Welcome to Workshop Wrenching. A place where Pete and pals hang out, fix cars and bikes, upgrade cars, race a lawn mower, buy, sell, and trade cars all with the goal of having fun and creating great content for the channel. Enjoy 👊
After 20 years of fixing, upgrading, building and racing stuff, a group of friends suggested I video what I do and pass on the knowledge (and pain) I've gained over the many projects I've completed. From building a garage extension to upgrading a Vivaro to a day van to building and racing a lawn mower, I've tried pretty much anything. 2022 Racing Mower - Teardown
In this series, we are going to take an old, broken Murray 125/96 Widebody lawnmower and transform it in to a racing lawnmower, ready for the 2022 BLMRA Racing Season.
In this episode, we are going to teardown the old mower and see what parts we need to retain to meet the strict homologation rules.
I show exactly how this is done at each step and as you know by now, everything I do, you can do too. My garage is at the end of my driveway and I have no fancy tools.
Success is closer when you take the first step. Keep wrenching.

Loncin Engine - Governor removal & Honda Carb replacement

In this unscheduled episode we take a closer look at the Governor removal from the Loncin 413 engine that we are using for our Racing Lawnmower. We also replace the original carb that causes fuel starvation in the corners. VW Golf Headlight Refurbishment

In this unexpected episode I refurbish the headlights of a 2006 VW Golf when I get a visitor to the workshop. My good friend Dina makes the most delicious cupcakes, so cakes swapped for fixed up headlights. How did you swap rubber on the back of handbrake mechanism? Mine is leaking from there
How much refrigerant does it need? And where does the oil go for the compressor?
The system capacity is 850 grams (30 oz) of R134. In addition, the compressor needs a synthetic lubricant for proper operation. If you're filling a completely empty system, add 195 ml (6.6 ounces) of ND 8 refrigerant oil.
When a system is open to the atmosphere, it is customary to replace the filter dryer.

This video was really helpful in me undertaking the same job. It would have been more helpful if I could have seen where you placed the axle stands and I didn't see you disconnect the wiring loom, but it became fairly obvious. The hardest part I found was disconnecting the headlamp washer hose, it was a real nightmare. I wish I had taken a photo of the bumper fit before removing as I am in the process of removing it again to see if I can approve the fit.

Photosensitive epilepsy WARNING ⚠️. Cant wait for the next video to see what your going to do with the rear chassis and t drive this time I've been waiting for one to come back in stock as I'm building the same one for 2022 never done it before and need some good info on building a racing mower as there isn't much anywhere else online. I did my teardown yesterday lol

Great video. I have the same job to do these days. One thing you should have done before putting the bumper back was: Install a grid/mesh to prevent more crap comming in the new condensors in the future.
Yeah, the mesh is a great idea and I have to take the bumper off when it goes into the paint shop, so I'll take the opportunity to do that. Thanks for the comment.
My mechanics cautioned me against installing the mesh, " Our tests have shown that the mesh inserts can increase engine temperatures by 10-15 ° F.". I fabricated a nozzle for my shop vacuum that I can snake in there, in between seasonal cleanings. Also a shot of Boesheild T-9 to help prevent corrosion....but, I do worry about stone damage. (I've pulled some BIG pieces of gravel out of there.)
