Mindfulness and Working with Emotions
This is a 29 minute excerpt from a talk by Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche that covers the title subjects very well. My apologies for misspelling Naropa University in the opening titles. The titles were added live and are not easy to change now. The recording was made in 2003 and Rinpoche's teaching is a skillful, "classic" statement on the subjects of mindfulness and working with emotions.

Very well answered. Beauty, or computers or whatever, it can be enjoyed naturally, and this genuine joy lies precisely on the lack of attachment for such things. Greetings for all.

Good advice for life in general. It beats merely praying to some external force that might ignore your requests.

so what does this guy mean about values and the cultivation of happiness? what does he say about the habits of personality and how they relate to a feeling of joy, and reduction of ignorance. i do not understand how coffee and coca cola can be metaphors of the tibetan tradition, which by FAR, surpasses any other accessible buddhist tradition. what does he have to say about cultivation of mind? and applying it to debate and meaningful insigt? milk? cookies? spoiled tibetan tea? shame on you

He means NEGATIVE habits of personality destroys joy. To cultivate joy you have to look at things fresh and new like a young child without judgement dictated from past experiences creating the reality allowing the reality to be the peace of your mind. But don't listen to this old dead guy he made some big mistakes like honoring Steven Segal as a real tulku after a big pay-off.

I love this Rinpoche so much, he has a underlying sense of joy and humor that eminate from him, and the manner in which he relates to us and our western cultural idoisyncracies is very amusing and very insightful. I think he is a great teacher. Thank you so much for posting and sharing these videos with us!
