhelmingly positive" have mechanics in place where rng is not a crazy factor in future runs. Games like dead cells legit give you the ability to make certain things not appear while giving u many opportunities to get weapons. And hades has the trinket system that guarantees you see certain gods in your run so I can guarantee something like ice and lightning. I do feel like rng takes too much of the front seat compared to other action roguelikes in this game
Maybe having the game more balanced would also make it not a problem like in gunfire reborn and voidigo. Everything seems mostly viable yet different. Things like REND in this game feel completely useless half the time because half the enemies to not moce
@@Yappatron_Prime That's good to hear bc I recommended something like this for another game Oblivion Override which is ten times worse than Blazblue as far as RNG. I've literally never gotten any "build" just a complete hodgepodge of effective skills to the point I completely ignore the higher level complexities of its systems. I just get dodge, shield, and attack on dodge because trying to get anything else is literally like trying to win the lottery. But, people quickly told me that was the point of rogues so I did not want to rock the boat. For me, though, the longevity of the game is severely lessened if I can't actually "work" on something.
@@Yappatron_Prime Also, this. If complete randomness is the intention, then a lot of the skills need to be more useful and better synergized with how the game is actually played. Outside of Frost Shock and Lightning most of the skills are so ineffective you have to actively stop playing if you want to see them work. They are generally so dependent on enemies being alive and in the same place after you hit them like poison, burn, tentacles, shadow clones, slimes, mines. If I ever want to see these things hit I have to deliberately not kill them or knock them away. Frost Shock and Impulse are perfect. You hit the enemy they go off. Ice Spikes home in on them. The daggers always whiff because they are miles behind you, like the shadow dashes and the shadow punctures. If these things did about 3x the dmg of Frost Shock (so you could one shot enemies my tagging them and moving or dashing through them in the case of daggers and shadow dashes) then they'd be somewhat useful. I'm not sure how the devs play but I never keep the enemies in place or alive for more then 1-2 seconds.
@@nottyseel949 yea actually. Apparently in a Q&A that im going to go over probably sometime today, the biggest thing was that no early access data will be going into the full release. Also the fact that early access was to test systems. Apparently big changes are coming to potentials, talents, evotypes, and entropy. I don't mind the current potential system compared to the latter three though.
Been meaning to pick this one up, but too busy with other games. Trying to beat Scarlet Nexus and Cross Code before Granblue comes out bc I know that one will absorb my life. So prob will get around to this one late February-March. Is Spiritfall in EA or full release?

There is a synergy with the dash on Jin that feels absolutely bonkers. Along with the dash if you get the attack and skill double button press during combos potential you get a big stab attack that feels like it just does nutso damage. If you also get the additional freeze potential it starts to go insane with everything airways being frozen.
Hmmm I'll keep this in mind next time I play Jin
what do you think the optimal build would be for characters that lack multihits? because cold is much weaker with them as you cant trigger frost shock repeatedly. i know blade can do good damage and so can light so maybe one of or both of those?
For those characters I usually... light on my normals Poison or shadow on the skill depending on how good their dash build is. If it sucks I'll go Poison if it's solid I'll go shadow and try to grab shadow dash or mines. Dash - depends but usually anything but flash cause I don't think it's good. For the summon I do anything And legacy I usually try to do light spears for the synergy with my basic attack
@@Yappatron_Prime flash has a really good red tactic with lightspear that summons a spear of 900 damage (strongest spears in the game i believe) on every flash. pair that with dodge flash which creates a bunch of flashes and as many light spear upgrades as you can get, and you basically have a full screen nuke when you dodge. you can even use jin or his legacy for the time stop when you use it. its not great on bosses but your only using your legacy skill and dash slots to make os and training easy
@@fq_a interestingly enough, but I just prefer things that are useful for bossing over ad clearing. I feel like almost any build can clear ads.
Yeah lol, it was Legacy Edge (Hold Skill). I mix it up when playing too lol.
18:20 Unfortunately, Legacy Edge showed up the same time as Act Parcer Tri (Dash attacks enemies). As ridiculous as her damage is with all those skills, none for me compared to the dash because it drags enemies together and hits like 7 times per dash for multiple frost shocks each triple dash. For a cold build it melts.
And as if you need to kill the boss any faster, but dashing while the Legacy Edge is firing just one shots everything. It's pretty broken. I think there's a lightning variant that's also pretty good (I saw a build on Kooya Haw's channel). I'm gonna try to get that today and see how it works.

@@Yappatron_Prime I had the most ridiculous, no-cold, Lambda build/run based on Lightning and her homing skill. The most fun I've had on Lambda and STUPID shadowplay decided to randomly record the wrong monitor!!! I'm gonna try to pull another one and if I can I'll link you up. Lambda has some hidden tech.

I stumbled onto an OP Lambda build trying this earlier. But still can't find any way to do it without cheesing (for some reason this game rewards hitting the boss with hit stun so multiattacks can practically freeze the boss). Posting this before watching your run, so let's see what you came up with.
What was the op Lambda build I'll try it next time I play and post it. Me trying that OP lambda video would be on thurs or friday cause videos for 01/02 and 03 are set
@@Yappatron_Prime Ah, you've probably done something like it: Potentials: -Attack while Dashing -Air Basic Attack Range increase -Exhaust MP -Down and Skill (Portal opens with many blades moving horizontally) -Triple Dash Tactics: -Cold on Basic -Cold while Dashing -Frost Shock -Icicles -Any other cold tactic dmg buff Jin's Evotype Playstyle is you just dash into everything to kill it instantly. It staggers and drags enemies even with armor. Bosses you open the portal in front of them and dash into them repeatedly (usually triggering Jin passive) and they die during the portal. Most do not even get a single attack off, including Sus. Spam jump attacks prior to getting the attack while dashing.
@nottyseel949 haha yes actually. I did do something similar but I haven't tried it with dash on lambda. I pretty much did this build in this video funny enough. I do feel like cold trumps every other tallent in this game
@@Yappatron_Prime Yeah, it's stunning how fast dash Lambda with frost shock can kill bc she hits so many times in each dash. It's noticeably faster than jump attack spamming in the corner with the wall bounce aoe (which is already stupid fast). I'm gonna try this Hibiki run later. I haven't gone back to him since I started. I think he's still sitting at max 250 score or something LOL. And yeah I always shoot for cold, bladestorm, and black hole because they just stunlock and drag everything. I like tentacles, burn, lightning, but they definitely are underpowered in effectiveness compared to the mighty power of hit stun, slow, and cold stacks.
@@Yappatron_Prime 30:22 Yeah, that's pretty much what the Lambda build does. It's toxic lol. Thanks for the demo! I hadn't realized that the double lasers stopped eventually, I guess I was always just spamming and either dying by getting caught or killing the boss by cheesing. I'd never seen the lasers go away and give you a dps opportunity lol. Well, that solves that.

This game needs a practice mode so bad.
I thought about that too tbh. Kinda like what another Roguelike game has called dead cells. In dead cells you can mix and match weapons and items to fight various enemies and bosses. A feature like this would make my job 10x easier when the game fully drops and I take up the task of explaining every single character, boss, and talent tree.
Do you have a strategy for that boss with the double cross lasers. The two diamond shapes that just spin. I can't see any way to hit it without getting hit alot so I'm forced to use spammy characters or avoid it. I figure there's gotta be a way to not get hit...

I avoid that boss like the plauge... but I think the only way to do it is take triple dash. I'd have to fight that boss again... I will do it right now actually.
So yea I tried it, and it's quite possible. I did mess up about 2 times, but I do think it's possible. I'm gonna attempt perfecting the boss again tomorrow and make a short or a video on it. Outside the first two phases which I believe you can get through if your patient enough, you wanna stick to the right and perfectly dodge until both the platforms are gone then run to the left staying inbetween them then dodge right one final time. The second set of lasers and projectiles I stayed to the left and jumped and dodged and same with the last set of lasers. I messed up on the first and second part. I'm gonna try to get a clean clip tomorrow, if I don't Ima just post what I have now
@@Yappatron_Prime Sounds good, thanks. I tried dodging when the lasers are aligned, but as soon as you hit one they get out of sync. The only way I'm able to do it at all is using a character with such frequent attacks they can practically freeze the boss in place. Anything else I just have to tank the damage or baby it with extremely infrequent but safe attacks.
@@nottyseel949 I get that. All my runs today are a bust so I am sick of BlazBlue rn, but tomorrow morning I'll post my run where I fight the floating mind but I do have jin evotype and triple dash. I'm trying to get a run without having Jin as an evotype, and triple dash because both of those things trivialize encounters. But after throwing 3 runs I think I am done for today.

Just use your health as a means to do more damage, as long as your not one shot away from death, you don't need to dodge.
