*** POV *** Christensen Arms Ranger .22LR & TBAC 22 TakeDown Shooting Steel @ 300 Yards!
In this video I am shooting my Christensen Arms Ranger 22 .22LR with CCI Standard Velocity (1070 FPS) ammo, and a ThunderBeast (TBAC) 22 TakeDown suppressor. It's a really good precision rimfire combo, I highly recommend it.
I'm shooting steel plates @ 300 yards. You can watch the bullets and see them trace on the camera. Sorry about the other shooters blasting away (wasting ammo) over on the 50yd range, but If you listen closely you can hear the impacts.
I get all of my Suppressors, Tax Stamps, and Trusts through Silencer Shop.

      @@williamboggs1682 They’re extremely close at the shooter’s ear, but what you’re hearing is the bullet breaking the sound barrier down range. Different atmospheric conditions can cause that echo to sound louder or quieter, so some of it could just be the way the acoustics were hitting the trees and bouncing back. In person, they are so close the average person wouldn’t be able to tell any measurable difference with their ears. This can also be said about the Otter Creek Hydrogen-L. All 3 are nearly indistinguishable to the human ear in DB volume, although there is a slight tonal difference between all of them. Anyone without be extremely happy with any of the 3, and they are all 3 precision rifle cans. I can highly recommend any of them. 👍🏼

    Wouldn’t it be safer to use the direct thread mount adapter? I’ve heard of problems with both Rugged and SilCo adapters.

    • @TroyPosey
      @TroyPosey 3 месяца назад

      No, the SiCo mounts having issues is totally believable, but the Rugged mount is top-tier. 👍🏼 And no, 1/2-28 are right-hand threads, and will loosen up and walk-off over time, if not checked every mag or 2. The tri-lug will never have that issue. Also, the things you are hearing about the Rugged mounts are probably from people’s stupidity and not doing the research to figure out what they need to be using. Rugged offers 2 different tri-lug mounts…A 9mm version, and a .45 version. This is not dependent on which suppressor you have…Both mounts will fit both the Obsidian 9 & 45 cans. The mounts are specific to which host weapon you are running the can on…NOT which model suppressor you have. The .45 mount is bigger internally, and will be extremely loose fitting on a 9mm host, like the MP5. So, even if your can is an Obsidian 45, but you plan on using it on a 9mm host weapon, buy the 9mm tri-lug mount.

    • @colkilgore9973
      @colkilgore9973 3 месяца назад

      Pipe tape can secure the direct thread. Are the Rugged adapters made of aluminum? I have not seen a three lug adapter/female part yet that didn’t wobble to some degree. I’m using the can on basic pistols - both RH & LH and haven’t experienced any thing becoming loose. I’m definitely not putting three lug on my basic tilting barrel pistols. I guess I’m just not sold on the three lug solutions.

    • @TroyPosey
      @TroyPosey 3 месяца назад

      Nope, 100%. Not a single issue since day 1, out of hundreds of rounds. Also, being that it’s an actual H&K, and not one of the knock-off brands, I only use German H&K mags. It’s expensive at $80 each, but they’ve been flawless, and all the knock-off brands seem to have feeding issues. A buddy has a Century MKE, and with his Century mag was having feeding issues and it wasn’t cycling the next round half the time. I handed him one of my actual H&K mags, and it worked flawlessly. Don’t know if it was just luck, or what? But it ran perfect with the H&K mag.

      @TroyPosey 3 месяца назад

      6 in one hand, half dozen in the other... They'll be about the same DB level in the Magnus due to its massive internal volume. That said, I have been shooting the 7mm-08 and the .308 Win for going on 25 years now, and they are both great cartridges. Taken plenty of deer with both, and honestly, if I had my preference over the 2, I'd go 7mm-08, just for the better BC bullets. That said, you can't really go wrong with either one. For target shooting mostly, the .308 Win will get slightly better barrel life, and will do just fine for hunting. But, if you plan on mostly hunting with it, and some target shooting, the 7mm-08 will be the better option, IMO.

    • @TroyPosey
      @TroyPosey 3 месяца назад

      Yeah, I know... But what you can't see, is that the can is not touching the bags. Those bags are between 12-18" long, and there's a big wide open gap in the middle where I sit the guns. I built up an elevated spot on the back of the top bag, and punched down the front of the bag so it's not touching, and it's free-floating. Also, anytime I post a video where it looks like the can is touching the bag, it's not. Not to mention, subsonic ammo doesn't get that hot after just a couple rounds. And even if it was, 9.9/10 times these are cold bore videos.

But next time I go up there I can do a video of both, provided there’s nobody else making noise up there. As for when, the best time is right now with all these super fast approval times. The fact the Polo is only $550 makes it hard to argue against just going ahead and dropping the coin on one. I would strongly recommend just going ahead and spending the money if you know you plan on getting one eventually…Because we don’t know what the future holds, but we do know that approval times are ridiculously fast right now. I’m starting down the rabbit hole of suppressing my PSA AK GF3. Did you take any action to managing gas? I see where there are aftermarket adjustable pistons and gas blocks for the AK. Or did you just install the can and run with it? Do you get more gas back in your face while shooting? Gun seem to cycle harder while shooting suppressed?

    • @TroyPosey
      @TroyPosey 5 месяцев назад

      I have not done anything to the gas system yet. I just run the can on a JMac Customs 14x1 LH RRD360 KeyMicro muzzle device. I don't notice any extra gas hitting my in the face, as the AK is already a pretty gassy design. But I do have a ton of port-pop and it the only gun I own that I still shoot with ear pro when suppressed for that reason. I do plan on getting a KNS piston system for it sooner or later. I'm hoping JMac makes one for the GF5's. I'm trying to talk Justin into making one, because I've heard the KNS system can be a bit finicky to get it tuned properly. Yes, the gun does cycle harder and slings the brass forward at about 2 o'click, instead of to the side or back, like it would if it was unsuppressed/adjusted.

      @TroyPosey 4 месяца назад

      @@TheEricj1337 You can only check after you get the rifle, unless you live near a PSA dealer location, then they might let you try a few different ones to be sure it has straight threads. Typically most import AK’s are the ones who don’t have bore-centric threads. The GF5 has an FN Herstal barrel that was built here in the USA, so it has borecentric threads. That said, always check to verify before shooting a live round through it to avoid any issues.

      @TroyPosey 6 месяцев назад

      Honestly, it's no more gassy than my Dead Air Sandman-S cans... If you want max suppression the full-size Polo is pretty awesome. Personally, I'm not a fan of K-cans, because for me, the point of a suppressor is to suppress, and K-cans just don't do that very well by nature (short, low baffle count), so to me (personal opinion), K-cans are a waste of money and a $200 tax stamp. But that's just my personal opinion. The shortest I will go is the full-size Polo and Sandman-S. The Sandman-S has 5 baffles, but not a ton of internal volume, and the full-size Polo has 7 baffles and more internal volume. It's noticeably quieter than my Sandman-S cans. It also has one of the best tones I've ever heard on a 5.56. Very low (deep) tone thanks to the all 17-4 stainless construction. You definitely won't regret a Polo. 👍🏼

    • @TroyPosey
      @TroyPosey 7 месяцев назад

      No, you need a 1” barrel adapter, THEN you install and time your KeyMo brake. But you need to buy a quality 1” extension that is an actual barrel extension, because it will have been threaded bore-centric to ensure your threads are square so you don’t get baffle strikes. I used the KVP (Kaw Valley Precision) 1” barrel extender with 1/2x28 threads. It’s only $29.99. Yes, it worked exactly as shown in all the RUclips videos, where you Freeze the image and then adjust the X/Y axis. 👍🏼 My Rattler TS50-640 does, too, after I updated the firmware in it before using it. Unfortunately, there’s not any firmware updates for the Neith yet, but I hope when they do, they tighten up the image clarity on the top end of the magnification range. At 100 yards trying to zero it precisely, required a good spotting scope to verify shots. On a Shoot-N-C you can see a rough estimate of where you hit, but not precise image. That’s why you need the spotter. What was not working properly with yours?

      The one shot zero works great. The second shot was right on the bullseye . I did shoot 10 more rounds and they all hit the bullseye but whenever I moved from my shooting bench to my tripod to standing position the bullet hit 8 inches low from the bullseye the same distance. So when I go back to my shooting bench it go back to the bullseye 🤔

    • @TroyPosey
      @TroyPosey 9 месяцев назад

      @@amantedcazeriayrancho2866 Sounds like maybe you were having an inconsistent cheek-weld. I've had some scopes that way. But most of my scopes the reticle stays on target, it hits where the reticle is aimed, even if my head is not 100% centered up. But I do have a couple that are picky like that. I haven't noticed that with my Neith, but I only really shoot from a bench. And if i'm coyote hunting, I'm shooting off a hay bale or tripod so head/neck angle is similar to shooting off the bench.

      THANKS! That's exactly why I started making these and doing them the way I do them. I have zero sponsors, and no need to drum on and on about some product and how "amazing" it is, and why you should buy it. I buy all this stuff with my own money, and share it with the world to help others make an informed decision on whether or not to buy it, and if they like how it's going to sound on their rifles. I try to get accurate audio, but occasionally (in some of the older videos...Old phone), the audio kinda sucked, but most all of the new videos made with my iPhone 11 Pro Max and now 14 Pro Max sound MUCH more accurate and realistic. Also, I found that most suppressor videos were lying to folks, and have had the audio clipped so it makes the suppressor sound SUPER quiet, when in reality, even the quietest suppressors with subsonic ammo (.300 BLK) on a centerfire rifle cartridge still sounds about as loud as (and similar to) a large pneumatic framing nailer. I wanted folks to realize that Hollywood and most of these "experts" videos has been lying to them, and "silencers" don't actually silence anything. They SUPPRESS the sound about as much as a good set of earplugs/ear pro does. Enough to help reduce hearing damage to a minimal. Thanks for the views, and feel free to hit the like buttons and subscribe, and to share the videos with others.

    I was looking at the Hydrogen S 6.5 (and at one time the K) for a bolt action 223 with supers and subs. NATO pressure handloads for the supers. How do you think it will fare, compared to say, a TBAC U7 or a DD Enticer STi?

    • @TroyPosey
      @TroyPosey 9 месяцев назад

      Honestly, I think it will fair VERY well against those 2. I would say it's right there with them in performance, and the TBAC Silencer Summit that happened a couple months back has proved some extremely good results for ALL of the OCL cans compared to the big name competition. Honestly, for your listed above needs, the Hydro-S 6.5 with their ZR0-DTA direct-thread adapter would be killer for that setup...And very lightweight. I think you'd be very happy with the outcome. My Hydro-S 6.5 sounds REALLY nice on my 16.5" bolt-action Christensen Arms MPR 6mm ARC. I don't know about .223 subs, never tried that, but I do know that my Hydro-S 7.62 sounds amazing with both .300 BLK and .308 Win subs on bolt-guns.

    • @calangel
      @calangel 9 месяцев назад

      @@TroyPosey thanks for the info, I haven't heard any results from the silencer summit yet. From PEW results, which I take with a healthy grain of salt, the Hydrogen series seems to work disproportionately well on closed/manual action weapons. Even better than most comparably sized coaxial type suppressors. The high back pressure of their baffle design doesn't seem to be a con when dealing with bolt guns like it seems to be with semi autos. Based on the excellent stuff I've heard about the Scythe Ti, first hand reports from people who already have it in hand, and comparisons to cans like the U7gen2 and the Raptor 8, I surmise that with a solid end cap it should be comparable to the Hydro S. What are your thoughts?

    • @TroyPosey
      @TroyPosey 9 месяцев назад

      @@calangel From what I’ve seen of the Scythe Ti, I would say performance is probably similar to that of similarly-size cans, like an Ultra 5 or Hydro-K. The Hydro-S should have noticeably better sound reduction and performance on a bolt gun.
