Do not worry at all. The student union is considerate of these issues and has it covered! The first week activities finally start you should already have received your timetable and will know exactly what you can and can't fit in. Sometimes you'll find that there is no way getting around the timetable and you have to pass on the society but most endeavour to cater for every course's needs and will often hold socials and events in the evenings or weekends where the only commitments will be your social calendar. Idealistically it's nice to juggle several societies. Realistically, it gets hard at three- but everyone is different. Find what you gel with. You'll find that putting your effort into one society more than others might develop stronger relationships and you'll be much happier for it, but as I said, that's all down to the individual. It's very interesting that you mention philosophy/literature influencing thought patterns such as these and I do agree. The issue seems to come in defining your experience as dissociating behaviours vs the condition itself, which has left me wary of saying I experience anything like this when it has been so easy for the mind to fall back into the pattern. Personally, I find naming this feeling a hell of a lot more helpful because I need to have certain constructs to understand a world where our mere existence is questionable let alone the sanity of the human mind. I've never read the book, but since you mentioned it i could't help but buy it- thanks for the recommendation!

I’ve been super bad at replying recently and just noticed this. I hope you’ve been able to speak to someone about this, no matter how difficult it is. Always focus on your senses, finding something to ground you. In all honesty, it’s only taken me now to start *trying* to get a handle on the thoughts, mostly from trying to understand and find the source. I really hope you can too x

@@aleenavargas3470 All I can say is talking about it with others is the best way to manage it. It might help, if you're struggling, to find something that will ground you. I've had close ones touch something cold, such as holding ice, which has dramatically helped pull them back.

Wilhelmina Denness thanks for the advice i’ve tried to talk about it to my friends but they kinda just brushed it off and like changed the subject and i can’t talk about how i feel to my mom bc she doesn’t believe in these types of things she says i’m faking or want attention

@@aleenavargas3470 thank you for writing back. I wish I could say discussing these feelings and worries with friends and family is easy, but we both know it's not. I'm sorry it's not easy sailing for you there. It may sound oversimplified but think about what makes you happy. Really happy. It doesn't have to be anything big. It can be small, like the way a snowflake lands on your coat before silently melting into oblivion. It could be a pet, it could be a song, a person, a fictional character...focus on how it makes you feel. Recognise the strong emotions this stirs up and really focus on that feeling. Burn with it. It may not work, and that is totally okay, because we are all different. But if you ever feel at a loss, think on what means the most in the world to you. It's what keeps me going, and I hope it does you.

Cool, what are your thoughts on having student accomodation compared to renting a house with friends? 😊

Well first year I was in halls and I rented a property second and third with the same flat mates. Personally, I prefer renting a house now but I would definitely say go for student accommodation for first year. I loved being in that environment and it means you can always downsize later as you go through uni :)

Hey! You should be able to get into the university without A Levels just as long as your qualification is equivalent to A Level grades. How hard it is getting into the university is down to the individual. The good thing about Falmouth is that they choose you based on your personality over your grades, although grades are still very important. I know a little about the film department but not huge amounts-really cool fact though, a few of the recent guest lectures have been delivered by some of the crew behind Game of Thrones :O it's a pretty awesome department based off of that :)

I know this is a bit different, but know someone doing photography and they are loving it

You English is perfectly okay :') Best advice I could give is speak about it with your friends and family, they're the best support you can get before deciding if you need to step forward and speak with a therapist.

Aww haha thank you :') It's not a problem, I thought it was time to say something about how I'm feeling, whether that's down to mental illness or my mind creating a coping mechanism, either way hopefully it's there to help others that feel...disconnected x

You can join as many as you want, there's honestly is no limit! However because of the cost and time commitment you might find that you can only fit in 3/4 realistically. On the plus side, during Freshers Week you'll have a chance to try out anything for free so that can help massively with your decision :)

It's roughly the same as any university, but i know the fear- i pledged to myself that if i didn't get into Falmouth then i wouldn't go to any other uni, i would just wait another year-admittedly a little extreme..but i've got friends who really didn't get on with exams and still got in with Bs and Cs from their A Levels (which was lower than the entry requirements). Here they tend to put you in on personality as well so i'd say you've got a fighting chance!
