MY SECOND 3.5 TOURNAMENT WIN!! | Beijing, China
Hey everyone, this is a follow up to my 1st tournament video (link here if you haven't seen it ruclips.net/video/GIM6m3t5-7w/видео.html)
This was played 2 days after my 1st win and I guess I was motivated to do well. This one isn't as dramatic as the first but looking back there were some contentious line calls. I felt more relaxed and free and definitely enjoyed myself more this time around. Enjoy the highlights and the journey!

Is there a place that offer tennis racquet demos or rentals in case we don't want to pack our own?
Would you change from gravity pro to 100D? Looking to do this as the gravity pro is too heavy and can always customize ur 100D. What you think?
Well deserved win M, you have certainly improved. Much less passive than before and the forehands clearly so much more committed and decisive. Good serving and groundstrokes are also much smoother than before. All these against a decent opponent. Hope to play again soon
Improved so much, groundstrokes so much faster pace and serve is better and good pacing👍👍👍 well done AsianTennis Boy
Good job! I played Tennis123 3.5 tournaments too. It's difficult to adjust especially when I just leveled up from 3.0 division.
long time no see Eric on court😂
Congrats bro, good defensive play and let the opponent make the error.
Wow man congrats
Now I am in Macau. Can I play tennis in your sports center? It is a little bit difficult to find out reservation menu in the hompage.
Which would you choose 97H or 100D ?
Hahahahha bulbassor îm dead 😂😂
xDD
oh man there's no way I could handle 4 min moonball battles, you deserved the win!
hahaha definitely wasn't easy but that day I was dialled in and had a plan, thanks man!
There’s no square
if you look closely the wall is made up of square tiles, I chose one as my target
What is the application? Can measure Top spin & slice & forhand and back hand??? 😮
it's based off an algorithm so its not 100%, but it gives an approximation and a relative measure. check out swingvision!
👍
Fire video bro, this editing style is elite 💪 Solid play overall
thanks bro!! glad you liked it, hope I won't take too long before the next one!
What a tournament and some great storytelling - congrats man! Shame you had to play that guy twice but glad you got the dub (twice)!
thanks man! it was a struggle but glad I held my composure and got over the line
Congrats! Second place is a bum
Very interesting to see videos of Asian amateur tournaments in other countries. I heard you say “Inner game of tennis by Brad Gilbert”. I think you mean “Winning Ugly” 😅
Yea man it was a great experience for me too, and yes you are right it is "Winning Ugly" indeed! I was reading both books back to back and I got them mixed up, my bad 😅
@@AsianTennisBoy Which book's concepts do you resonate more with? Me and Ben @fuzzyballstennisclub seem to be at polar opposites. I cannot appreciate the concepts in Inner game and vice versa for him.
@@3.5netrushtennis Wow that's so interesting! I didn't see them to be contrary to each other but rather I saw them as complementary, focusing on different aspects of the game For me, I really loved reading about the dogged and gritty mentality from Gilbert's playing experience, especially how he approaches specific points. As for the inner game I resonate a lot with the idea that the challenges we face on the court is predominantly against ourselves (especially at our level where unforced errors have greater weight on determining the outcome of a match), and I also found the concept of Self 1/Self 2 to be very revealing to what I was doing while on the court Would be interesting to discuss these with you both one day!
The line callings are close enough to assume negligence. Maybe a case of "when in doubt call it out", which is against the rules, but not uncommon to see people do that. The tiebreak score dispute is definitely intentional cheating. The way he talks is a little too bluff-y to me. We want to have competitive tennis match, not petty claim tribunal at the net, geez. Good that you had the official to call him out right away, and video to check serve sequence.
Well he took that phrase to a new level lol I guess there is merit for us folks who are (slightly) obsessed with recording our matches
Nice video and thanks for the effort in editing. Commentary was nice as well. Indeed, your opponent in the round robin & final has questionable intergrity.
You know the grind man, glad you enjoyed the video! and yes it was pretty blatant, definitely my first experience against such an opponent
very confusing review
summary: 100D > 97D > 100 (from a head gravity pro user)
Code violation floor abuse default😂😂(?)
is it a default if its broken till like this?
@@AsianTennisBoy I believe so (?) when we actually damage the court
@@JacJackyPJ920 Ah good point!
Vertical footage is stupid, especially for tennis...
100%, so much panning needed, check out the full videos!
Deaf people: 😊 Blind people: 💀
xDD
If you lean on your toes to hit, you will have no weight transfer, which would actually lead to you playing WORSE against good opponents.
I see, then how would you play vs good opponents?
@@AsianTennisBoy Just like any other opponent, I would first analyze my opponent, then exert pressure on their weaknesses and try to play to my strengths. Then change my strategy accordingly.
@@nasu68000 great advice man, lots of brain power in tennis, love the game!!
Hey, tennis player here, when you are taking a forehand think about keeping the left hand there and really finishing the shot. And when you volley try to stay structural don’t chop or swing as you volley because it will become muscle memory and later on will affect your tennis game.
Thanks a lot for your advice! I'm working to change my habit of my left hand for the forehand prep, volleys as well I need to remind myself to stay structural instead of flicking the ball. Hope to demonstrate the changes soon!
proceeded to make 2 unforced errors after this xDD
got really lucky with this one!
do you have a victory/celebratory pose?
what's your favourite shot to hit?
If it’s so light , how did wawrinka use it?
Wawrinka doesn't use these rackets! He uses a 95 sq in racket with the latest paint job, this is common amongst the pro players who are endorsed Check out tennis nerd's post for more info about Stan's racket specs tennisnerd.net/gear/racquets/pro-player-racquets/stan-wawrinkas-racquet/16763
@@AsianTennisBoy so it’s vcore. I had read someone’s post that he used percept.
@@sunglee3935 yes, VCORE 95D to be specific, but painted in percept's colours
Definitely not a 5.5 HAHA I would cap him at 4.5 at best. For yourself yes your rating is a 3.5. You have literally no backhand at all and to weak a serve as well.
looking back in hindsight you're right on my opponent's rating! And you're probably right on my rating as well Thanks for taking the time to watch and I'm excited to share updates on my journey and progression!
Great Tennis on both sides! You just earned yourself another SUBSCRIBER! Keep up the grind with tennis and RUclips and I can't wait to see more videos 😊
Thanks for the sub my friend! It's been a while, but I just posted a new video, check it out and let me know what you think!
Bro a need the link
When u can’t make him run, u have no chance …he is moving side to side comfortably 😂
yea he is clearly dictating the play!
Nice video. Did you feel like Game Changer had a lot more spin or about the same? it almost looks the same in the vid
Hey man I was getting a lot more launch on Gamechanger compared to M8, spin wise I felt it was more pronounced on the slice for the GC, overall I think M8 performed much better after some break in!
Nice match. Just wondering, what you are checking on your watch after each point?
Most probably to mark the point in SwingVision
I am inputting the score on SwingVision as well as the way the point is won - this generates the statistics that you see at the end of the match!
There is a lack of a consistent use of a Split Step on both sides of the net. For you a 3.5 it’s not unexpected to see. Most 3.5 players haven’t learned the importance of a Split Step yet. For a 4.5/5.0 player not executing a Split Step before every stroke is very puzzling. Even if he was taking it easy on you, a Split Step is normally something that’s so ingrained in the process of playing tennis for a advanced player that it would be harder mentally to force himself not to do it. The 5-7 set was as good as a win for you. A 5.0 would rarely play a set that close to a 3.5 unless the opponent was a very attractive member of the opposite gender.
Great point on the split step, since then I've been trying to incorporate it more into my game, it is not an easy habit to develop but I can already feel my reaction time become so much better when I do utilise it. Thanks for watching!
Definitely in by far…
@AsianTennisBoy it was a great match. Ignore the internet commenters on rating... every ball looks slower on video. Your opponent was a solid 4.5 or thereabouts- anyone who says 4.0 has really never seen a 4.0 match on video (USTA tournaments are best to get a sense since they're actually barred based on rating). I would suspect in the US your rating would be between 3.5 and 4.0 and probably closer to a 4.0 at this point and your opponent is a solid 4.5 player
thanks a lot for watching and for the encouragement! video definitely does look slower than in real life for sure
@@AsianTennisBoy Amen - keep going out there and thank you for sharing! I know it takes a lot to post video (I cringe every time I watch myself)!
Yeah, it's especially impossible to judge a rating where there's a big gap, because by definition, the stronger player is not required to show their best. There is a natural tendency after winning 6-0 to relax, experiment with different things, and basically pursue other goals besides humiliating your opponent to the maximum. The only way to really know if you are a 5.0 it to play against a 4.5 and beat them or play against 5.0 and hold your own. Judging based on how strokes look or how badly you beat lower players just won't work. With that said, if you have no actual evidence he's a 5.0, it's much more likely he's a 4.5, just because that's much more common.
@@noor9651 yea I've accepted that my strokes won't look pretty but I do want to at least be more efficient in my technique. Thanks a lot man!!
Pftttttttttt... Unreal bro.
Lol😂 don't bother to run liao. Confident that you can hit winner
Bro knew he was beat at the end😁 great play
thanks man!
nah you woulda got that, if the courts were dry :)
thanks for the belief but it was really well struck!
Try fixing your left arm drop on your forehand to stop over rotation for more consistency.
Yea I've been trying that and so far its been helping a bit but still need to remind myself to keep the left arm up even more!
Wow
thanks!

I called out 😅
Depth.....that's all
Spot on man, his deep balls troubled me and I couldn't give him any shots with depth to trouble him
