Russell wharf and Waitangi rocks fishing (successful)
Hi mate, what bait are you using?
"How do you propose to get him out of the water...?" Priceless!
Hey bro same Rod as
gg
Is it legal to eat hiwihiwi fish in New Zealand
I believe so, not too sure on that one, but if you can even get some meat off them apparently they taste like gumboots.
Great Video ! What bait are you using ?
Nice!
Is that legal to fishing in stone store? Or need a license for fishing
It's legal if you are fishing down from the waterfall/River otherwise if you are fishing above the water fall you need a trout license and be fishing in the right season.
What transducer are you running for deep drops. Cheers.
It's a 3 kilowatt transducer, I asked my mate as it's his boat and he said you can sound down to 2000 metres going 20 knots
Awesome vid mate! Keep it up
I am from Indonesia and love in Auckland. I want to explore some wharf/land based fishing in the north. Would you mind letting me know where are the places that are worth to explore there? Appreciate the help bro!
Hi there, it depends where you want to go north, there's some primo land based spots far north up by cape reinga for example spirits bay. If your into hiking there is quite a few tracks which go down to some amazing spots. Houhora has some good wharves with some big trevs and kingies coming off of there. If your into surfcasting and have a 4wd ahipara/90 mile Is quite a good stretch of coast. Around the bay of islands there is a couple easy accessible spots that hold fish like russell wharf. My advice is to have a look on Google maps and walking tracks by the water. If it's easily accessible usually its not worth it and overfished, cheers.
Hi Luke, Your video looks awesome. Can you show us how to use soft baits & what is working / not working? short clip would be great. Thanks
Thanks for the video idea, I don't get out softbaiting on boats much mainly from rocks, but I'll definitely try to upload something along the lines of that in the future. I did find about 2 months ago when I last went fishing (all my videos are old footage) that Bruised banana and electric chicken were working well from land when the weather wasn't best, a go to recommendation when your in clear water is a 4inch new penny. Cheers
I grew up fishing in spirits bay and Tom bowlin bay every Easter as a kid this just brought back so many memories
Fillet the Parore immediately. As the Aussies in this thread have said they are very nice to eat if you prepare them. They are a delicacy in regions where Snapper are plentiful so that should tell you a lot. My kids are very fussy eaters and Parore is their favorite fish. Some Aussies soak the fillets in milk, whatever, the key takeaway is that prepared right they are beautiful eating fish. Handled poorly they are disgusting to eat. All the critics in here have never tried processing them correctly. ruclips.net/video/LjBuAgU_keI/видео.html
Thanks for the info.
Bloody Marcus haha! You get those days
I really enjoyed your advenrure! Well done boyes!
Thanks for the support!
Well done boyes!
Whats the reel you using
Shimano Baitrunner 6500
Cant beat fishing out of a "rubber duckie" Used to do it a lot.
nice vid bro, also what knife is that ur using to cut the bait
Thanks, I'm not too sure on the knife, it's some old blunt hunting knife that got given to me about 7 years ago, if you are looking for a good bait knife I can recommend the floating ones from burnsco as mine is pretty sharp and even good for filleting small fish, cheers.
Loving the videos mate, be safe out there
What part of Waitangi Rocks is that are at the beginning
Just infront of the yacht club, its only accessible at low tide
Location pls
Spirits bay
is that far north adventures nz
Did you row from Waitangi to Russell because you couldnt row back to Waitangi?
Yup, wind was too strong. By the time it died down we were most of the way across
Is that Marcus shrubshall
Yup
Awesome mate keep it up
Nice vid! Keep it up brother!!
I always liked fishing off that wharf
Fish them alot. Very cool spot.
Looks like a lot of fun whole bunch of mates fishing together like that
Yeah, especially when you have the island to yourself.
Glad too see your committing to the grind
hiwi hiwi aren't poisonous. grab them by the belly underneath the pectoral fins
Great to see another video
What was his setup for catching snapper?
It was an old Mitchell surfcasting rod and reel
nice
Not a good way to measure your fish man. Bending it along the fish adds length. Get something it can sit flat on...
Yeah, that's why I don't keep any snaps under 33cm any more. Thanks for your comment though. Those snaps were definitely legal, I did lift up the measuring tape and took the measurement from there not from when I was bending it. Just to make sure measured them at Russell aswell as they have measuring stickers there. Cheers
Hey bro have you tried the left side over there, you can catch so many snapper, go around the left and there’s a small point with a small kelp bed,
No, will definitely give it a go, thanks.
Nice video mate
Location?
I'm not sure if other people would like me sharing it sorry. I can say it is in Opua
Parore are not too bad smoked, nice video brother :)
Cheers.
Hey Luc. Cool to watch. The kids and I just watched it as we are hoping to move up there shortly. Keep up the good work on building your channel 👍
Just a question, what is the rig you use with your land-based fishing videos? They seem fantastic with your great catches :)
I started off using a ledger rig with any hook, I then started buying more circle/recurve hooks. For a ledger rig I usually use a 5/0 recurve. But I have been experimenting and have been catching more and better fish landbased using a strayline rig. I use a 7/0 recurve circle with a snell knot on the end, if I need to I will add a sinker on the mainline before the swivel. Cheers.
Bro awesome yr out there doing it but you need to be more careful of sizes 30 centermeaters is legal size good luck
Thanks bro, I don't keep snapper under 33cm and trying to do 35 so not to keep undersized fish as I respect our fisheries.
Hi bro Can you please subscribe to my RUclips channel as well I got few fishing videos on my channel ruclips.net/user/vazerohit
