MTB ride from Fort de La Platte down to Bourg. nice easy Singletrack, super flowy, and amazing views. A good alternative morning compared to the trails on the other side of the Valley at Les Arcs.

Love me some Ahab! No need for the music though
Got you the SUB buddy
One of my favorite trail in Moab! 🧡🧡
Completely agree they were unbecoming of a quality trail. However they were only there for the next days Enduro Race
"We who are about to die, salute you!" ~ Gladiator For riding up to descend the RIBBON even though on Asphalt (Ass-Fault)! Interesting development to "SEE" the "COLORED" sandbags to Keep "YOU" on the "Straight and Narrower". This is Obscene behavior and a Grave Threat to Freedom, Liberty, and the True Spirit of "Mountain Biking" and they shortly be desposed of in the "Toliet Bowl" because they look like shit and stifel Freedom and Creativity! Thanks for the Alarming Report! "Enjoy the Ride!" ~ Bill HIcks
What a trail man. Those little blue arrows / lines are life savers by the look of it. Cheeky little follow me drone footage too 🤟🏻
Great video and nowhere near the likes it deserves 👏 Do you have any route gpx files? I live locally and would love to go around there.
Hi Dave, Sorry I dont have a GPX to hand but its a pretty easy route. Parked at Gospel Pass Car park head over to Offa Dyke path go over Crib y Garth, drop down and swing round to the left heading North back upto Gospel ass. Then climb Lord Herefords Nob, descend down that take eth Bridle way south and then follow it round to eth left climbing back to Gospel Pass Car Park
Very cool.
Where is the location?
Hi Crispen, can I ask what route you took? Myself and my son attempted at the start of early September from the Linn of Dee but we had to turn back because my bike rack broke when the bag jumped off and got wedged on the inside between the wheel and the rack! We will try again in the spring. We got different different opinions in routes to take from walkers we spoke to.
Hi We went up over Carn a' Mhaim. This was a good way up, some of it rideable. The ridge across the top was technical but mostly rideable too. However, the scree/ boulder climb up to Ben Macdui was horrible and dangerous as it was easy to slip off a boulder and twist a foot. This is not recommended if you are carrying a load on your bike as it seems you are. I think the easiest way up Ben Macdui is from the North leaving from the Ski Centre
could this route be done on a hardtail? or is double suspension essential ??
Its quite rocky but a Hardtail can ride any trail. If thats what you ride then it'll do fine. If you have a choice then the FS will be a bit faster
Nice riding pal 🤟🏻
Good to see you had a great time on Anglesey. The caves around the White Arch are amazing aren't they?
Fantastik
Hi, whats your phone/controller setup for using ff me mode? Thanks!
Sadly this Fury is no more
Oh no, that’s a shame. What happened? Crashed?
@@TheCrippo no Crispin, I sold it back to a guy who briefly owned it in the past and some time later it ended up in the hands of someone who stripped it for the parts! I guess he thought they were worth more than the car was. Shame given the cars long history. I did it's last track day at Castle Combe so in a way it had gone full circle.
Looks good
Nice. Looking at that exact route for a post lockdown ride. Can I ask what camera you are using. Which mount are you using? Is it chin mounted? Thanks, keep up the rides.
McYoon I used a Chest Harness to mount the Camera. Can’t remember which camera I used for this but I think it was my Garmin VIRB. I also have GoPro Session 5 they both have Stability built in. Have just got a GoPro 8. That stability is off the scale. Check my recent 2 videos for evidence of that camera
Crispin Smith ah right. Was looking at the 8. I’ve an original HD hero with a few mounts inc the chesty. Looked like the view moved as if it was on a chin mount. Thanks for your reply, will check out your lastest.
Nice Vid, I did this ride back in July also in nice weather. Smashed my back rim on one of the drainage gullys on the descent. A bit of footage of the hike a bike climb just before the start of the descent would add extra interest.
Awesome route, Lake District classic, filmed the Ullock descent on a gimbal yesterday evening, check it out ruclips.net/video/GepwxnXEQ38/видео.html
Whoops! I tried the camera position we spoke about today and it looks great as you said. I just stuck the phone with VHB until the mount arrives tomorrow. Thanks for your advice. Wednesday will be my first track day in the VXT after 6 years tracking my Volvo so I'm looking forward to the enhanced handling. Lol.
Comments from Lake District National Park Countryside Access Adviser: The first thing to mention is that such usage is not illegal in that it is not a criminal offence. Like walking across land where there is no recorded public footpath, it is a civil offence against the landowner. And if the landowner does not mind, then it is not even trespass. Just to briefly explain the status of different public access routes and land: • Footpaths - for use by walkers only; • Bridleways - for use by walkers, horse-riders and pedal cyclists; • Restricted byways - for use by all of the above plus horse and carriage; • Byways Open to All Traffic - for use by all of the above plus mechanically propelled vehicles (trail bikes and 4x4s); • Permitted Cycle routes - some paths do not have legal access for bikes, but landowners have offered to allow usage on a permitted basis; • Open Access Land - open for walkers, possibly with equestrian or other rights depending on the specific area and how it became open access. Mountain bikers therefore have a legal right to use all public rights of way except footpaths, and may be able to use some open access land (especially some of the common land - including footpaths on them). And of course, if landowners are happy for cyclists to use their land, or footpaths on their land - then this is also legally acceptable. In simple terms - we don’t have a specific written policy about these matters. However, we are aware that usage can raise conflict between users, and so we do a lot of work in raising awareness with different user groups about their rights and responsibilities. We have had codes of conduct for mountain bikers and work with local clubs and shops to help get the message across, and this helps mitigate issues that arise. Like any user group, mountain bikers will do some damage to the rights of way they use, and repair of these paths comes under our general maintenance work throughout the National Park. Our overarching policy is to help resolve conflict between users, other users, and landowners - which underpins all the work we do in managing the rights of way network. However, I must also say that these conflicts are relatively rare, and in all my years of walking in the countryside I have rarely, if ever, witnessed any actual incidents. And nor have we had any reports of actual accidents or injuries to walkers in the 15 years or so that I have been working in rights of way. Over the years we have found that perception of conflict and danger is generally far greater than the reality. And official studies about this topic seem to bear our experiences out. I can’t speak for our partners, as they will all have slightly different stances. However, some actively develop mountain bike routes - such as the Forestry Commission in Grizedale and Whinlatter. And others (such as the National Trust and United Utilities) work with us to both create routes and to manage the issues as described above. I must again stress that cycling on footpaths is not an offence and if the landowner is happy to tolerate cyclists, then it is not trespass either. Therefore it would not be appropriate for us to actually take any action against people cycling on footpaths - as they are not actually ‘prohibited’ from using footpaths. I am sure that you will understand that we cannot really enforce something that is not an offence. The other thing worth mentioning though is about the ‘adrenalin seeker’ aspect. This is where there is likely to be most conflict and danger - because there is less likelihood of the cyclists giving way to walkers or taking avoiding action. This behaviour would probably be covered by the normal highway related offences of things like ‘riding furiously’ or ‘without due care and attention’. These are Police matters - but how you/we would report such matters without actually stopping the cyclist and finding out who they are I’m not really too sure. And this is a task that is probably beyond us at present.
Great mountain bike route but sadly not legal - it's a public footpath only down from Skiddaw and along the ridge over Ullock Pike.
+Nogin TheNog Cycling on a public footpath is not against the law, please educate yourself in this area before bringing your opinions on here
Please read the comments from the Lake District National Park Countryside Access Adviser, posted above, for some clarification on this issue. My facts, you will see, are not 100% incorrect since, by cycling along this route, you are technically committing a Civil Offence against the landowner albeit not a Criminal Offence. Your choice of linguistic construction is very poor. Sentences should start with a capital letter, proper names should be capitalized, "your" should read "you're" and there is no such word as "nubtard" but thank you for your interest in this discussion.
First off: this is the net, take your grammar policing elsewhere "n00b"!. Secondly: ive never heard so much bullshit Thirdly: Tell me, how many people have been arrested, charged, banged up, hanged for riding there cycle at this said place? NONE! Fourthly: Pick your dummy up along with your harry potter walking poles on the way out & go and have a nice cup of stfu! (careful not to slip as it might end up your ring hole, but then you would probably enjoy that). ty :-) Fithly: No one here gives a toss about your chubby brown comment..Go make a walking a video or something. Finally: The only reason why you have tried (but epic failed) to scare monger cyclists is because you don't like them while your walking, lol nub! Chow!
Just to clarify, I am not a walker but an experienced and serious mountain biker who, as a member of numerous organisations whom I will not begin to mention, follows the generally accepted code of conduct regarding cycling on public footpaths which is "don't do it." Please resist the temptation to reply further as your comments are too childish to contemplate.
just to clarify, your full of shit :-)
Sounds amazing on this vid and different than on the others Crispin, did you have the straight through pipe on? I still have it but not tried it on the car yet. I would think it wouldn't pass the track noise test though???
Hi Crispin, sorry I have only just seen that you replied!! I now own the car! Just managed to find today via Google the old listing you had for it on ebay (sadly the pics are all gone) and was going to contact you via that. I don't like to impose on people though tbh. I would love to know more about the car as it has changed a little bit since you and Ruari had it and I don't think some of the changes are for the better. I also replied today to one of Ruari's posts on Pistonheads and have spent half the day trawling thru yours and his posts in case I could pick up even a tad of info on the car. Would it be ok to message you via ebay maybe? Then perhaps we could talk more privately? Let me know if that's ok if you ever see this please. All the best, Steve
The VX was going very well. Where is the duel with the little silver S1... :)
Cool vid, mate music pretty good as well Im up in the lakes 1st week in june for my 60th birthday sticks pass, and now ullock pike on the hit list for that week thanks for sharing.
Cheers, Its definitely one of the best UK rides.....its also quite a big day out on the bike
Def on the cards! Beltin vid.
Its on my list of to do's this year! Proper natural riding, hows it meant to be. Top music too, makes a change for mtb clips
Hey Crispin, how does your VX220 compare to the Cossie Fury you had please?
Hi Steve, I have always Double de Clutched or H&T, however the gear box was certainly fine when I had the car. Whose owns it now?
I have recently driven this car Crispin! I struggled with the 4th to 3rd down change, I notice you double de-clutch so I guess it's been an issue for a while??
Been meaning to get back up here since Helvellyn & you've just given me the push... Simply epic!
Nice smooth driving from both there. Was a bloody hot day!
Thanks for your kind words. It was a good day but was too wet to push on , I had a high speed spin on the first session of the day and it was a real wake up call as too how quickly it can go wrong and I was lucky to keep it out of the wall, so I took it easy for the rest of the day just building speed slowly. Glad you had a good day too. I think your brother came over to me to say hi.
Yeah I looked rather 'exciting' in the VX haha. Glad it went ok though and was lucky enough to keep it out the wall. Ah cool did he? Must have been before I got there. I didn't arrive till during the lunchtime break. I'm looking at taking mine to a couple next year. What would the possibility be of you emailing the 2 clips of my brothers pass from the original videos please? I did drop you a FB friend request to ask the same thing so if you have a random request off someone you don't know its probably me :-)
Hi mate. Some good videos there. Came across them while searching for my own to show someone yesterday. I was there the same day. My brother has the blue Peugeot 306 that you managed to catch on your videos. Great to see it from another view. And you got it flaming going into Redgate. Did you enjoy it?
It's a Q car isn't it? so is it completely custom or based on something?
Thanks, this was shot before I had the instructor. I thin k some of it is eth angle that it is shot at. It looks much faster with the camera on the low part of the roll cage than when it is mounted higher. I prefer this angle because it represents pretty closely the view and feeling of speed that you get as the driver. However the car has around 320bhp and only weighs 650kgs ...so that also may have something to do with it.
This after the instructor? you look insanely fast!
haha..u can use the key chains as g-force meters!
Great Video, shows the new curbs and layout very well.
