Travel Alaska Series Episode #1 | Whittier, Alaska

I give you an inside look into the town of Whittier, Alaska!
Nice editing Darrick! You have quiet the talent with this stuff. Hoping to see you guys soon when we make our trip out there.
Awesome video! thanks for all the information and history lesson! Love to see a video of summer time.
Reminiscing of my visit to Eagle River. Great video. With you Brother on the fact that people should stop procrastinating, and get out and be one with nature!
Great video brotha Keep inspiring us to get out and Hike 💯🤟🙏
Appreciate brother
Do you think that yoy can go into Begish Towers and show us whats inside.
The school is connected to the Begich tower by an underground tunnel.
Please...why didn't we see any of the inside of the building? Also, the kids don't have to go outside to get to school. There is a hallway built underground. The kids, or anyone just have to go in the hall over to the school.
I think it would be helpful if you gave us more info on the community. - Why does the entire town live in one building? - Why has no one decided to build their own house? - What do these people do for a living? - Do they all work for the railroad? Thanks
1. Because the land is almost entirely government owned and the Begich Towers are simply already there and available. The property that is for sale is divided between 4 residents in the town, including the mayor. 2. See above. The towers are getting harder to maintain every year, once that becomes unsustainable then the town will as well. 3. The harbor brings summertime cruise ship work, the railroad has a handful of jobs but most drive or take the rail to Anchorage for their day job. Don't miss the closing period for the tunnel! Finally, I don't know exactly how many work for the rail but I'd imagine it wouldn't be too many. There's 4 police officers and only one of those lives in Whittier, for a small idea. Most jobs, schoolrooms and businesses just don't have many people
@@Kaleki935 Thank you.
Lived at the Hodge building as a small child pre 64 earthquake, great memories! 🙂

Great stuff
Awesome video and beautiful views!
Thanks man
@@DARRYBBB1 no problem dude!
Love the drone shots!
Thanks, I recently got it, so I’m still trying to figure it out lol
Beautiful hike! Loved your music selection! Aren’t you afraid of wild animals while your out hiking?
Thank you, and not really lol. I’m definitely thinking about bears, but the more you hike in Alaska the more you become comfortable. Just make sure you have a gun or bear pepper spray lol
When will the snow be totally melted? I can’t wait to see Alaska in the Spring/Summer! Are you afraid of bears coming out of hibernation? Another great video! 😊
Most of the snow should be melted by the mid May. The bears kind of make me nervous but I carry bear spray so that definitely puts me at ease lol. Thank you !
July and August, did the powerline pass run 3 times, Indian to Prospect Hts parking lot. (a bit over a 3 mile run, it's a mother,,,)
Leaving out of whitier in May 15th 2022. Flying into anchorage on May 14 2022 than taking the train to Whittier on Sunday May 15, 2022
Travel, Bonjournice to meet you- Like~ total amazing , talk you later,🖖
Thanks bud! Take care
Another great video! Is that your mom and dog hiking with you again? That’s really great that you all go together on hikes! What a beautiful place! It looks like the temperatures are pretty good. I bet in the summer it’s breathtaking! Thank s for sharing.
Yep, that’s my Mom and my dog Thor. Yeah the temperatures aren’t bad right now, then again that’s relative for Alaskans; mid 30’s is warm to me lol
B e a utiful!
This place is even more beautiful in July.
Awesome video!
Thanks brotha! Plenty more to come.
Beautiful area to explore. Nice 👍
Oh yes, there’s plenty more to see !
Beautiful country, great scenery. Lovely video
Thank you!
Alaska is my dreams
Do you plan on visiting soon?
@@DARRYBBB1 not yet, but hopefully soon!
@@gunturfeirachannel7070 I hope so as well!
Spectacular scenery! Wow, I would be afraid of an Avalanche! I know Alaska has a lot of them. Be careful! Thanks for sharing and I can’t wait for the next. 😊
Avalanches are definitely common in Alaska, especially in the Girdwood area. Luckily most of the snow has melted on Mt.Baldy, so I wasn't so worried lol.
Great video and great Music selection! My Husband and I hiked that exact trail and it is as you mentioned one of the most beautiful trails outside Anchorage. Winter does it no Justice. That River in Spring is filled with rocks. Spectacular! Just want to mention also that more Moose kill people in Alaska over Grizzlies. So watch out for them! Thanks for sharing your journey! Looking forward to your next adventure!
Thank you! And you’re right, the beauty is on a another level in the summer. Wow, I didn’t know that, thanks for the info lol.
Great Video! Lol. Life is too serious, we all need to laugh, explore and love!
Love the talking🤍
This place is magical! Watching this just makes me feel good! Views are just phenomenal bud. View at 4:20 is one of my favourite.
I know right! The video doesn't even do in justice, believe me lol
Awesome! I love hearing personal things about who you are, what brought you to Alaska. Always nice to know about who I’m watching. Happy travels and looking forward to next weeks video!
I appreciate you! Thanks for the nice comments.
Wow such a beautiful area. Thanks for sharing. New subscriber here
Thank you for the support! And I know right, the crazy part is this is only scratching the surface of what Alaska has to offer.
Lol! Love the skit ! Love the scenery! Alaska is a beautiful place, even in the winter. Looking forward to more exploration with you in the upcoming videos.
Thanks so much!
Cant wait to see the video about the biggest trees in the world🤩 I wanna see them too
I love your making your videos fun! Humor makes everything enjoyable!
Right! Doing these skits is actually one of my favorite parts of making videos.
Love Franki!
I’ve been your biggest fan since day one. Do you plan on making any tours soon to sign my autograph book?
Hahaha thanks, and oh yeah, you’ll be the first to know! Lol
Beautiful views and an amazing intro😂
Appreciate it! I was kind of worried about the intro so I'm glad you like it lol.
Pretty Awesome Darrick keep it coming, maybe you should get a donation plate started
Thanks Kelly! At some point I plan on starting a patreon page.
Awesome! Plan on coming to Alaska! It’s on my bucket list! Definitely would love to check out Whittier. I think the tunnel would be pretty cool to travel thru! Lookin forward to other videos so I know where to travel to when I get there. God Bless and safe travels!
There’s so much to see in Alaska, it’s mind boggling! Lol. You should definitely stop by Whittier if you get the chance. And don’t you worry, I’ll be posting at least one or two videos at week. Take care !
