This is the sound of my childhood which I still remember with great affection. I used to stand in my open bedroom window in far Headingley, Leeds and listen to the Thursday night practice at St. Chad’s Church. I have lived in Chesterfield for the last 31 years and sadly can’t hear anything like this anymore.

Yes, there are 8 bells in the tower, but the chosen methods for this quarter peal are for 6 bells.

Thank you for the kind comment. The ringing room is a great bit of kit, but sometimes, last Tuesday evening for example, it just isn't useable. Don't know why and I'm not blaming the coders, just reporting a fact.

Maybe tuesday is the most common night for practices :>)

6 7 and 8 they were absolutely superb unfortunately didnt get a recording of them

Shame about the lack of recording ;-) The eight had to be repaired by the local Oxted blacksmith after the clapper sheared off. Sounds like he did a good job.

These bells are tuned to a minor third. The tenor has a deep hum.
