    Do you have any videos about leading? My horse Jet will not walk right beside me he follows behind me, and is slow and doesn’t want to walk the same pace as I do and I also have to put pressure to get him to walk faster how can I fix this?😅

    • @sportpony9037
      @sportpony9037 26 минут назад

      Does it depend if you're coming or going from somewhere he wants to be ( like his pen ) you could try using motivation like teaching him that walking somewhere there will be treats or he'll be able to graze, or you could try using a whip/ carrot stick what ever you have to put pressure behind him until he's where you'd like him to be while you guide him with your leading hand, I go over this in my video " learning liberty " from a couple weeks ago

    Great video! Why on earth would you ask a horse to do something they don't find comfy? You just walk them up on it UNTIL they have explored it, find it comfy and so forth. (Sometimes they never will, but you have a better chance with an invitation.) You INVITE them to do something, not order them. My husband is a ballroom dance teacher and says, "you ASK the lady if she would enjoy this or another move (generally with body language, not speech) and she accepts or not." Working with horses isn't much different.

    Nice video! I'm around horses regularly (still learning their body/facial languages) and I always make it a point to slowly get to know each horse. I'm feeding them regularly anyway but it never hurts to talk to them when you're approaching from whichever direction, and just all-round be sensible.

    Do we know why leg over the neck and dropping down is frowned on? Its easier and you can see where you are going. You can do the gentle slither, handy in winter, when your feet are cold😬Never been a fan of leaving a foot in the stirrup as you dismount. Seen that go wrong.

    Do you associate it with the riders preference? I wonder if horses adapt to where their main rider feels more comfortable in their early training.

    • @sportpony9037
      @sportpony9037 7 дней назад

      No I don't believe so, I do think that proper training and developing can help make the horse more symmetrical and it can also be made worse with poor fitting tack/riding/ health/ life style.

    Very interesting. I was wondering, if your horse is left dominant, does that make him left brain or not correlated?

    • @sportpony9037
      @sportpony9037 7 дней назад

      I don't know if there's been a study on it but I wouldn't think it would correlate, however, there have been studies that indicate that most horses will use their right ear when listening to a familiar sound, also the left eye is commonly associated with reactive/ negative objects, just a bit of a fun fact! 😊

  • @gryff28

    better than the first one, but if you really don’t wa not to hurt your horses back use a mounting block ❤

  • @miss-petrolea
    @miss-petrolea 8 дней назад

    I dismount tall horses either with taking both feet out of the stirrups before swinging my leg over, of leaving the left leg in while swinging over (having my hand on the right side of the saddle beam for weight distribution) but taking that foot out before jumping down.

    What would you suggest for shorter people or children? My daughter isn't tall enough to grab the opposing side but I'm really, really trying to break her off the grabbing the horn habit. I'm hoping this video helps her to see why what she's doing is wrong.

    • @sportpony9037
      @sportpony9037 8 дней назад

      The horn is the highest point so if you can reach that, you can reach the neck and seat of the saddle, I would try one hand on the neck and one one hand on the seat, give yourself a good hop with your foot on the ground and go up and over, if it feels like you're pulling your horse to you while you climb then you're not supporting your weight properly and you'll cause your saddle to twist and throw your horse off balance

      I do the exact same thing with the English saddle, hand on the neck and right hand on the far side of the pommel/ tree of the saddle, not pulling the horse to you just pushing straight up and over

    It's not the right way that can hurt the horses neck I know because my friends an expert at riding horses and she and she trains me and learns everything about horses and she studies them so it does not hurt their back or their spine when you're doing that that's how you're supposed to mount
