Great video! Covered the majority of questions I had regarding RUclips as a new content creator, thanks!
Defamation has more than three things as requirements. False: The statement must be false and claim to be fact Harmful: The statement must be hurtful to the person's reputation and cause some kind of injury, such as feelings of hatred, contempt, ridicule, fear, or dislike Published: The statement must be communicated to at least one person other than the person defamed Unprivileged: Lawmakers determine whether a statement is privileged or not, weighing the need to avoid defamation against the importance of allowing the statement to be freely made Defendant at fault: The person accused of defamation must actually be at fault Large companies can also sue you into silence simply because they have more money than you and drag this out in court. That’s a common tactic by businesses as well.
Thank you for the sharing this knowledge .. could you please share your email ID .. I would like to register TM for my new business.
Does trade mark registration protects you across the world ?
How many shares am I supposed to put on the incorporation agreement?
i really appreciate your video , much thanks ,, i am currently buying a lobster licence and i truly dont know how to structure my business to maximize my tax savings. For a lobster licence prices vary from area to area but in my case its roughly 800K$ In my area most fisherman will get between 300 and 600000$ in gross profits per year. We usually get around 100 to 115K$ in expenses and my payments on that 800k is about 96000$ per year and if i remember right about 55k of that 96k is interest alone. So lets say i gross around 400k , remove my 115k in expenses and i have about 285k left minus my 96k in payments , leaving roughly 189K before taxes and i haven't taken a salary yet. In my 96k payments i know that my interest is deductible if its structured right so technically i would have more then 189k left because about 55k of that was interest. My loan is divided into 2 , half is at the bank at close to 7%( 15 years) interest and the other half is with the loan board witch is a provincal program( 25 years at 5%) to help fisherman. So everyone that has these types of fishing loans concentrate on getting rid of the bank debt first as there is more interest to pay. Another side note is that here in canada , lobster fisherman i lucky that because we are seasonal , we get EI for about 7 to 8 months while not fishing so this helps while trying to establish your business and get things paid off , i dont need to take a huge salary from the business . The EI portion gives us about 20k net during those 7 to 8 months on EI. So i wouldn't need to take a big salary from the business thus leaving more in the business account to help pay off the debt. But this is pretty much how lobster fisherman are set up. Now with all of that said , its tough to figure out what would the best way for me to set this up to maximize my earnings while paying less taxes ,,, ANY help or recommendations on this would be really appreciated ..cheers :)
If you incorporate your business does it reach back for protection for the previous years that you were not incorporated?
Loved your content!
Great video I had a question. I am starting a Shopify store and want to sell all over Canada eventually the US. I already incorporated an LLC federally and my business is based in BC. I understand I still have to register provincially in BC. But I still have to register in each province I want to sell in even if I do drop shipping ?
Can you please make a video actually registering a trademark on the Canadian government site step by step. No one has done it yet?
Hi, thanks for the information. Can I file trademark application by myself living in Sweden or do I need a lawyer in Canada?
I am curious if a US business can sue a Canadian client for an honest review.
Useful information thank you. Yes the Apple part was funny but you speak too fast, English is our second language.
You mean federal not Canadian. Both the federal and provincial corp would be Canadian owned.
Thank you for your video excellent video, just one thing, now I am providing engineering consulting services in British Columbia, Canada. I used to operate as a sole proprietorship. However, the recruiting agency I am currently working with, based in Ottawa, is asking me to incorporate my business as an independent contractor in order to continue working with them on a year-to-year contract. Now I'm wondering whether I should opt for federal incorporation or provincial incorporation. Which type of corporation would be more suitable for my situation?
Would love to know about unregistered trademarks. What are the criteria that give protection etc?
Great job! - thanks
Great video! Question: Can a fair dealings use of a copyrighted work be of a commercial nature, and are there stipulations on such use? Thanks!
Get a lawyer always. As simple as that.
What if the giveaway is not a raffle, no purchase was required and the product was intended to be randomly gifted into the community; example, each month the business randomly gifts one item into the community by placing it in an anonymous public location for someone to find. I saw this done by a home crafted business who was making quilted hearts and leaving them hanging on random trees with their business website pinned to it. Then they were sharing that on facebook whenever someone messaged their business page with a thank you note. So ideally, they were indirectly promoting their business.
I love this video, I've been wondering if it's worth trademarking things in my business.
Red flag already! I can't imagine you being a lawyer. The video is deceiving it says HOW TO INCORPORATE....YOU HAVENT EXPLAINED HOW TO DO IT! fkn jerk!
Great content very helpful!!!!💯🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥❤️💰⚡️💥 keep up the hard work !!
Great video! Thanks for the information :)

Super solid information and very creative usage of the law on TMs! My favourite takeaway was the immediate benefits that owning a registered TM can have for a business. Thanks for posting yet another great video!

Hello can an international student without a citizenship nor permanent residence apply for trademark in canada
Thank you for simplifying it. They make it such a confusing process clearly because they don't want the average Joe to escape work force slavery
Glad you found it helpful. All the best in your business venture!

Over to you! What questions can I answer about defamation law? :)
Maybe she was warned off by powerful forces against publishing 'as is' and refused to make changes, therefore, after her death, the sister published a watered down version.
Oh! Was this for Harper Lee's "Go Set a Watchman"? Thanks for your comment 'cause it got me researching more. Yeah, apparently most now accept that it was her earlier draft for "To Kill a Mockingbird". As a writer, I understand keeping the draft manuscript without intent to publish (not just for sentimental reasons, but also because the seeds of future works are often found in those drafts). I don't think Alice wanted the draft published either since it wasn't published till she passed away. Overall, I just wish the publishers did more investigation before they unleashed GSaW into the world. If nothing else, at least to respect Harper Lee's craftsmanship. There's probably a reason she didn't publish GSaW for 50+ years.
Over to you! What questions do you have about copyrights in Canada?
Are the time periods (50 yrs) the same in Canada as in the US following the death of an author?
@@theory-one Hi Theory! Great question. By "author" did you mean a writer? If so, then generally yes. At the time of my reply, Canadian copyright lasts up to 50 years after the author's death (provided the work wasn't commissioned by the government, the author was the sole author, and others know that the piece was written by that author).
How can we counter a fair dealing argument by an infringer?
🤩 thank you!
Any time!
Oops! Totally mispronounced Hermes. Correct pronunciation: ehr-mez.
