    Is the sexy music and moodlighting important for proper mask fitting, or only recommended?

    As soon as you mentioned the modification holes my mind jumped immediately to a power drill and some zipties. I spent too long working in that autoshop, I think.... :P

    The closing bit describing the tooth injury (Owwwwch...) from the failed combination of mask and gorget really is interesting information. I've seen a number of quite large gorgets and I always found them a bit odd. Why would throat protection need to cover my sternum?

    • @armingguild7097
      @armingguild7097 3 года назад

      I think the fear was the blade bending underneath the bib of the mask, but it's my personal opinion that the current designs of throat protection just don't cut it for HEMA...

      @@armingguild7097 I'm getting an Arcem jacket that is apparently designed to have the collar wrap overtop of the mask bib, which may help keep the mask from being lifted up Was thinking about perhaps putting an outer gorget on there if it's not stiff enough. Do you think it would be unnecessary to use a mouthguard with a well fitting Rearguard mask?

    Great video but I couldn't but to notice that your coat of arms has 3 diferent furnitures (is that how is said in English?) and not judging since we're in a time were coat of arms law is not so important, but by law a coat of arms shall have symmetric furniture unless it has a partition. Just a fun fact.

    Cool demonstration, and an important topic. Can I suggest that you get a mic next to your mouth in future videos so that the reverb isn't so noticeable? It can be any recording device, then just merge the audio with the video in post.

      I'd love to but I can't! it's a shotgun mic and I have nothing to record pure audio with. I'm trying to figure out what happened, since the audio sounded very different in Audacity before I exported it

    With my girlfriends help I added some stripe of velcro to back of head protector and also the back mash. This works perfectly and keeps everything from moving or falling out. Just squeezing it in felt a little to loose for my taste. And for the back of my head I do not take any chances that there might be an issue of being hit. The first try was to us the provided holes and some cord to fix the BoH to the mask which worked fine but as the holes are in the centre allowed the BoH to wiggle sideways which did not feel 100% secure. But I think the movement was elaborated by my jacket and my shoulder protector. Still love the mask! It replaced my Rearguard v1 which was just to big for me and besides the better fitting size I love the upgrades. The new rubber rings around the mask make a huge different form my experience.

    I have had the Gajardoni HEMA mask and I am not a fan of the rubber protectors: I have to replace them every 1-2 years, because the get cut and sliced up after heavy use. I was able to order replacement rubber rings, but in your design it looks like that would be an impossible fix to do on your own as it is stitched down to the mask. Any thought on this?

      @@YevhenRawrs Interesting - have you tried it?

    • @YevhenRawrs
      @YevhenRawrs 3 года назад

      @@alpenjon I have not. And the more I think about it, plastidip is probably even weaker than the rubber on there and would likely shred :P I suppose a light overlay without a BOH protector to help preserve the rubber rings could work without being too much extra
