you have mentioned good points of values and principles from this text although this is a common method of interpretations used even by pastors in churches that steers away from the actual interpretation of the text, you see what is happening now as before is that when you have a nation of people that have suffered at the hands of the wicked in this case the chosen people that have suffered at the hands of the colonizers, besides the physical and mental suffering, they suffered something of what is common even today, is something what you would call an identity crisis, and as you should know, the language of a tribe or nations of people forms a great deal and part of their identity and culture that make them unique and distinct from other nations that speak another language, other factors that form part of the identity of the original people of the ALmighty as scripture would label them as the natural branches, they are distinct by the colour of their skin, culture, language, and place or land of inheritance, herding animals and agricultural ways of living is also known in the scripture and also more importantly their spiritual customs and ordinces, so what Zephaniah 3:9 is pointing to is a very important issue is that indeed the original language of the original people became not completely lost but in some ways corrupted, and as you read further this points to an even greater important reason to why the ALmighty intends to restore the langauge is the fact that the original name of the Almighty is made known in the origninal langauge of his people, ive even read about some community language instituations to restore endangered languages, as do you do get cases of language that have become extinct, so i just thought of giving more wider perspecive on the reality and nature of what this text is about
